Celebrating 100+ years...This 1914 'Four Square' home is located in the historic Cheesman Park neighborhood, adjacent to the Capitol Hill neighborhood. In 2002, a Denver architect purchased the building and spent $475,000 restoring it to two single-family attached homes. The renovation project garnered a 2006 Restoration for Living Award from Historic Denver. Mission Revival and Spanish Colonial influences, Art Nouveau stained glass, and a turn-of-the-century reproduction fireplace from England are just a few of this home's architectural features.
This superbly renovated and immaculately maintained home is centrally located and close to all that Denver has to offer. Numerous restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and grocery stores (King Soopers, Whole Foods and Safeway) are within walking distance. Four blocks away from historic Cheesman Park, where you can enjoy its walking/jogging/biking paths, flower beds, pavilion, picnic tables, playground, and scenic views. Cheesman Park and the neighborhood around it abound with history that goes back to the founding of Denver City, as Denver was named in 1859.
The home consists of three levels:
MAIN LEVEL — Living room with gas fireplace and Sony 55-inch HDTV w/DirecTV, kitchen, dining room and powder room. The kitchen is fully equipped for a simple meal or gourmet dinner. High-end appliances, outdoor natural gas grill, and dining room directly off the kitchen seats 2-6 people.
UPSTAIRS — Master suite with king-size bed, dresser, Sony 50-inch flat-screen HDTV w/DirecTV, balcony, luxurious bathroom and walk-in closet.
DOWNSTAIRS — Second bedroom with queen-size bed, dresser, Sony 50-inch flat-screen HDTV w/DirecTV, desk with ergonomic chair, full bathroom and washer/dryer.
This home offers several great spots to sit outside and enjoy the afternoon or evening. In addition to the balcony off the master suite, there is a covered porch and walled courtyard. Grab a book, your favorite beverage and enjoy being in one of Denver's best neighborhoods. In the spring and summer, the courtyard is a great place for morning coffee, lunch, or a backyard BBQ. The courtyard includes an outdoor dining table with seating for six people, and a natural gas grill. The front of the house faces west so you can watch the sunset every night from either the front porch or balcony. There is a detached, oversized (562 sq. ft.) two-car garage that can fit full size trucks with room to spare for luggage, skis or additional items.

What a wonderful trip. From booking to departure, the process was hassle free. The host was so thoughtful. Thinking of his guest, luggage racks to hold our suitcases, but plenty of room in the closest and drawers to make ourselves at home. Make-up remover in the bathrooms, a couple of laundry pods just in case you need to do a load of laundry, coffee for our first day, not to mention a welcome card and chocolates. I travel frequently, and stay at several rentals, and this was by far above and top-notch. House was clean and more than ready for guest. I had no issues with booking, entry and checkout was a breeze. Location was wonderful, walked to a coffee shop down the street as well as the grocery store on the corner. Loved sitting on the porch with a glass of wine and enjoying the quiet neighboorhood. Easy access to downtown and the convention center. Craig was very helpful and was available to answer questions if we needed anything. This is the only place I'll be staying when I travel to Denver again. Just hoping its available :)

I stayed here with my wife and daughter for spring break, and this property is everything I hoped it would be. The quality and attention to detail offered by this property, and the owners, provides an excellent overall experience. The location was great to serve as a hub for traveling in and around the Denver area. The two car garage is a blessing, as parking is a premium in this trendy neighborhood. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend this property to anyone who appreciates high value. We are looking forward to returning!
We were so pleased with our choice of 1000 Downing Street. Classy, clean, “well thought out” home with all the amenities. Loved that there was a grocery store and some fun restaurants within walking distance of this property. Having use of the double car garage and not having to worry about parking was worth the money. Property owners were very responsive and easy to contact. We would definitely stay at this property again!
We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely, well-appointed and convenient property from February 8 - 12, 2018. You can trust that the pictures and description of the property and amenities are spot on accurate. The attention to detail in this unit is well appreciate and rises well above other properties in the area. It is perfect for 1 or 2 couples particularly if you enjoy a beautiful renovated historic environment. Don't under value the two car garage that you get to enjoy particularly when it is snowing outside. I highly recommend this property and will be booking it again on return visits to the Denver area.
This was my third stay at the Downing/Cheesman home - a five-night stay; now under new ownership, I had a tidbit of hesitation in re-booking, naturally, however, the home, for all utility purpose is the same. The new owner, Missy, and her property manager, Gabriel, were diligent, responsive and kind.
We continue to love the home's location in the city - super easy to get around all-things Denver - and the two-car dedicated garage is clutch! Such a huge factor. The home is comfortable, spacious, well-stocked and overall, it's works so darn-well for my son (2.5years old now) and I. The linens are quality, so is the bedding, the fireplace, the wood floors, it's charming - and it all works. The use of a full-size clothes washer and dryer is helpful too.
I love the home - it continues to be the right spot / right fit when I visit Denver.
This home was very clean, very accommodating. Within walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery store and park.
The garage was a great feature considering it snowed when we were there. Missy had put up a Christmas tree for us which made our stay, so much like being at home for the holidays! Thank you missy for helping to make our vacation special.
