Live like a local in this heritage listed, light filled house on a quiet street in the tiny suburb voted Australia's best! Walking distance to St Kilda Beach, Albert Park Lake, Middle Park Village, Fitzroy St, MSAC, Catani Gardens and public transport. Explore all of Melbourne from the comfort of this oasis. 2 nearby tramlines take you to the city centre in an easy 15 minute ride. For those with cars, there is unlimited street parking and bicycle routes abound.
Relax in the beautiful living room with it's garden aspect or in our extra chill spots - a reading nook in the picture window, a private sitting space in the largest bedroom and another in the mezzanine.
There are 4 bedrooms, one with a King Bed, 2 with queen beds, one with 2 single beds.
Currently there isn't a photo of Bed 3 with it's 2 single beds. The bed shown in Bed 3 is now in Bed 4.
I should say here the couch in the mezzanine is also a double bed, probably better suited to one person than two. We also have a single foldaway bed that can go in any room and a portacot.
For Guests with Children: Please note there are some steep stairs to the open mezzanine. There is a stair gate up to stop access. There is a big drop from the open mezzanine to the living room below.
The family bathroom has a shower, large bath, 2 basins and toilet. The biggest bedroom has an ensuite with toilet, large shower and handbasin as well as a European laundry.
The kitchen is well-equipped. We will provide basic cooking necessities like oils, salt and pepper, spices etc.
There are 2 supermarkets nearby - a small one in Middle Park Village or the bigger one, a Woolworths St Kilda, at the next tram stop. There is also a gourmet grocery in Middle Park along with several coffee shops and 4 good restaurants. South Melbourne market is also only 5 minutes away by car or tram. It's open Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The longer you stay, the better discount we can give. Please contact me if you'd like to stay longer than one week.
Guests can use all the areas shown in the photos.
This is the best part of Melbourne! The house is between Albert Park Lake and St Kilda beach in a beautiful heritage suburb. There are tons of things to see and do. All the photos in this listing were taken within a 10 minute walk from the house. ( I do seem to get the camera out more at sunset!) The area is known for it's restaurants and cafes, as well as for the beach.
Ride a tram ( the 96 tram is apparently one of the 10 best tram rides in the world). Get on and off in the city and trendy Brunswick. Drink coffee. Hire a bike. Walk to the beach, walk down the pier and visit the penguins, sail on the lake, feed the swans, hire a paddle board or kite board at the beach. This is where the current World Champion kite boarder learnt! Cycle by the bay or by the Yarra River. There are lots of bike trails.
In the city, go to the theatre, the galleries, the botanical gardens, explore the laneways and, of course, drink coffee.
Further afield, visit a winery in the Yarra Valley for the day ( you can take a tour from the city), visit the Mornington Peninsula, drive down the Great Ocean Road....I'm happy to give you information, if you'd like it.
