Quaint & Cozy Apartment w/Solar on 14 Gorgeous Acres Just Minutes From Ann Arbor

Bedrooms 1
Space 51 m²
Property type bungalow

About the property

550 Square Foot 'Home' With Private Entrance, Kitchen And Bath.

Visiting your U of M student for the holidays or coming to the Detroit area to visit friends or family or do business? This is the PERFECT LOCATION if you desire a cozy, comfortable, private, and clean place to stay while visiting the Ann Arbor or southeastern Michigan areas.

This apartment is newer construction and includes slate flooring, bay window and gorgeous view of the naturalized acreage in the backyard. There are two main living areas to relax in: a spacious bedroom and 20x14 living area. The décor is neutral and features interesting little owner finds from their antique-ing, garage sale-ing and DIY-ing. Tons of storage is at your disposal if you’re considering an extended stay.

The kitchen area is fully equipped with everything you’ll need to make yourself at home: full-size refrigerator & apartment-size stove, pots & pans, dishes & stemware, cooking utensils, serving bowls & silverware. We even throw in the coffee & fixin’s to help get you going in the morning.

Your bathroom features full-sized tub and plenty of room to move around. A bench seat and plenty of plush towels are included. You also have access to the laundry area.

Did we happen to mention the house sits on nearly fourteen acres? It is set back from the road to afford you plenty of privacy, yet in a residential area so you’re not isolated by any means. You’ll love sipping your coffee on the porch in the morning, hanging out by the campfire at night, or taking a quick run through the fields and woods behind the house when feeling the need to get some quick exercise in.

Oh, and there’s a pool and two-person hot tub, so you’ll want to bring your suit. The backyard area features two BBQ grills (both charcoal and gas so you don’t have to choose!), spacious deck and five foot in-ground swimming pool. (For safety reasons, no one under 18 is allowed in the pool area without a parent or guardian present.)

While we're not environmental fanatics, we do what we can to minimize our impact on the planet. You'll find gardens, rain barrel, lots of naturalized area and solar panels on the property. We do compost and recycle, and encourage our guests to do the same.

Want a special meal prepared or to host an event for family or friends? A former Las Vegas sous chef lives next door - he is available for catering or small dinner party service, schedule permitting, of course.

Click the "Book It" button now to make a reservation. PLEASE CHECK OUR CALENDAR FOR AVAILABILITY first as it is always kept up-to-date. Or send an inquiry for an exact quote if that is important to you. The automated process sometimes includes items/doesn't include items in their quote so it is rarely correct. Make sure to mention if you're bringing a pet. We look forward to having you! (Maximum 2-week rental term.)

About Tracy Ball

Dave and I have known each other since our senior year of high school. We spent senior weekend together camping with a group of our friends and haven’t been apart much since. We've been married 36 years, and most of them have been pretty darn good.

Our daughter lives in Seattle; our son and his family are transitioning back here from Las Vegas. His family includes our first and only grandchild.

We love being empty-nesters, and we also love traveling the country to see the kids (who have also resided in Chattanooga, Texas and Virginia Beach.) I just got my own motorcycle so we can both ride together or alone. We adore – well, at least I do – our Great Dane, Memphis, and are on our 8th Jeep. Guess you could say we are trying to enjoy life while we can.

'We have our health and family. Life is better than we deserve!'

Tracy Ball purchased this bungalow in 2005

Why Tracy Ball chose Michigan

We have lived in the Belleville area for over 25 years ... it has been an amazing place to raise our family and grow older together. It affords us the best of both worlds ... rural setting to be close to nature yet close enough to the city so that when we want to mix and mingle it up with people, we're just a short drive away.

It has been a pure joy to hop on the bike (motor or pedal) and explore the surrounding area. Everything you might possibly want or need out of life is just around the corner from here.

What makes this bungalow unique

This property was the perfect place where we could care for our aging parents. The house is a ranch design, and we were able to create separate living quarters for them out of the attached garage.

Now that they no longer need it, we've decided to share this comfortable space with others. It's important to have a nice, clean, secure location while away from home. It is so much better than a cold and maybe clean hotel room or the awkwardness and perhaps inconvenience of staying with friends or relatives. We've used VRBO numerous times and always found it a great experience.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for helping us with Flash, our 2 1/2-year-old Bassador. He loved running around in the snow.

