About Rahel Cook

THE OWNERS: In the mid 60’s the Seattle skyline had the Space Needle to the North and The Smith Tower to the South. There was nothing tall in-between the two notable structures. This is when I purchased this property, thinking I would live in the small beach cottage a few years. As time elapsed Seattle was growing, memories were created that could not be made today. My children diving off the old Sea Crest Marina piers, mooring our boat steps from our front door, sailing across Elliot Bay to Seattle, are but a few. Years went by, the memories and stories flourished and I realized I loved the house and area and was destined to stay. The house was so small it needed to grow. The first growth spurt was in the mid 70’s, when the children and the house grew taller. Next came 1980, the year I met my future husband. We complemented each other’s passion for art and creating with space. The spirit of the house and its land generously continued giving us the opportunity to fulfill our visions and dreams, often in the face of local growth obstacles. Today the Marina and boats are gone, the Seattle skyline is magnificent, and the house is beyond recognition of its former self. It welcomes the multitude of changes it observes and the attention it gets.. It deserves to be shared, through it you know the owners. Our home invites you to create your own stories and memories. Enjoy!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Your experience (public)

Just spent a girls' weekend (not nearly enough time) at Alki Beach Harbor House and we're already talking about our next visit. Rahel was an absolute pleasure to deal with and responded to any queries we had almost immediately. The excellent service plus the unique layout of the home, peaceful sitting areas and abundance of art made our stay a wonderful experience. We appreciated having access to bicycles for the weekend and loved taking morning rides alongside Puget Sound. Our only hesitation in booking was location, as we weren't sure that the water taxi service into downtown Seattle would be as easy as advertised...it absolutely was! $5.25 and a 15 minute ride took us very close to Pike Place Market, Safeco Field and anywhere else we needed to be. There is also a Safeway within a 20 minute walk (or 5 minute car-to-go ride) to stock the fridge during your stay. All in all, Alki Beach Harbor House is a wonderful place to stay while in Seattle...I heartily recommend it!

Gorgeous & restful!

  • 5 of 5

Words can’t truly describe the views and the peaceful calm we all experienced at Alki Beach House. Location was beyond perfect - Uber/Lyft and water taxi was all we needed. Comfortable beds, and the very few minor issues we had were quickly addressed with a smile.

Sincerely hope we’ll have occasion to stay here again 😎?🌴?

Artist oasis with a perfect view of the Seattle skyline

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the most unique vacation homes I've ever stayed at. Every wall is decorated with art from different parts of the world. It has several common areas of the house (patios, lounge areas, koi pond, and garden) for your group to socialize and relax in. The house also has huge windows that gives you amazing views of the Seattle skyline. The location is in a quieter area of town, but it's close enough to some of the more lively and hip areas of town too. There are tons of nearby activities (kayaking, bike shares, diving, water taxi to downtown, etc.)

Space wise the house can easily house 6 people while 8 would be stretching it as the two beds downstairs are on the smaller side. The only con I can think of is none of the large windows have curtains which can be hard for light sleepers (or those who want a bit more privacy). I would love to stay here again.

How soon can we get back?

  • 5 of 5

This wonderful home is amazing from the moment you step through the foliage shielding the public sidewalk from the one leading in to paradise. Every space you enter is unique and filled with art. Quite a diverse collection of artifacts from around the world and things like model boats and tiny motors to match! There are many seating areas inside and out, and it's the most relaxing place I've ever stayed. We were a party of 6 and never felt like we were on top of each other. You could always find a quiet corner. The views are even better in real life! It is clean and you can find everything you need easily. The location is perfect for any sight-seeing you want to do with the ferry so close. The lower level was a bit musty.

Truly spectacular home!

  • 5 of 5

This is the most amazing house we have ever had the privilege to stay in. We would give it 10 stars if we could. There is interesting art and artifacts from around the world in evey nook of this house. It was like being allowed to sleep in a museum! Also interesting wall treatments and stained glass throughout. All the layers of art make it a very rich visual experience. At night the neon lights come on which reflect the colors from the stunning view of the Seattle sky line visible throughout the house. The beds and other amenities were very comfortable. And that's just the inside! Exploring outside was just as interesting with multiple patios built into the hillside--each with that beautiful Seattle view. Evey outdoor space was used for some interesting artistic feature--bamboo forrest and water fall, pond with a little footbridge over it, glass, stone, and metal sculptures, even a room with a hammock at the to of the hill! We also enjoyed walking along the waterfront along Alki beach and walked down to Salty's for dinner one night. If we had more time here we would have taken the ferry to Seattle which is just across the street. Truly amazing!!

I appreciated all the different spaces to lounge, share meals and visit. It was nice to have the family together under one roof at a reasonable cost. Thank you!
