Great outdoors, great indoors

Welcome to Casa Apache. This lovely 2,000 sf home and adjacent casita have it all. A beautiful setting in the woods along Apache Ridge on the outside, and all the luxuries of a well-stocked home on the inside.

You'll find the house about 10 miles outside Santa Fe, a very short and easy drive into town when you want to eat, shop and play.

Owner Francis Philips has decorated the house with an electic mix of antiques and collectables, as well as southwest decor. Tastefully put together, without clutter or those fussy dust-collectors. Every room, including bedrooms, has an electric fire that keeps you cozy warm. The home is well-stocked with everything you need to cook and entertain in the kitchen (including wine classes and a corkscrew), and relax in the bedrooms/baths (big shower and tub). Just bring yourself and your suitcase of casual and comfy clothes.

Don't forget hiking shoes... there's a trail out the back side of the house that leads down the hill. It connects with trails on property of the Bureau of Land Management. I discovered several paths that led thru trees, ravines and then up along the ridge. Follow the trail to the end and you'll be treated to a breath-taking view of the valley. I hiked one to two miles every day with my beagle Penny. While there were foot prints from shoes and dogs, bike tracks, and horseshoe imprints (telling me the trail was safe and well used), I rarely met anyone else. The easy access to the hiking trail was one of my favorite parts of the stay.

I'm an artist and spent two weeks in late January at Casa Apache on sabbatical creating a new collection of abstract art for my next art show. The local was perfect for inspiration, creating and quite time. With an easy drive to town for a visit to the art galleries on Canyon Road.

Three girlfriends joined me for the last weekend; the second bedroom and adjacent casita was perfect for us.

Especially appreciated the dog-friendly welcome. My senior beagle Penny enjoyed the great outdoors as much as I did. We even found a sunny spot next to the French doors for her afternoon naps.

Great house, great outdoors.

We spent three nights here and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place. The location feels remote and private but is a quick and easy trek into town. The house and casita were perfect for three adults and three kids under 4. The kids loved exploring the woods around the house and the adults loved sitting around the fire pit and gazing at the unbelievable Santa Fe night sky. I have nothing but good things to say and can’t wait to make another trip here.

Clean and relaxing!

Great location off the beaten path. We enjoyed our time here and loved the proximity to everything. Only small negative issue is that the coffee machine needs updating. Not a big deal considering all the other amenities. Deer walked on property in the mornings and remnants of other wildlife are nearby, which was nice to see.

Perfect in Santa Fe

We spent five wonderful nights at this lovely home. The house was clean and decorated with many interesting items. The kitchen had everything you might need, and the decks to sit out on were wonderful. We barbequed one night, and the courtyard is so relaxing with all the beautiful flowers, trees, and fountain. We watched two deer one morning, and there were signs that possibly one had slept just feet away from the home at night. Highly recommend this property. Francis is very accommodating and cares about his guests experience while there. Had a great time in Santa Fe. My Husband played golf, we went to the casino, had wonderful food, and the shopping in terrific.
