About this property

Spacious Stone Villa in the heart of Tuscany

Villa La Pace is a beautifully furnished, inviting and comfortable home nestled into a wooded garden setting. It is located in a 14th c. town, a ten minute walk on foot, which has a general store, a grocery and wine store, a post office, a restaurant, an English speaking travel agency, three coffee bars and two churches. The home is on an acre of wooded park which provides shade in summer. Unlike much of Italy the home and its surrounding area are quiet and peaceful. At night one can stargaze as there is no ambient light. The beautiful city of Siena is visible from the balcony. The style of the home is classic Tuscan, furnished with country antiques found and restored locally. The bedrooms are spacious and well furnished. All are decorated in Tuscan antiques with armadio. (Armoire). All have large shuttered screened windows. The home has been updated to accommodate American standards, so the kitchen has every amenity such as a built-in refrigerator, dishwasher, blender, toaster, microwave, oven, stovetop, and ample marble counter space. Recently we added a gas grill on the balcony which makes outdoor cooking a breeze.
The home comfortably sleeps six persons.
Villa la Pace has an elegant, spacious feel to it, which induces a peaceful vacation. That's why we named it "peace palace"; Villa la Pace.

Family fortnight July 2022
Carol could not have been more welcoming, kind, generous and helpful. Every day was a new joy. Wonderful experience all round. Highly recommend, particularly Carol’s restaurant suggestions.

Three perfect weeks in Tuscany ...
This is the ideal launching pad for explorations of Tuscany and surroundings. We visited Montalcino, Montepulciano, Assisi, Castello di Brolio, Siena, and Florence in addition to the local towns of Murlo and Buonconvento. We even wandered down to the Mediterranean at Castiglione della Pescaia—a nice change from medieval hill towns. No matter how hot it was outside, Villa la Pace was a cool and welcoming haven to return to. We loved sitting on the balcony and listening to the birds while eating a meal or sipping coffee or wine. And on the one evening when it was unseasonably chilly, the fireplace provided a warmth that filled the house and our guests. We frequently consulted Carol's helpful book of information and very much appreciated her suggested itinerary for a week, along with the recommended restaurants, bars, and markets. Fernando and Carla (caretakers) were always friendly and accommodating and added a "family feel" to the experience. The house is in a lovely setting, well equipped with everything we needed, and having the village just a short walk away made a huge difference, as well. A little piece of Villa la Pace will always be with us ... After three lovely weeks here, we feel refreshed, renewed, and ready once more to face life without being on vacation! Thank you for everything, Carol!

Beautiful Tuscan Villa
We spent four nights in this beautiful Tuscan villa. Comfortable, bright and well furnished. Located in a beautiful residential community 20-30 minutes south of Sienna. Good location for day road trips around Tuscany. We had a few issues when we arrived. We could not get the washing machine or the dishwasher to work. We called the caretaker and he came right over and discovered that the water source was turned off. We were never able to get the internet to work and the phone service was spotty. But the villa was beautiful and convenient to all the little hill towns.

Gorgeous house in the countryside
I discovered this gem while travelling through Tuscany ... I can only use one word to describe this home: AMAZING. Great place in a great location. Comfortable and relaxing, it's found right in the heart of Tuscany. Thank you, Carol, as you helped make my vacation in Italy a truly rememberable experience. I will definitely be back to rent from you again at your gorgeous place ...

La Pace...
The villa offers the "Real Tuscan" experience. This was my third stay here and I look forward to my return. The villa, besides its warmth, Tuscan charm and gracious helpful host is a serene gateway. You can relax in the gardens, or travel the country side, it is located in the heart of everything. A few miles from Siena, to wonderful medieval towns to the left and right, from museums, shopping and the most exceptional local restaurants. The choice is yours lots to do, but the best part is always the return to the comforting, welcoming beautiful villa for the most gratifying stay. I look forward to coming home here again and again. This time we made a BBQ of Chicken with Rosemary that I picked from the garden. I Highly Recommend this gem in the Tuscan Hills.

Why they chose this property

Villa la Pace (Peace Palace) is a dream-come-true for me. Ever since my parents took us to Siena at the age of 14, I cherished the idea of owning a home in Tuscany. I have made some wonderful friends in the area, have enjoyed some phenomenal food and wine, and participated in the fascinating culture of the Palio of Siena. This part of Tuscany is one hour from the most beautiful, clean beaches of Tuscany, Castiglione della Pescaia. There is also horseback riding nearby, and wonderful walks. At night you can see all the stars in the heavens.

What makes this property unique

Since I am American raised, I wanted to bring the home to a high level of standard for my guests and family. There is 24/7 abundant hot water. There is a breakfast terrace which overlooks the wooded backyard and from which you can see Siena. There is a flat screen tv with many English and Italian DVDs. There are two full baths, comfortable mattresses, and each room is designed in an elegant Tuscan style. My personal artwork is all over the house and on the walls.
