As always a Great Stay
Great location for our group of hunters. The cabin was clean and well-appointed for all of our needs. The proximity to Makokota and the Mighty Mississippi River is a big plus. Steve is a great host and answered all of our questions. Make sure you have a meal or two at Geronimo's.

Long Muddy/gravel drive
Ensure you have AWD or 4WD and good tires. It’s a 10 miles drive on a very muddy/gravel, low maintained road with lots of holes. There were several times my van almost got stuck and I was sliding all over the road. The tree and water fountain were very cute but there were 2 dead mice around the bottom of the tree, inside the cabin. The road/driveway outside of the cabin was pure mud deep mud. Would have appreciated a warning about the drive out to the cabin. Thankfully I got there early cuz I had to call my brother and tell him to take my husband’s truck because I didn’t want his car to get stuck.

Winter getaway
The cabin was clean and cozy! Owner stopped and said hi while he was out pushing snow. We are hoping to get back during the warmer months to hit the trails! Thanks for a great weekend!

Perfect weekend getaway
We had a great little family getaway. This house was the perfect retreat. Plenty of space, clean, and provided so much that we didn’t have to leave to get anything during our 2 night stay. Great host, he was very friendly and informative. Nothing but positive feedback for this stay!

Was probably nice 10 years ago
Although our host, Steve, was very kind and responsive, I feel like I need to leave a honest review for future travelers. Arrive before dark - the town itself is very remote area with dirt roads and no lights. To get to the cabin there are a few steep inclines and sharp bends- making it a little scary with snow on the road. We ended up leaving one of the cars at the entrance because we were afraid it wouldn’t make it with rear wheel drive. The cabin was fairly clean but very dated. I was expecting higher end for the amount we were charged. In addition, We had a surprise charge through evolve since VRBO didn’t add in the pet fee even though I checked a pet was coming. Speaking of, I’m soooo glad we brought our German Shepard. I wouldn’t have felt very safe otherwise. There are no bolt locks on the door and one good shove of the shoulder would get the door open. We tested it. There was an old musty rotting smell coming from the tree area. Luckily, we found a scented candle and kept that lit to mask the odor. Ask for the Wi-Fi password before your arrival because cell service does not work inside the cabin. Do NOT let anyone flush the upstairs toilet or use any faucets while taking a shower. The water completely disappears from lack of pressure and takes a few minutes to return to a trickle. The beds were hard or you can feel the springs. There was no shovel for the snow, making the walk way quite slippery since it’s on an incline. Kitchen utensils are available but extremely warn. The kitchen itself had 30 year old appliances. Oh, and there is NO hair dryer! We did enjoy our time as a family playing games and hiking in the woods. Steve did stop in the morning we were leaving to check on us. It sounded like he was planning on doing some update so hopefully all of the above will improve.
