About Marta Petter

I moved to Saugatuck from Chicago. I purchased this historic building and started renovation step by step to make this a deluxe property in town. I added insulation between floors and in the walls and maintained some of the historic features. This is one of the newer units on the ground floor. Created a home that I would enjoy with views of harbor, park and marina. A great location to be a part of it all but away from it all at the same time.

Marta Petter purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Marta Petter chose Michigan

It is historic building in town in great location and the only building which spans the width of entire city block.

What makes this apartment unique

Exposed brick and quality features throughout.

Cozy spot for a couple's marina-retreat

  • 4 of 5

Marta Marta, what didn't you think of? What a cute tiny place with every amenity that a couple would need for a relaxing get away! -and we needed it!

This studio is equipped for your comfort and convenience just like home. -even though small it has a king bed which is always our choice. The walk-in shower and bathroom are nicely done and the kitchenette was more than adequate even though I chose not to cook this trip. The view across the street to the Marina can be enjoyed rain or shine with this unit having a small patio covering for rainy days. --and many of the yachts and sailboats coming in "ain't no joke". Marta was very easy for my husband to work with and available for communication which made our stay feel very 'taken care of'.

The little town of Saugatuck is great for shopping and Lake Michigan close by for jaw dropping views along Lake Shore Drive and Oval Beach. Our little chi was pre-approved for the visit and he loved it here as he made new friends with passer-bys and the studio was perfect for him because he could keep his eye on us at all times from his crate.

If I had any suggestions, it would be to replace the table sofa. It is a cute unit with the table being perfect but the couch is pretty broke down and low to the ground for those that need more back support for comfort. -and the regular mattress could use some memory foam as most people are spoiled with it these days. -all in all, no complaints.

We have come to town for 40 yrs and we still love it. I have to say, we have chosen to come the quieter times these days because we're getting older. This little town has stood the test of time and gets very very crowded during peak seasons. --the week after Labor Day was sooo nice to savor the town by ourselves, well we shared it with a few people.

Thanks Marta--great stay and your hospitality is impeccable. We'll definitely come back!

-and the wine, crackers & cheese were a great touch!

A Gem in Saugatuck

  • 5 of 5

Best location in Saugatuck! Adorable clean and modern condo with all amenities needed. Perfect for our anniversary getaway. Quick walk to town, or sit outside and enjoy the water feature overlooking the marina. Our host thought of everything. Thoughtful goodies and wine left by the host - thank you! We can't wait to come back!

Charming!

  • 5 of 5

Small delightfully appointed studio in an absolutely perfect location for walking about a charming destination, Saugatuck, MI. Perhaps, the best part of our visit was the interaction with Marta. She is a class act and a hands-on property owner with impeccable design taste and host skills. The treats and wine upon our arrival made our get-away extra special only to be trumped by her acknowledgment of our travel hiccup (we blew a tire on our boat trailer en route to Saugatuck) with another bottle of wine to sooth our travel fatigue. Her responsiveness to a couple of follow-up questions was close to being instantaneous. In our estimation, Marta deserves the 5-star rating...she earned it! Jeff and Sheila, Cedar Rapids, IA

Great place to stay in Saugatuck

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location as we could just walk to the restaurants and Star Cruise paddle boat ride. Even though we were near the street it was very quiet and fun to watch the people walk by from our patio. The lighting was great in the studio apartment and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the special treat of garlic Parmesan dip with the special crackers. It was a fun place to stay.
