About the property

Approx. 1300 Sq.ft of Log Cabin Comfort, 2BR, with Amazing Mtn Views.

Aaahhhh! The mountain view!!!! This is why you visit the Smoky Mountains, isn't it? Well, this is what you get when you stay at 'Mountain Memories as well as an old fashioned feel.

Our cozy 'Heritage Log Home' has been named 'Mountain Memories' because that is what we hope to give you when you stay at our cabin. We wanted to make you remember the history and memories of 'the good old days' and also to build your new memories. The beautiful, huge square logs and cathedral ceiling with exposed beams give you that feeling of our Appalachian ancestor's lifestyle. We've carefully decorated with a few antiques that would have been used in these mountains in the early days to give the cabin the 'old timey' feel.

'Mountain Memories' has 2 beautifully decorated bedrooms, though the upstairs (queen bed) is a loft bedroom and is only semi-private. This bedroom area cannot be seen from down below so, the cabin is actually suitable for two couples or a family of four. The master bedroom is downstairs and has a king sized bed. We have chosen high count cotton sheets and comfy mattresses for your sleep comfort. The downstairs BR has a full bath and the loft bedroom has a full bath but no shower. (jucuzzi type tub for two).

Sit in the hot tub enjoying the mountain views while a light snow falls! Maybe a game of pool in the evening after coming in from a long day of sightseeing or hiking would be what you'd like to do. Or perhaps you could just enjoy some enchanted evening by the 'real wood-burning' fireplace watching a good movie on the flat screen or maybe reading a good book. Whatever you enjoy doing, your Mountain Memories' can be made here.

The Village of Cobbly Nob:

Cobbly Nob is a village that consists of homes hidden on a mountain just outside of the Smoky Mountain National Park and is located in a village off of 321 East about 6 miles east of Gatlinburg city limits. Though the village it is not 'gated' it has a gatehouse at the entrance and 24 You can be at all the attractions in Pigeon Forge within 20 minutes or so and enjoy the most beautiful drive getting there. The road is not very curvy toward Gatlinburg and there is also a close entrance to the Smoky Mountain National Park (Greenbriar entrance) only 5 miles from the cabin on the way. This entrance is perfect for a lovely drive along the creek or hiking to a waterfall.

Down the hill from the cabin is the 18 hole Bent Creek Golf course. So, if golf is your thing, it's right there for you. Cobbly Nob has 2 pools for the owners and their guests. There is also a small store with grocery items and a cafe. And, if you should be there when a snow falls, they have a road crew that clears and salts the roads so there's no worry of getting snowed in for long.

The lots are larger than what are found in most mountain home/cabin communities so the homes in there are in more 'private settings'. Only one house can be seen easily from the least in the summer. Woods are on one side and also in the back of the cabin. The paved driveway is almost level so there's easy access from the street. If you choose 'Mountain Memories' for your vacation, you will surely be making your own 'Mountain Memories'.

About Colleen Totsch

We are Jeff and Colleen Totsch and have been married for 38 years. We've always made a point to take time to get away for quality time alone with each other or with our 4 children while they were growing up. We finally got to a point in our lives where we could afford to buy a little piece of HEAVEN in the MOUNTAINS. It is our hope that you will build wonderful memories while staying at our log cabin in the Smokies that you will treasure for years to come.

Colleen Totsch purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Colleen Totsch chose Gatlinburg

The mountain views and condition of the cabin were amazing! We felt it had all the 'ingredients' for that 'Smoky Mountain Experience'. Plus, Cobbly Nob isn't just any community. It runs along the northern border of the Smoky Mountain National Park so your views are natural Mountain views. And Cobbly Nob has it own road maintenance crew. If it snows, they maintain and plow the roads so you won't need to worry about not being able to get home in time to get back to work . I knew this would be a real important asset to a vacation property.

What makes this cabin unique

AWESOME VIEWS! Real 'Heritage' log home, cozy but very roomy for a family of 4. Located in the wonderful community of Cobbly Nob. Has easy access, street/snow maintenance and security.

Colleen does it right. Great cabin fully furnished, comfy, relaxed, clean, and fully stacked with living stuff. Excellent community.

