Why Shannon Provence chose Guntersville
This property is a true summer camp (woodsy) type deal. It is close enough to town (10 min), if you want McDonald's but it is in the woods away from it all. The YMCA camp is neighboring. Most homes are summer cottages. If you want to escape. Here it !
What makes this Cabin unique
Serine, in the woods! I provide use of canoe's, paddle boat, and kayaks with property!!! See pics! Somewhat remote but close enough to restaurants. Bat caves, Trails, ancient grave yard, great neighbors, plenty of parking, smooth water.
Quaint home in a beautiful, serene setting
House was cozy for our family of 4 which includes 2 adult children. It’s away from it all with a short drive into town. It’s a great natural setting; you may even see wildlife as you drive up. It was well equipped for our needs and it’s actually bigger than the pictures indicate. We had an absolutely fantastic stay!
Quiet eclectic cabin
We enjoyed our stay here. The house is well equipped and has eclectic decor. Outdoors is a nice dock with a swing, 2 firepits and seating. The scenery here is beautiful. We didn't get to fish, but saw alot of fish jumping. The owners were very accommodating with my reservation.
My reason for only 4 stars is that when we arrived the queen bed wasn't made and the bedding was piled in the floor unwashed. There was a load of towels in the washer (washed but not dried ). I think this was an oversight since the rest of the home was clean. Thankfully i found some clean sheets on a shelf and made the bed myself. The home has a slight odor, which I think was coming from the laundry area.
Also there wasn't a gas grill that we could find, which we had planned on using from the amenities listed. There was a charcoal grill.
Overall this was a nice place to stay and is priced great.
The renter is correct. My cleaning crew was 80% done with cleaning and had an emergency that forced their early departure. This has never happened before and hopefully will not again. I didn’t know of the issue until the renter had already checked in. Please forgive our oversite as it was an anomaly.
The cabin was rustic. Needs some updating. Should let guest know that the drive is a little intimidating your first trip up! Once we got to know the road, then it was OK. Small kitchen. Bed not very comfortable. Provided movies but no instructions on how to get the DVD player to work. DVD remote did not have any batteries. Bathroom is small. Door lock should be changed to an electronic lock.
If you like rustic, then this cabin would work for you.
This is a fantastic property. It is so peaceful to sit on the porch swing & just watch the river go by. We rented a pontoon which provided the opportunity to see much of Lake Guntersville. Shannon provides several canoes & kayaks; we didn't use them only because we had the pontoon. There are two fire pits; it was hot while we were there but we still had a fire every night & watched the stars come out. So...that's the outside. The inside is so much fun it's hard to go outside. It is very eclectic; it is interesting to look at everything. I loved the metal ceilings! It feels homey, the bed was comfortable, the house was clean, we just loved it there. We met the property managers, Paul & Maria and you could not ask to meet a nicer couple. Shannon is a great owner & responds promptly to any questions. There is a washer & dryer; paper towels & toilet tissue are provided as well as all linens. If you plan to swim, bring beach towels. There are many restaurants within driving distance, we preferred to just cook in & take it easy. While I always travel with one, there is a corkscrew but there wasn't wine glasses. We gladly donated two; when you use them, say "Cheers Pete & Diann".
Nice and cozy
This was our 3rd year in a roll staying here. We come every year on our anniversary. The cabin has everything you need and is very well stocked, we really loved the new furniture. We look forward to staying this fall.
