Guestbook comments from the owner

"A casa e o lugar encantam... A casa é de cinema, com vista para o azul e para o horizonte sinuoso. A decoração é de muito bom gosto e tem tudo a ver com a natureza. É completa, nada falta nela. E, o mais incrível, é ecológica, o que nos permite usufruir do lugar com paz na consciência.

O lugar é fantástico: um mergulho na natureza. Céu, mar, montanhas, árvores, pássaros... Ruídos? Só os que vêm do mundo natural... O silêncio completa a beleza do lugar.

E para completar, a alegria, o bom humor e a gentileza de Yara que sabe receber como ninguém quem lá chega. Recepção perfeita!

Foram dias de paz e alegria... Dias azuis...

The house and the place enchant ... The house is cinema, overlooking the blue and the winding horizon. The decor is tasteful and has everything to do with nature. It is complete, nothing is lacking in it. And, most amazing, is environmentally friendly, allowing us to enjoy the place with peace of mind. The place is fantastic: a dip in nature. Sky, sea, mountains, trees, birds ... Noise? Only those who come from the natural world ... Silence completes the beauty of the place. And to complete, joy, good humor and kindness of Yara who knows how to get anyone who gets there. Perfect welcome! They were days of peace and joy ... Blue Days ..."

Tranquil Relaxing bit of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

After a hectic and exhausting week at the Rio Olympics (which was most enjoyable), Casa Tataruga was just what the doctor ordered!! It was like being cast away on your own desert island away from modern life but with all the mod cons on hand. The whole experience was an adventure.....the peace and tranquility of where the house is situated, being able to connect with a world that normally doesn't exist in our everyday lives. Yara was fantastic in ensuring that our needs were catered for and ensured that our holiday was everything that we had hoped for. Some of the largest prawns I have ever seen would appear via Suelee who also prepared a mean creme caramel for us. Yara arranged for a trip to a mountain village where we just happened to stop off at a distillery at 1000 for some light refreshment, a lavender farm owned by an Englishman in the middle of nowhere, then on to various pottery studios and finally to a hidden restaurant where the owner prepared a delicious lunch in very tranquil setting. There is a secluded beach next door to the house with a school which is populated by a small group of young children who arrive in the morning by boat!!! We were also entertained one Sunday by a 5 a side soccer tournament on the beach. Casa Tartaruga lived up to its name when we saw a turtle languidly swimming by on more than one occasion. All in all it is a quiet, tranquil place - a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of life. The weather was hot and it was such a pleasure to be able to drop into the sea to cool off. I didn't use the kayak or paddle ski because it would entail a level of effort that I didn't want to muster. Batteries were fully charged when I returned to the UK. Can't wait to go back there.

A wonderful holiday house

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Casa Tartaruga after our daughter's wedding in Sao Paulo in May. It was the perfect place for our family and the bride to relax and recover after the celebrations. The house is lovely, peaceful and very well cared for. Yara manages it beautifully, was very helpful and was always available when needed and Sueli kept it spotlessly clean. We loved swimming from the jetty just below the house, BBQing fish on the veranda and had a happy time on boat trips and exploring along the coast path. Paraty is worth many visits and, as our visit was mid season, the town was very quiet. It is a beautiful place for a holiday away from a busy world. Do hope to return one day.

many thanks from all the Buchan family . Fiona

Peaceful and Tranquil stay in Casa Tartaruga

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Casa Tartaruga. It is truly paradise. The home is beautiful and located in a tranquil area with a small private beach just steps away. It far exceeded our expectations. It was perfect to accommodate my wife and myself along with our two friends who stayed in the Stonehouse. Everyone was able to have privacy while still enjoying each other’s company. A clear view of the bay can be seen from the living room and master bedroom and it was breathtaking to see the sunrise lighting up across the bay in the morning. Although being an eco house nothing was lacking. Yara made our arrival seamless. She was waiting for us at the pier in Paraty with a boat transfer and made sure our groceries were stocked and Sueli was on hand to cook a delicious meal. Yara was on hand whenever we needed and also arranged early departure from the home to ensure we returned to the airport in time for our flight home as well. There are many activities to do including hiking, swimming, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding the coast. It was relaxing just sitting out on the dock watching the boats passing by on the bay. We also enjoyed a short 20 min boat ride back to Paraty. The town is quaint and the shops are full of hidden treasures. It was nice to return to peace at the end of the day and more of Sueli’s cooking.

Thank you Sue for such a well cared for property.

We had an amazing time and look forward to returning soon.

Paradise on earth

  • 5 of 5

If you are on this page, you have already chosen to visit in the most beautiful bay of South Brazil and you have made the right choice. If you wish to relax and enjoy the bay, Casa Tartaruga is certainly the most quiet and delicious place to stay in Paraty. Pictures on the website are great but do not even reflect totally how amazing and quiet the atmosphere of this place is. We had a wonderful stay there. The house in only 15 minutes from the village by boat. We were lucky to visit the amazing beaches and islands of the bay with Eli and his boat '' Nativo''. We also enjoyed nice rides with the kayak available at the house. The peer below the house is also very nice to jump in the water or just relax. Last but not least : we would like to thank Sue, the owner of the house, and Yara, who is taking care of everything there, for their more than friendly and warm wellcome . Thank you Sue and Yara !!! Take care and see you again !! Pierre, Patricia, Mathilde and Juliette Hott from France

A piece of paradise in a wonderful situation

  • 5 of 5

This is a piece of paradise - an amazing house, very tranquil with beautiful views.and small private beach. The house is stunning and has everything you need, including a discreet and efficient cleaner, Suelee, and gardner Tipa. Yara, property manager, will

act as translator and order anything you wish - transfers/local information/organise day trips. The bird life is wonderful, and marmosets and monkeys were seen in the gardens - very exciting.

Old Parity itself, a short boat trip away, is colourful and atmospheric and well worth visiting. It was a wonderful experience and I would definitely go back to Casa Tataruga.

Casa Tartaruga Parity Brazil

  • 5 of 5

Excellent accommodation - large modern house, well maintained by Yara et al and stylishly decorated.

An unforgettable stay. As can be seen from the photos, the house is set in atlantic rainforest, so we were surrounded by exotic tropical trees and plants. Both the living room and master bedroom had vista windows - stunning views straight over the bay, film-set sunsets. Swam every day from the little beach, and pottered round the local islands and restaurants by boat. We left papaya fruit on the balcony so the local tropical birds would come and feed, and we watched them from a hammock. I would have been happy not to move an inch, but the colonial Portuguese town with cobbled streets had too much to offer. Beware the local brew caipirinha - quite lethal.

Car: not necessary

The house is located in extensive private gardens which lead down to Baré Beach (home to a small, friendly community) and overlooks the spectacular Bay of Paraty. Swim or fish directly off the private dock or from the sheltered beach, walk along coastal paths or hire a boat to idyllic beaches and sample superb regional seafood or just relax on the decks and watch the world go by. The charming Portuguese colonial town of Paraty, a short boat ride away, offers excellent facilities for shopping, restaurants and further excursions to islands, fantastic beaches, and activities such as fishing, diving and trekking. The town hosts numerous festivals, including Jazz, Food, and Film, the best known being the International Literary Festival (FLIP), and of course the annual Carnival. Paraty itself lies between Sao Paulo (330km) and Rio de Janeiro (236 km) on the BR 101 with good public and private transport links between both (between 4 and 6 hour journey). There is also a small airport.
