This is just the best place to stay on the island!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is a lot bigger than it looks in pictures, it has a cozy TV room (you don't see the TV on the wall), the king bed is really comfortable, and the kitchen is as large a regular one at home. Rick is a great host, even helps you with your bags! The location is perfect, close to everything but far enough away to ensure a quiet haven. You want to go into Haleiwa and eat at Haleiwa Joe's, the Blackened Mahi Mahi is the best. The landscaping is beautiful and you will enjoy the outdoor private shower. The food trucks are an institution here and you have the largest concentration of them right down at the bottom of the hill. Ted's Bakery is just up the road, yum. At the bottom of the hill there is also a great beach with parking to watch the sunset. We would not even consider spending our next trip anywhere else.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review. Our wish is to always have great guests like yourselves. Sounds like you had a great time trying all the amazing food offerings of the North Shore. One always thinks of the great beaches here but glad you mention the incredible variety of creative food offerings the North Shore has. Pretty cool combo! Hurry back! Aloha and Mahalo!

Really Nice Place to Stay on the North Shore

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is beautifully decorated and we loved the location! Very well tended and taken care of. Great value for the money!

Their was a rooster and some dogs that liked to be loud on the adjacent properties...that was a little bit annoying, but we would still stay here again because the house and property are that nice.

Just as an FYI...the cottage is located on the same property as the owner's home. I can't remember seeing that in the description. Still private, but just wanted to put that out there in case others wanted to know.

5 Nights

  • 5 of 5

This is a great pace to stay and relax. Cottage is actually very large and well stocked with beach items, soaps and various other items. Bed was the nicest of any we slept on in our 15 night trip; just like being home. The historical town of Haliewa and Turtle bay are each just 10 to 15 minutes away. We lost electricity on day due to high winds and Rich above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Grounds were beautifully maintained. We would stay here again in a heart beat.

Large, lovely, well equipped spot above the north shore

  • 5 of 5

Gracious hosts, beautiful spot. Large, spotless, well designed and equipped cottage with excellent kitchen (sharp kitchen knives!) and extremely comfortable king size bed. We enjoyed watching the Olympics on the giant TV in the comfy TV room. The hosts Rick and Inge are hospitable and thoughtful. There's no lanai or regular outside eating space, but they planted two very comfortable chairs on their large, lush lawn and invited us to lounge there all we wanted. It was peaceful watching the wind mills turning across the tops of the trees.

Beautiful, peaceful stay

  • 5 of 5

The guest house was a spacious and welcoming place to stay. It was exceptionally clean and all Ammenities functioning properly. Up in the hills, or was peaceful and out of the hustle as we had been looking for. Rick was more than accommodating for anything we needed as well. Thank you!

North shore paradise

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet of being away from the hubbub of Waikiki.

The owners were very kind and considerate of our privacy, and provided us a refuge to kick back and relax for the full 2 week stay.

The property is just as described in the listing, especially the California king size bed with luxury linens and super comfortable mattress. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower, which brings a special meaning to the term "being close to nature".

With all that being said, other guests should realize that dining options are rather limited in this area of Oahu, unless they are prepared to drive about 10 miles into Hale'iwa every time they want to go out for dinner. Many food trucks are closer to the property around Pupukea, but are not fine dining and are probably more for the surfer crowd.

A car is a must for any renters, as the north shore is about an hours drive from Honolulu. Even the local Foodland grocery store is a 2 mile jaunt down a rather steep road from the cottage, so not a walk-able outing.
