Location, location, location! I never thought I would find myself living in a frilly Victorian---I am more the mid-century, post-modern type---but I have grown to love and appreciate the historic nature of my home and it's architectural style. And the view isn't bad, either. :-) I would say this vacation rental is most ideally suited to guests who are seeking non-standard lodging/accommodation that is superbly situated.
Landmark property registered on the National directory as 'Epworth-by-the-sea'. The carriage house was actually used to house a buggy and horses during the late 1800's. The bottom floor has been converted into a garage and storage; the top floor is the rental unit. Many of the original design features remain, including rough hewn floors made with redwood harvested from the Santa Cruz mountains more than 100 years ago. We are pet friendly (fees apply---please let us know in advance), and four-legged visitors seems to enjoy the area quite a bit. Off leash dog beach less than half a mile from the property. This property works exceptionally well for longer term guests seeking a home away from home. Guests booking for 30 nights or more are exempt from paying Transient Occupancy Tax (normally 11% of rental cost for stays less than 30 days). We are happy to adjust your rental quote accordingly for longer stays...just ask!
I love visiting Santa Cruz and this charming carriage house is perfect! It has been beautifully restored with high end finishes with attention to detail including the hay loft sliding door and vintage floors. I could hear the ocean waves & sea lions on the pier at night. The off street parking is a bonus too. There is easy access to groceries, restaurants, shopping and West Cliff drive. This is the second time I’ve rented from Khristina and she is a delightful host, always available via text or phone. I am planning to return!
The carriage house is a charming 1 bedroom cottage with a quaint deck and all the amenities. Great location. We will return again and again.

The Carriage House is a wonderful little hideaway within walking distance of the most beautiful part of Santa Cruz. My family loved the beach access and the quiet. It is very well-maintained and the customer service was way above and beyond what is usually expected. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting the full Santa Cruz experience. We were grateful to find this magical place and look forward to our next trip!

The Carriage House is wonderful! It's been beautifully restored and was spotlessly clean. It's location is perfect, within easy walking distance from the beach, boardwalk and town. Khristina was very responsive to the few questions we had. The Carriage House will be our first choice if we return to Santa Cruz (and I hope we do). Loved every minute of our stay!

We believe in legitimacy and transparency. The local 11% City of Santa Cruz Transient Occupancy Tax will be added to all bookings less than 30 nights in duration. Please note that $75 pet fee is PER PET, but we will often adjust or waive additional fees for longer stays, or if you plan on bringing more than one animal companion with you.