Perfect place to stay for Ann Arbor or Detroit

  • 5 of 5

We lucked out when we found Tracy and Dave's place. They have thought of everything to make this place a cozy home away from home. They include so many special extras--like local jam, speciality soaps, soft towels, a hammock and too many more to mention. It is not in Ann Arbor or Detroit, but that makes it all the better. It is beautiful and quiet at night-perfect for sleeping. Tracy and Dave make you feel at home and are happy to help with any problem (like locking ourselves out) or any question we might have had. It will be where we choose to stay when visiting Ann Arbor or Detroit. We loved the walking trails around the property that Dave keeps mowed for the guest. This has to be the nicest VRBO that we have stayed in so far!

Owner's Response: Man, we've had a lot of nice reviews, but yours is definitely right there up at the top. Dave and I love having people at our home and doing what we can to make their visit as enjoyable as possible. It's so reassuring to know we're on the right track ... but having great guests like you makes it especially easy! See you again, we hope.

Very Clean, Friendly, Safe Area

  • 5 of 5

Welcomed from Dave and Tracy the second we got there! Extremely nice people. Place was cozy, clean, very dog friendly with there dog being a big ham. It was outside the big city making it feel safe and secure. Would recommend this rental to anyone!!

Owner's Response: Yeah, Memphis can definitely be a ham. But we especially enjoyed you and your wife's company, hanging out around the hot tub and playing with the grandson. It was a perfect night. And your car - we've told more people about it, and we appreciate you taking it out of the trailer to show it to us. We hope you guys come back to our area frequently. You are welcome any time!

This is the best place we have ever stayed. Including hotels and timeshares.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. Tracy and Dave are there if you need but they don't bother you at all if not. The apartment is perfect. It was cleaner then any hotel we have ever stayed at and everything you can think of is there. Even our grandchildren had things to do. The yard is beautiful and so peaceful and quiet. We will be back every time we come to Michigan (which is alot to visit our children and grandchildren) Thank you so much for the wonderful time!!!

A nice getaway

  • 5 of 5

We traveled here with our 1-year daughter for a weekend family getaway. We liked that there was a lot to do on the property itself, and we were only a half-hour away from Ann Arbor and Detroit for fun day trips.

We enjoyed lounging in the hammock, soaking in the hot tub, and shooting basketball in the driveway.

The apartment was very clean, cozy, and fit our needs. Owners were extremely attentive and helpful, they genuinely wanted to make sure we completely enjoyed our stay!

Owner's Response: We loved having you and your daughter. As we mentioned, our only grandchild lives in Las Vegas. So any time we have children around it is a real pleasure. So glad you chose our place for your first real family vacation. Hope to see you again! Tracy

Amazing place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from our trip to Michigan with our 4 year old, 1 year old, and two dogs. We had the pleased of staying at this property. It is private, quiet, and feels like home away from home. There was literally everything you could possibly think of in the house. It's immaculately clean and maintained. It was so nice to be able to bring our dogs with us! You are super close to Ann Arbor and also Monroe (where we were visiting family). Tracy and Dave are so nice and friendly. Tracy even brought out some trucks, balls, and other toys for our boys... they were thrilled! Can't say enough good things about this rental and owners. Will definitely be staying here for future visits to Michigan!

Belleville is the perfect, unique location only 15 minutes from a big city. Enjoy the quiet, peaceful setting while enjoying a campfire and watching wildlife in their natural habitat. 5 minutes away is the quaint downtown area with enough to keep you busy for the evening, including restaurants, library and small-town stores.

At night you're only minutes away from some of the best nightlife in this area of the state.

15 minutes away is Canton: big box stores and franchises abound along with local treasures. You'll want to check out Sze-Chuan Restaurant and The Bowery Grille & Pub if you're hungry, and Canton is also home to an Ikea.

25 minutes away is Ann Arbor, home to the infamous University of Michigan. Ann Arbor is one of the coolest towns around and a designated Tree City. Their public transportation system is convenient and easy to use. You'll want to explore U of M's campus and the many interesting shops and restaurants that surround it. Hit up Main Street, REI and the Jamaican Jerkpit for starters.

35 minutes away is Detroit. Enjoy nationally-ranked sports teams. The Riverwalk is a MUST SEE if you have time - rent a Segway or a bike and spent hours riding along the waterfront trail and up the Dequindre Cut. You could spend the whole weekend in Detroit visiting all the museums, art institutes and historical places that abound.
