The building dates from 1858, however, the internal accommodation is every inch 21st century living. Providing accommodation for up to 8 people in the form of 4 double or twin bedded rooms each with television, 2 with en-suite facilities, a further full bathroom and separate cloakroom; dining area - seats 8; gourmet kitchen with range cooker, and a large comfortable living area, with seating for 8, WiFi broadband and washing and drying facilities are in house.

Externally a large courtyard houses a secure storage facility for golf equipment, bikes, etc., and a front courtyard provides off street parking. A rear garden is there for relaxing in / BBQ.

Set in the grounds of historic Tranent Parish Manse, with easy access from the A1 motorway, the Stables provides an ideal luxury retreat or staging point for access to East Lothians Golf Courses countryside hiking and biking, sailing and windsurfing, and many other local attractions.

Clean, modern, spacious, lovely

The property was perfect for my sister and I, plus 5 children, plenty of space, clean and very well equipped. The owners were very friendly and quick to accommodate, even packed our Tesco delivery shop away for us, greatly appreciated. A really lovely house, 20 mins from centre of Edinburgh/ 5 mins from lovely beach, would definitely recommend and will be rebooking for next year.

Perfect Place

Excellent property for our family with 2 adults and 3 Kids (16, 14,10). Everyone felt at home. From the separate parking place, full equipped kitchen, spacy living room - everything is available and absolute nothing to criticise.

Reliable Organisation during booking process as well as during arrival and departure. Catherine and Alastair are great Hosts. So the property should receive 6 Rating stars !!!!

For Golfers: Tranent is located very central to many courses (Gullane, Craigilaw). Also try Kings Acre !!

We will come back for sure !!

Fabulous property, we plan to return.

Based on the excellent reviews, we arranged a family gathering at The Stables. It was everything we were expecting & more. The property was beautifully & tastefully renovated. It was extremely welcoming & comfortable & enjoyed by everyone who stayed there. The owners Alastair & Catherine were very helpful & accomodating with excellent communication. Ideally located for Edinburgh, the surrounding area & local attractions. We can recommend Giancarlos Italian restaurant in Tranent. Loved Duncan, the owners Great Dane, who came to visit regularly. We all had a fabulous stay & will definately be returning sometime in the future.

Beautiful accommodation with very welcoming and friendly owners. Perfect getaway for both families or group of friends. Great correspondence throughout the booking process. Will definitely be back! We miss Duncan the dog already!

Fabulous!!!

8 of us stayed here for a girly weekend away! We cannot praise it enough! The welcome we received was lovely and warm (as was every encounter with the owners). Everyone felt so relaxed and at home. The house is spotlessly clean too and spacious enough for us all not to be getting under each other’s feet. Everything you could possibly need is supplied for you…hair dryers, washing powder…you name it, it’s there! About 30 minutes taxi drive into the main city costing around £35-£40 (Capital Cars were amazing). Cannot recommend The Stables enough! Perfect place and already planning our return! Big love to Duncan the Dog who made a huge impression on us all too!