We will return for sure.

Awesome views

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time and enjoyed the cabin and the location. Easy access to all activities. We even had bear tracks coming up the drive.. Only complaint was the spider webs inside and outside of the cabin. Great experience overall.

Owner's Response: Hi PJ. I'm sorry you saw some spider webs while there. We've spoken to the exterminator about them and they told us that all you can do is spray spiders directly to kill them, but other's will return. You can't spray to discourage or prevent them. Our only choice is to knock them down every chance we get to discourage them. We are located in a woodsy setting and it's a log cabin. Log cabins have cracks that can be easily found by spiders. And it's always worse during the summer. Sorry, our cleaning people don't always see all the spiderwebs when they are doing the cleaning. And they don't even bother with any that are on the outside of the cabin. Maybe it would be helpful to put up a little sign that says...."if you see a spider's web, knock it down". But then,... spider's are doing their job at keeping other bad bugs away. I'm glad you all still enjoyed the cabin and had a great time.

Cozy and comfortable!

The cabin is perfect for a small family. It's super quiet and peaceful get away. The cabin is well equipped and just plain comfy. The best part was seeing a moma bear with her 2 Cubs! We even saw the Papa bear in the driveway!

Wonderful place, close enough to the city but not to close

  • 5 of 5

Great time here with some friends! Nice place to get away from it all, close enough to Gatlinburg but also far enough outside of the city to get away. Hot tub is pretty small, it was a very tight fit for four adults, but we made it work! Also it is a two bath but only one bath has a shower, again not a deal breaker for us! Plenty of towels and check out was easy! Would absolutely recommend and go back!

Nice cabin but needs a bit of TLC

  • 3 of 5

We have stayed in many cabins in Cobbly Nob for over the past 35 years. Mountain Memories is a nice, basic cabin. The house has a nice driveway and is easy to get to on the mountainside. The house smelled musty when we arrived. We quickly found that only the kitchen windows have screens, so it was hard to get the musty scent out. Plus we had to have the A/C on all the time since the bedrooms did not have windows that opened. The view is one of the best, but there is a house right next door that takes away a bit of the romanticism since they can see directly onto the porch and hot tub. The hot tub worked well and was soothing after a long day hiking. The kitchen had all the standard amenities, noting fancy but everything in working order. It would have been nice to have 2 matching wine glasses. The listing states 2 full bathrooms. There is a full bathroom on the first floor but upstairs there is only a powder room with a Jacuzzi in the bedroom area. So, if you have more than one couple, everyone must use the first floor bath for showers. The shower curtain was moldy all along the top. Could use some cleaning. If there was a major complaint, I would say the king bed and pillows. The bed was hard as a rock (and I prefer a firm mattress because of back issues). You could hear the springs when you sat down. A bigger problem were the pillows. There were 2 pillows on the master bed. One as a king size pillow - very firm and hard to cozy up to. The other pillow was worse. It was a body pillow. Impossible to rest your head on. We "borrowed" the 2 pillows on the upstairs bed but they were flat as a pancake. We woke every morning to stiff backs and necks. With a bit of updating and some TLC, Mountain Memories can be a very nice place to spend some time in the Smokies.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry you weren't perfectly satisfied with your stay. It is a basic cabin with wonderful views. It's true also that there is a cabin below that is within view. But there is no way those people can see you when you are in the hot tub unless they sprouted wings. looking upward, they would be able to see you walk to and from the hot tub for sure. And by the way, our hot tub and deck is brand new. I've never had anyone tell me that the cabin was musty smelling when they arrived. Perhaps it had been empty for awhile before your arrival. In the past, we have had problems with some of the guests leaving windows open and letting rain in is why we don't allow windows open. The pillows were new, I'm sorry they weren't to your liking. And, we don't own a body pillow so I can't imagine where that could have come from if this was the case. We keep spare pillows in the closet and cedar trunk. Perhaps this guest needs more of a "deluxe" cabin with "deluxe" prices for her next. stay. We try to keep ours affordable and most all of our guests have been very happy with the cabin and views, as you can see from our other reviews.
