About John Wuesthoff
John and Betty are former Peace Corps Volunteers. He is now a retired attorney maintaining a professional home office in their home and she, a past director of Maine's Refugee Resettlement Program, is his part time secretary and bookkeeper when not caring for 2 grandchildren living across the bay in Falmouth, or attending their soccer games. Periodically John travels to monitor elections being 'seconded' by the U. S. Dept. of State, to former Yugoslavia and the former Soviet Union. They are both active volunteers in an organization dedicated to the historic preservation and protection of the environmental integrity of the Eastern Promenade and long time welcomers of domestic and international visitors.
John Wuesthoff purchased this Apartment in 1999
Why John Wuesthoff chose East End

Great Location and View
This was a lovely apartment located in the heart of Portland. It was extremely quiet and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners live on site and were available to respond to any of our needs (we had none). The unit is part of a charming old home and is in what is clearly a premiere district of Portland.
Great location with beautiful views
Great location. Great owners. Comfortable bed. Well appointed apt. Quiet. Appreciated the updated bathroom with abundant towels and soaps in the shower. Street parking but we never had a problem getting a spot at any time of day/night. Enjoyed walking to coffee shops in the morning.
Cozy & comfortable!
We had a lovely time on our trip to Portland even though the weather could have been nicer-rather rainy. We were so thankful to have our cozy apartment to come back to after a day of sightseeing! It was located on the Eastern Promenade and the view of Casco Bay was spectacular! John was a great host, suggesting places to eat and things to do. He even had bikes and helmets to use if we wanted and lots of brochures and maps in the apartment. We flew into Boston so rented a car and did a couple of day trips-the drive up to Camden was really nice and down to Kennebunkport as well . Both on John’s recommendations-we enjoyed shopping in the old port area and ate some great food!! The day we drove back to Boston was sunny and the drive was beautiful with the leaves starting to turn. Thank you, John, for helping to make our stay in Portland so great!

Great location for a fun stay in Portland
John was a great host, with a very warm welcome and suggestions for navigating the area, as well as good restaurant suggestions. Short walk (about 10 mins) to Old Port and all the action.
Great owner and location
Owner was really great, helped us with our things and gave us tips and ideas. Unit is small, but nice and location was ideal for eating our way though Portland. Would definitely stay there again
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very clean rental. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed, with the added bonus of views of Casco Bay. John provided helpful suggestions for things to do and places to eat, especially several good choices within walking distance. The neighborhood is quiet, and borders a wonderful park along the bay. Overall it was a great home base for our Portland explorations.
