About this property

medieval watch tower and pool, near Florence, suitable for remote working

The villa is the oldest building of a medieval small hamlet and dates back to the XIII century, it was originally a watch tower, it has been recently restored keeping its original structure. The rooms are all on the first floor while the ground floor is not inhabited. The wide living room is central and has its original stone floor and fireplace, the 2 windows offer a wonderful view of the valley and from one of them you can see the lovely pool (13x7m). Both the living room and the kitchen open on a large porch ideal for sitting and dining in the open. Two of the bedrooms have double beds and one has 2 single beds, all the rooms have their original wooden beamed ceilings . Both bathrooms are modern and comfortable. A large room, provided with wireless internet and suitable for remote working is located at the ground floor, it is separate from the other rooms of the villa and it has a desk with its comfortable deskchair , a bookshelf and a long bench with pillows , this service is not included in the rental price. The villa has a private, large and fenced garden provided with outside furniture. The pool is located 250m from the villa and is shared with the guests of another holiday house of the medieval hamlet which belongs to the owner's family. In summer, after a day trip to one of the art towns of Tuscany, you will appreciate your return to Torre della Musica where the evenings are always breezy. No need of air conditioning in the house, air conditioning is not provided, but we can provide fans on request ( no extra charge).
In May and October you may need heating, comfortable central heating is included in the rental price only in May and from the 7th of October on.

Owner's profile:
The medieval hamlet was part of a century old farm which belonged to my mother's family. The farm is now run by my nephews, they farm organic and can offer excellent extra virgin oil from our olive groves and excellent wine from their beautiful vineyards. Torre della Musica ( the villa I offer for rent) is one of the 6 houses which make up the medieval hamlet, they belong to me and to my sisters. I spend as much time as I can in a house close to Torre della Musica because the place is green and peaceful and close to Florence even if secluded.

Beautiful home in the hills!
What a lovely home, with beautiful views from every window looking out onto the hills, gardens and olive groves. Adriana warmly greeted us and showed us around the property and kindly suggested places to explore. There were flowers in every room and a bottle of wine to welcome us on arrival. The quiet location, hearing the cicadas at night and being able to see the milky way was very relaxing after days spent visiting medieval hilltop towns, Florence and the beautiful Chianti region. We loved our time at Torre della Musica.

Experience a beautiful Italian Villa!
We arrived at this beautiful Villa to find Adriana our host greeting us with big smiles. Adriana and her family are a local family and when you enter the stunning watchtower you immediately feel at home. The bathrooms modern and the beds comfortable. We picked this place for my sisters birthday and had a magnificent time. Gorgeous fresh flowers filled every room. The place was impeccably maintained. The highlight of the trip was meeting Adriana's 92 year old aunt who ran the families local oil Mill. We had an educating tour with Adriana's sister describing the history and working of the Mill. The Mill has been run by the family for the past 250 years. The family also runs a local winery which Adriana kindly gave us a bottle on arrival. I like good wine and their family wine did not disappoint. A tour to the family vineyard is a must and gives insight into the trial and tribulations of growing wine locally and an education on their vines and grapes. Thomasa and his wife who run the winery are charming and inviting. In all a fantastic experience. So if a piece of genuine Italy away from the crowds with a local family is what you are after then look no further. I forgot to mention the views which are also breathtaking. You will need a car to get there but so worth the meandering up the mountain to enjoy the beautiful views.Enjoy your stay.

Beautiful
Adrianna is a lovely host and the villa is beautiful with amazing views and a very well kitted out kitchen which makes food prep easy. You can drive down to contea Londa and get the train to the centre of Florence (we did it a few times). The pool area is really lovely.

Host profile image
I was born in Florence and grew up in Florence . As a child I spent my summers with my sisters in Londa by our grandparents' villa and in the family farm. In 1964 I was an exchange student in the USA where I got my highschool graduation. I was a researcher in Plant Phiysiology at the University of Florence and retired years ago,. Once retired I decided to rent out Torre della Musica, the house I inherited from my mother. I have a son and a doughter and a very nice grand-daughter

What makes this property unique

The living room of the tower of Music was originally a watchtower ( XIII centutry), it keeps its original mood, infact it has its original stone walls , stone floor and fireplace, the other rooms of the villa were added in the 17th century
