About Steven A. Cappa

Married 34 years and now with 3 young adult sons and a lovely daughter-in-law, we've resided in this lovely mountain region for the past 14 years, formerly serving as Directors of Marble Retreat (www.marbleretreat.org), the lodge of which is located on the same property, 300' below the house. Writing a new chapter in our lives, Patti and I have returned to my first love of academia and, as a result we are now residing in the city of Grand Junction, CO and are wishing to share the peace, joy and beauty of our Marble home with others. As a hobby, Patti and I have remodeled much of the home with our own hands and continue to do so as time allows.

Steven A. Cappa purchased this chateau / country house in 2003

Why Steven A. Cappa chose Carbondale

When one sees the home and the location, one readily understands why we are making it available to others as a vacation rental. The home is nicely appointed and cozy making it very comfortable for long afternoon naps or making a gourmet meal. The hot tub is a wonderful end to a long hike, day of fishing or cross country skiing. We believe the upper Crystal Valley is one loveliest in the state. Our home's remote and very private location, surrounded by towering peaks and pines, says it all!

What makes this chateau / country house unique

It is a modern, up-to-date mountain home with most all the amenities, save for cell phone service and Internet!

Beautiful home with fantastic accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful mountain home surrounded by trees, flowers and peacefulness!

4 couples enjoying the mountain trails in Marble. Excellent access for outdoor adventures. Enjoyed sitting on the deck in the mornings while drinking coffee and just relaxing on the deck in the evenings after a long day of outdoors. Enjoyed the hot tub also! Had plenty of room to accommodate our trailers and vehicles, plus plenty of room indoors where we did not feel like we were on top on one another! Hope to come again! Thank you for your hospitality!

A wonderful spot in a beautiful area!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was wonderful. It had everything we needed for an amazing week of hiking, fishing, exploring the area, and enjoying memorable family times. The views of mountains are stupendous, and the smells are great. So many trees and birds! We will definitely try to make this an every summer destination!

The Perfect Gathering Place!

  • 5 of 5

Six of us were lucky to be able to spend a long weekend at the Marble Retreat and we absolutely loved our time there! It is truly off the grid with beautiful scenery and complete privacy. The fully-stocked, well-appointed cabin was more than we could've expected! It had plenty of room for 6 adults and we took full advantage of the kitchen by preparing all of our meals for 3 days. It was truly a communal space that was perfect for game nights and story-telling on the outdoor patio... we didn't even miss wifi! Thank you Steve and Patti for a lovely weekend!

Peaceful and cozy home

  • 5 of 5

We Loved our stay at this secluded, very well furnished home. The kids enjoyed ALL the board games and dvds that were available...even the piano! This cabin had everything that one needs in the kitchen and bathrooms!! very comfortable beds and even an air mattress if needed. Lovely views from the huge decks!! We didn't want to leave this home! home was very clean with a HUGE library!!! would recommend to big family and groups with children. hosts were gracious and considerate to include ways of staying SAFE and HEALTHY in the remote area.
