About this property

Vilavala: Nestling in fragrant green pines above sparkling blue Aegean waters

A traditional architecture, stone constructed house totalling 138 square meters.
It is a two stories house consisting of three spacious bedrooms and WC upstairs and sitting room, kitchen and WC, downstairs and an outside WC.. The “Vilavala” can sleep 6 up to 8 persons.
The house is surrounded by large outside verandas, on different levels, of more than 200 square meters.
It is built on the bank of one of the most marvellous bays of Alonnisos with blue and turquoise clean and crystal clear seawaters.
It is situated amongst pine trees (pinus halepensis), olive threes and cared for original Mediterranean vegetation.
Since the villa is built on a large olive grove where the only other house is some distance away its secluded position secures total privacy to the residents.

The surrounding landscape conveys the feeling of inner tranquillity while the views over the blue waters below extend all the way to the “gates” of the Marine Park (the protected, for the Monk seals, area).

Perfect holiday at Vilavala
Vilavala is perfect. Situated in a secluded area overlooking the turquoise waters of Agios Petros bay and the stretch of deep water towards Peristera island allows for visual delight and serenity. To wake to this is wonderful, watching the yachts and fishing boats pass by. The villa provides everything you need for a relaxing, memorable and comfortable holiday, we have already decided to return. The concrete pontoon allows for easy access to the water that is full of intriguing and colourful fish when snorkelling. The canoes allowed us to explore the coastline and find secluded coves. The home is a treasure trove of antiquity, every detail has been artfully created. The outside marble table was brilliant for sharing meals or working. The bbq area added another dimension to meals. A short walk to taverna’s for fabulous food, with fresh seafood. Plus a supermarket nearby. We walked and explored the differing areas of the island, we swam, we read books, we created art, we enjoyed every aspect of Vilavala and Alonnisos an island of magnificent natural beauty. Yannis the host was brilliant. His generous personality and information was clear and an in-depth knowledge of Alonnisos. Thank you we all had a wonderful holiday,

Excellent location
Thank you Yannis for enabling us to stay at vila Vala. The house was perfect, the location just what we needed. Your assistance was very much appreciated, and the trip to the marine park was the icing on the cake. The short walk to Steni Vala for groceries, coffee and fresh fish dinners kept us moving... otherwise we hardly shifted from the patio’s perfect view of the sea and islands. Highly recommended.

Pure paradise
This place was pure paradise! The beautiful stone home has it's own private corner overlooking the most stunning cove literally steps below you. It's so perfect if you enjoy a quiet lush piece of paradise among locals and away from crowds, exactly what we were looking for. We wished we had more time there but will defnitely be back! The owner Yannis is so lovely as well and goes out of his way to make you feel wlecome and help you in any way. This was by far the highlight of our entire trip!

Beautiful and peaceful
Villa Vala is a beautiful and rustic villa in a dream location. The host Yannis is attentive and polite and clearly looks after his home which has been tended to over the years with love, and he cares about his guests. The location has to be seen to be believed. We like basic simple things and this type of nature cannot be improved upon. A semi private jetty a few minutes walk away gives access to the clear Aegean blue sea water in tranquil bay of Agios Petros. we were a little worried that there is no aircon, or mosquito nets and the water pressure is low in the shower in the summer but none of that mattered. There were no mosquitoes for some reason, the natural breeze was perfect and the outdoor shower was a treat. A lovely walk across the hillside to the nearby village of Steni Vala for provisions or restaurants feels like going back in time. We will definitely be back, thank you Yannis!

A Memorable Stay
We had a wonderful stay at Vila Vala. The house is an amazing place which has been built in the traditional Greek style by its owner Yiannis. It’s position is perfect, above one of the nicest beaches on Alonissos. Superlatives don’t do justice to the location, if you want peace and to be surrounded by nature. We spent our time snorkelling and relaxing by the sea. Inside the house is traditional and full of the art and crafts which Yiannis has collected. It’s not a usual holiday rental, more an experience of living in the house of a Greek friend. Restaurants are a short walk to Steni Vala. Yiannis is a gracious and welcoming host, who enjoys sharing his knowledge of the island and is always on hand to make your stay special.

I was born and raised on Alonnisos. At the age of fifteen all the family moved to Athens where I studied Economics at the University of Athens and then I worked as a sales manager.
Twenty three years later I returned to Alonnisos where I have been involved in the nature protection of the island and the formation of the Marine Park for the protection of the Monk seals Monachus-monachus and other rare species.
Vilavala is built on my family land where I spent a great deal of my summer holidays after school and later after work,.
I was keen to construct Vilavala with respect to traditional architecture and the nature protection. The material used is stone and wood and not a single tree was removed from the land and all the natural vegetation flourishes.
Vilavala always offers a warm and homely atmosphere...

Why they chose this property

As children after the school was finished for summer holidays my two other cousins and I, were coming to Agios Petros (the name of the location) and we spent two months to this lovely place staying with our wonderful grandparents!!
We were all the day at the beach swimming and fishing.
We learned early to fish and we earned our "livelihood"ourshelves!!
Our grandmother was so happy to cook whatever we brought her, (small) fish, crabs, limpets,e.t.c.
This family land has a long tradition and history from our ancestors and this is the reason that all cousins here we love and respect this place and take a good care for this !!
