Summer’s coming! Mintutes from river tubing, Nockamixon State Park, Ringing Rocks Park not to mention great restaurants and antique shops?

Two cultural VIPs (from the Curtis Institute and Kimmel Center) bought this roomy log cabin in 2013 as an escape from city life. Then they gave it an overhaul, adding the perfect mix of vintage elements (an enameled wood stove from Norway) and new stuff (spa-like bathrooms, a private suite) for a gorgeous upscale-yet-cozy look. Lucky for you they're willing to share. Drive 10 minutes and you'll find Lake Nockamixon, antiques shops, and quaint enclaves like Frenchtown.'

J U S T A D D E D !

Completely refreshed in 2017, this log home has a chef's kitchen with all new stainless steel appliances and granite counters. The original handmade cabinets and built-ins have been retained.

The new master bedroom has a large living space with 2 sets of French doors looking out over the front of the property. The bedroom has a king bed completely adjustable by remote, including massage. French doors off the bedroom lead directly to the patio and hot tub.

While the whole home is newly furnished, unique antique pieces fill the property with character. The huge dining room seats 12, and adjoins the living room for perfect entertaining.

There are two bedrooms and a bath on the 2nd floor.

Providing a spa experience, the main house bath has a claw foot tub, shower and a complete collection of bath salts and other skin products.

The gourmet kitchen is fully stocked and has a dining area and long counter to accommodate guests family and the chef.

The apartment has a large living room, bedroom and bath. There are queen size sofa beds in the living rooms of the main house, Master Suite and apartment.

Large flat screens are in the living room, three bedrooms and the living space of the private suite. There is Wi-Fi service. A complete package of premium channels, sports and children's programming provides all guests with multiple choices for TV viewing. A wireless printer for convenient printing of local destinations and directions caps off a most technologically sophisticated package tucked in a country log home environment.

Outdoors is landscaped and beautiful from all four sides of the house. The front yard is long, wide and rolling, with a park-like atmosphere. One side of the house has a raised garden, and the other a large deck with two tables and 14 chairs. There is a 6 burner gas grill on the deck. The back yard is wide and flat, with many visits by deer and a large variety of birds.

Extra features include a full size second refrigerator, and two pop-up picnic tables with built-in seating that each seat 4.

About Chuck Finch

I live in downtown Philadelphia in a 4 story townhouse built in 1803. I grew up in a family that developed property for over 100 years, so my love of interesting architecture and restoring houses is in my blood.

Chuck Finch purchased this house in 2012

Why Chuck Finch chose Upper Black Eddy

There is no type of property that offers such a distinctly warm and welcoming appeal as a log home. By updating the house without making it too contemporary, I think that Raspberry Hill has a unique combination of sophistication and rustic charm.

What makes this house unique

The outdoor property is very private and quite beautiful. Although a cozy log house, all of the technology and luxury you could ever want is available.

Great House! Will exceed your expectations

  • 5 of 5

Very rarely do you pull up to a rental house and it far surpasses the pictures online. This house blew us away. Our group enjoyed an amazing long weekend at this beautiful home. The owner Chuck was so accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and great to cook in. All the bedrooms were spacious and well appointed with comfortable beds. The fireplace was amazing and we really enjoyed the hot tub while it was snowing. I can't say enough about this home, we will definitely be back. I highly recommend as everything was absolutely perfect!

Perfect extended family weekend celebration!

  • 5 of 5

Our family celebrated my parents’ 50tn wedding anniversary at this beautiful house. Ages 3 - 72 there was something for everyone. The new master suite was perfect for my parents: bright, sunny, first floor, comfortable and beautifully decorated.

The rest of the house was cozy and warm for 4 kids and their parents. We all used the hot tub and loved it! We cooked delicious dinners in the fully stocked kitchen and enjoyed them at the long dining table. This experience was pure luxury! Chuck was very responsive and kind. Wow!

Amazing winter weekend

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about the home, or responsiveness of the owner, Chuck. My large family gathered in this amazing home to celebrate my moms birthday, and it could not have been better. We all hope to visit again one day.

A cosy and very charming house

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay, Charles is a very great man always available to help. A nice welcome gift was on the counter when we arrived, which makes it even better. Hot tub is definitely a plus. I only wish I knew there was no speakers so I would have brought mine. Bedrooms are very comfy and it’s such a quiet place, ideal for family reunion or peaceful week end between friends

Owner's Response: Hugo! So much fun texting back and forth during your stay. But you didn't read all of the manual I sent. The living room and dining room have JBL bluetooth stereo light bulb speakers in all the floor lamps. You could have been streaming music the whole time. There's also a Google Home, Mini, and next week a Max in the house. Next time you come you'll be able to play music all over the place! Best, Chuck

Perfect Thanksgiving Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Upper Black Eddy was just perfect for our Thanksgiving family weekend. The property has a private setting and is quite and tranquil, with easy access to local amenities. The house is well appointed with comfortable beds, quality linens, properly furnished interiors, and a fabulous hot tub. The kitchen had every little thing we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving celebration. Chuck Finch was able to provide helpful responses to all of our questions, and provide recommendations to local attractions and services. Upper Black Eddy is our new favourite vacation house and we will look forward to our next stay. Highly recommended!
