About this property

Ginger Lily is a 2 bed-roomed open plan apartment situated under the main villa with a balcony across the back overlooking the gardens.
When with us you don’t have to go it alone as our on-site house manager, Kim is happy to arrange tours, book restaurant reservations or cook an authentic local meal for you upon request. We take your experience personally and want it to be the most fun and memorable vacation ever. We can even stock your food pantry in advance of your stay, just send us a list! Need more space? We have three units on property available for rent. Send us a message!

This apartment is accessed down steps to the side of the house. It benefits from: air conditioned bedrooms, screened windows, free high speed wi-fi, cable TV, secure on-site parking and location within walking distance to all bay side amenities is what makes Villa Papillon unique.

Feel at home while cooking in the fully equipped kitchen featuring coffee maker, microwave, toaster, oven, full size refrigerator, utensils and linens. Guests who prefer to do their own laundry have access to our washer and dryer facility.

Situated in the same scenic area as the Marigot Bay Resort & Spa. Walk to a secluded cove, snorkel at the beach or visit the nearby Rum Cave!

Relax at the Ginger Lily 2 bedroom apartment with private veranda overlooking tropical gardens of lime, coconut, mango and breadfruit trees.

Make use of the Weber gas grill while enjoying scenic views from the shared upper deck gazebo and pool area. This is a shared area with the other apartments if occupied.

The Marina Village, a small grocery, bank with ATM, multiple restaurants, local land and water taxi station are all within a few minutes walk from Villa Papillon.

We do not accept children due to the risk of falls from height on site by the infinity pool.

Great vacation

This beautiful property is awesomely located a couple of hundred meters from the bay, and a short ferry ride takes you to a beautiful beach. The house has multiple apartments with a shared area in the main floor - the particular apartment where we stayed was spacious and comfortable, but lacked windows in the two sleeping rooms making the fan/AC indispensable for some air circulation if wanting to sleep with closed door. Kim, the property manager, is awesome, helpful and very responsive - certainly a huge asset for the property!

Awesome property

This home was beautiful, the photos are very accurate, but don’t show the beauty surrounding the property, the gardens, the lush, green, and the ability to listen to the birds. Stephen was prompt in response to questions, but the highlight of the trip was Kim and her Attention to us and our requests. She set us up for an awesome day of snorkeling, gave us ideas for restaurants, and each day checked in to see if we needed ideas or assistance with anything. She was just phenomenal and cooked us an incredible island meal. The roads are crazy, so if you rent a car be aware. The best place for lunch to enjoy the view of Gross Pitons was mango tree restaurant, highly recommend! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it was a winner! Thank you Stephen and Kim!!!

Good choice

Close to the marina. Clean and well kept. Having a manager there full time was helpful and she cooked us a delicious meal ! The pool didn’t get a morning sun so we didn’t use it but the patio was chill and comfortable.

Lovely setting and for the adventurous

We are so very grateful for Kim, the property manager!!! She was available everyday to give us advice on things to do. She does the laundry for a fee. Please reach out to her, esp considering hiring drivers as opposed to car rental. Stephen, the new owner, was very easy to work with. The Villa Papillon is off the beaten path & the roads are full of potholes &hairpin turns—I failed to notice that driving is on the left, which can present a challenge for those from the USA. The plus side is that we experienced St Lucia’s charm apart from the larger cities and resorts. The small town of Marigot Bay is picturesque. There are a couple of restaurants in the area. Dining out is quite expensive. The Villa, on the side of a hill overlooking Marigot Bay,is picturesque & gated. The pool, gazebo and bbq area on the upper level are lovely. We found the locals to be most friendly & helpful, especially when we became lost during our explorations. The beds in the Ginger Lily apt are very comfortable and the air conditioning in each bedroom was all we needed. Our veranda was a haven for early morning coffee, reading & just enjoying the flora & fauna. We had daily visits from birds & saw mongoose— fortunately no snakes! There were ample glassware, plates, dining utensils & food storage containers, including plastic ware for poolside. The apt needs some refreshing & replacing of small appliances & cooking equipment basics. Bring your own herbs and spices. Unfortunately, my wife came down with bronchitis for 4 days & we were pretty confined to the Ginger Lily, making our own meals, which we enjoy. There was a nice supply of teas which were most appreciated, but only salt, pepper & sugar. Kim was instrumental in arranging for a doc to come in person, as well as the wonderful Verna to give us each a massage en-suite. There are numerous steps down to the apt. This wasn’t a problem for us but should be noted. One of the major reasons we selected Villa Papillon was that proceeds from the rent was goes to support a charity for local children! For the daily fee, we would have been happier with the Villa on the upper level as it was updated and more spacious. We had the best time with Edmund Tours once my wife was better, going to all the area high points, including snorkeling and mud baths. We recommend the Villa P if you are adventurous.

Exactly as Expected

We were very happy to find that the villa looked exactly like the pictures and was very clean and inviting! The plunge pool and gazebo were perfect all week! The bedrooms were excellent for sleeping: air-conditioned, dark and quiet. The breezes and fans were great during the day. The private balcony overlooking the canopy of palms and other trees was a beautiful place for morning coffee. Kim, the house manager, is exactly what you would expect from the older reviews (before covid shutdowns). She was available to help us with all kinds of needs, and was quick to troubleshoot any issue we had. She had groceries waiting for us when we arrived, made us a delicious meal during our week, and arranged transportation for us. We really enjoyed the more secluded rocky bottom beach that was a 10-15 minute walk north of the villa, instead of the very touristy, sandy but small Marigot Bay beach. Chateau Mygo was our go-to for local meals, if we didn’t feel like cooking for ourselves. The Villa Restaurant further up the hill also delivers pizza between 5-9pm, or you can head there for breakfast or dinner. There are a handful of other restaurant options in Marigot Bay as well. We travelled with another couple and the “Ginger Lily” 2 bedrooom apartment was a great size for the 4 of us! There are 3 units in the Villa Papillion, and we really enjoyed chatting with the other guests at the shared patio, plunge pool and gazebo, and never found it to be too busy or crowded. (There were never more than 9 guests in total, including the 4 of us, when it was full.) Would definitely stay here again, if we ever return to Marigot Bay! Thanks for a great week, Kim!

We originally had our honeymoon in St Lucia in 1995 and have now bought a holiday home. The previous owner built this vacation home in Marigot Bay. The landscape is mountainous and lush with vegetation, the bay is filled with luxurious yachts of all sizes but this is in stark contrast to the daily struggles of many local families which is why we continue to support the previous owners nonprofit organization called Irie Kids, Inc. Profits from our rentals help fund programs for underprivileged children in our community.

This is a beautiful home and is one of the closest to the bay being a 2 minutes walk. We are so happy to have bought this as a holiday home and we are happy to share it with some of the proceeds being put back into the local community as the previous owners did. We are fortunate to have kept the wonderful staff who truly care for guests which is reflected in our 5 star reviews on multiple websites. We hope that Villa Papillon is a sincere reflection of the grace and beauty that is Saint Lucia. SIMPLE & BEAUTIFUL!
