Come, get away to a different era or relax with modern amenities. Sit in the log house and feel what it may have been like to live on the Ohio frontier. Imagine the workings of an authentically reproduced stone cooking fireplace but use the well-equipped up-to-date kitchen. About Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer

Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer have been married for 24 years and enjoy working and developing our family farm. Doug works as an artist and educator while Jennifer works as an academic advisor. Both enjoy raising their two sons and passing on the property's history to the next generation.

Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer purchased this cabin in 1997

Why Doug McGlumphy and Jennifer Greer chose Stone Creek

Our cabin is located on 150 acres of rolling farmland in the Stucky Valley, of Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Originally settled in the 1830's by the Moomaw family, the farm was purchased in 1903 by Doug's great-grandparents, German farmers, Jacob and Emma Hisrich. It has remained in our family for over 110 years.

The farm subsequently passed down to Doug's grandparents, Laura and Vernon Hisrich who lived, raised a family and farmed the property for many decades. After their deaths the main house, outbuildings and land remained underutilized for many years and fell into decline until we purchased them, along with Doug's parents, Ed and Pat (Hisrich) McGlumphy in 1997.

In addition to the built environment, the farm consists of approximately 60% tillable land and 40% woods. In an effort to preserve the property as farmland, a local farmer uses the fields to plant crops for his dairy farm. The remainder acts as a bird sanctuary, as well as habitat for local wildlife.

We enjoy our farm and its family history and invite you to come and enjoy its peacefulness and tranquility with us. It is a labor of love and continues to be an ever-evolving endeavor. There is always something new to look at with each subsequent visit as we always have a new project in the works.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin and rural setting offers a truly unique experience for couples, families or friends to get away and relax. We even have a baseball field, hiking trails and an art gallery right outside your front door. Come and enjoy!

What a great place for a getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this cabin! The longer we were there, the more comfortable we got, and we really didn’t want to leave. We were there for a February weekend which turned out to be quite wet, so we didn’t get to take advantage of the nature trail or the outdoors. But that was ok because it just gave us more time to cozy up inside this wonderful, rustic cabin. We believe we will definitely come back at some point, perhaps in the fall or spring when we can explore the trails and enjoy a fire at night. Doug and Jenn were great hosts and made us feel right at home. We definitely recommend this place for a romantic getaway

Amazing stayed 1/28 - 2/1/2018

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about this place. We stayed for 4 nights and I didn't want to leave. The cabin is cleaner than a five star hotel and has everything just like you are home. The owners actually make you feel like you are home. It was snowing while we were there which was wonderful and we got to use the fireplace. We woke up in the morning no snow on the porch and cones we're set out where there was ice on the driveway. These small touches go along way. I already miss the cabin.

Quaint log cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is adorably rustic and was the perfect spot for our girls getaway weekend. It’s a close drive from the freeway but you feel a million miles away. It is perfectly decorated and well equipped with everything you need. We especially enjoyed the fireplace and the breakfast goodies! Can’t wait to return!

A Charming Place for a Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I love visiting this place! Tucked away in a rustic setting, this historic cabin is stocked with modern amenities. Which makes staying here something out of the ordinary but not uncomfortable. Doug and his wife are wonderful host and very accommodating. I highly recommend it!

Quite a beautiful renovation, clearly of love and detail.

  • 5 of 5

The trails were an unexpected joy. Just a beautiful property both in and out. The mattresses were not super, but everything else made that seem trivial. Super kitchen (with real pots and pans and plenty of glass ware....). Just a true joy. We plan to return.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at the log house! We are certainly glad you enjoyed your stay. The ropes have been tightened on the rope bed so the next time you visit you can "sleep tight." You are welcome back anytime, Doug and Jenn
