About Sendaf

Our family purchased this property shortly after visiting a close friend who lives in the area. It was one of the first properties we saw, and we kept on coming back to it. You will feel the same way!

Sendaf purchased this chateau / country house in 2013

Why Sendaf chose Copake

The property has a Estate feeling and while being within a 5-minute drive to downtown Hillsdale, nearby farms and cultural attractions, it is one of the few properties in the area abutting the State Park with direct access to trails from its own backyard while sitting on the top of the hill with Northern views of the Berkshires and Western views of the Catskills. It is the perfect place to vacation all-year-round.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Newly furnished with contemporary and transitional furniture. Fresh/new linens provided.

Extremely comfortable house ideal for relaxation and/or entertainment. Conveniently located to nearby Catamount Ski and Adventure Area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My family and I stayed at this house for a weekend. And the pictures on this website do not do the house any justice. The house is beautiful. The views are exceptional. The owner was very helpful with all my questions and concerns as was the caretaker. She was there to greet us at the door and showed us around the house. I will definitely be returning again with my family.

Huge house up a private road!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in Copake over Labor Day weekend! The house is very spacious and in good condition. Perfect for multiple couples with kids. The kitchen and dining area are perfect for large groups and the property is beautiful. The WiFi signal isn’t very consistent but it works enough if you’re not trying to work a full day. The owner is responsive and brought a lovely welcome gift for us. We hope to be back again next year.

Beautiful house and grounds!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family vacation (11 persons). The house and grounds are beautiful, well looked after and very conveniently stocked with all the amenities one could need. there is enough room and privacy for all between the 2 living rooms, deck, grounds, and pool area. The owner was very gracious and always available to answer questions or help with local services. My only complaint, and it is minor, is that the wifi was annoyingly weak and sporadic.

A Contemporary Secluded Mountain Top Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

My family had a peaceful relaxing weekend in this fully equipped house. It was clean spacious, and very private, located atop a hill overlooking a valley and the mountains beyond, which you can see from the pool area. We brought too much stuff as the kitchen was fully stocked, in some ways better than our own home. The pool was clean and inviting, the gas fired barbecue worked well, and the A/C (it was in the 90's) was just fine. The bedding was clean and the beds were comfortable. We went to nearby Bish Bash Falls for a fun hike and some walking among the stream and rocks. We went to a winery, and on Saturday night enjoyed a production at The Stockbridge summer stock theatre, about 35 minutes away.. The rent is a bit pricey but I guess you get what you pay for. The owner is a stand-up guy and we'd go back there again..

Gorgeous home and views

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful stay at this house for our friend's bachelorette party. It was perfect for a big group, and the pool really made the weekend. The big kitchen is also incredible and so fun to cook in. All around just a gorgeous house with beautiful views in a beautiful location. The owners are very easy to coordinate with. Highly recommend!

A fun family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful spacious home with plenty of room for our group of ten, three young children and seven adults . The master bedroom and wonderful bathroom was in its own wing upstairs . Down the hall was another bedroom also quite private. The three downstairs bedrooms and two bathrooms fit our needs perfectly. The house is large with plenty of room for all to spread out and relax. The furnishings were lovely and couches were very comfortable, the kitchen and dining area were great and large. All the bathrooms were very clean and modern in design . The weather was good while we were there so we spent a lot of time in the heated pool. The pool lounges were comfortable and the pool towels were plentiful. We all hiked up the nearby falls, it’s a beautiful spot and definitely something to see. The little town of Hillsdale is charming and we all enjoyed delicious ice cream at the local shop. The IGA supermarket is in Hillsdale and had all we needed for our stay. We take a family vacation in the summer every year and enjoy using HomeAway to find homes that suit our needs. In addition I’d like to add that the property manager was very responsive to any questions we had and helped us promptly .

Come for the pool, stay for the kitchen!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our week at this house. It is a hilltop oasis in a lovely part of the Berkshires, close enough to the town of Great Barrington for shopping and dining out, but secluded enough so that you have as much privacy as you desire.

The kitchen was particularly enjoyable to the chef in our party, as it is stocked more than most vacation rentals, as well as equipped with a fantastic Viking stove that we used at least 4 times in our short week.

We enjoyed eating on the outdoor patio around the side, with its lovely view of the sunset each night. (Great outdoor furniture at this house too.)

The house itself, while showing age in some respects, is a comfortable place for multiple teens and adults, with enough space for all to stretch out and socialize or hibernate (as teens tend to do).

The pool was the draw for us, and it was very nice to be in such a beautiful, secluded spot for our almost daily swimming. The owner is accessible & friendly, and i suspect would have not minded being 'bugged' with a few more questions than i actually asked. (for example, I should have asked where there was a poolside umbrella, as the sun got a little taxing on our last few days, and it would have been nice to have some shade.)

Kudos too for the luxurious yet simple bedding in the various bedrooms. The master bedroom was very comfortable each night, and we loved its expansive views.

Going into G. Barrington was not the chore I had feared it would be; the drive is lovely and seemed shorter each time (approx. 20 minutes). The much closer local market in Hillside has most things you would need and is only about 5 minutes down highway 23.

Local attractions are close, and we really enjoyed our trip to Bash Bish Falls, which was stunning. Even more stunning was the huge brown bear we encountered on the trail! Scary but awesome and thankfully he (she?) slowly walked up into the woods after noticing us. We saw a lot of fun wildlife on this trip - skunks, wild turkeys, bears, and chipmunks.

In short, a lovely getaway in a beautiful part of the U.S.
