We landed in Belize in 1973 while vacationing. We fell in love with Placencia and the rest is history.
Lou Nicolait purchased this house in 1973
This location is the best in the village. Close to all the action, but as private as you want to make it.
Wrap around veranda, 200 feet of beach front, light and airy.
Our two weeks at this special beach house were beyond our every expectation! From the moment we were greeted by Joslin and she introduced us to all the fantastic amenities of the house and grounds, we knew we had found paradise. The house was just as described. We enjoyed the open house concept, the ocean breezes, and the expansive veranda was our favorite place to start the day watching the sunrise while having coffee; and we spent many evening hours watching sunsets and the beautiful Belizean night sky. Joslin was very kind and helpful whenever and if we needed anything. Epi brought us fresh coconut water. He keeps the property in immaculate condition. We love Placencia Village. Favorite resturants-Rick'Cafe, Secret Garden, RumFish and Wendy's. And of course Trutti Fruitti. After great days with Go Sea Tours (Silk Caye , Laughing Bird Caye & Monkey River tour), DTourz (Cockscomb Jaguar Preserve tour), Trip N Travel (Xunantunich Mayan Ruins tour), the best part was to come back to our surreal piece of paradise. The only way this experience could have been better was if we had stayed longer. And next time we definitely will. Thank you Lou and Joshlin for sharing and being the best hosts.
I don’t think I can add any additional info about this place that’s hasn’t already been expressed. Placencia Beach house is a slice of paradise. If you want to escape your busy life, this is the place to do it. The house is beautiful. The town is quaint and the people of Placencia are warm and welcoming. And as stated previously Lou, Joshlin and Epi are perfect hosts. My family and I enjoyed every second of our stay. Hopefully we will be back one day.
This is a well-situated home, and perfect if you are looking for a quiet stay in close proximity to the action of Placencia. The home is well-designed in terms of bot airflow and layout. One of the best we’ve ever stayed in. And the fresh coconut water was an unexpected plus. Thanks, Lou!
The Placencia Beach house far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we booked, Lou and Joshlyn we’re more than helpful with recommendations on how to get to the beach house from Belize city.
The beach house itself was simply amazing. The location was perfect; just on the north end of the Placencia sidewalk, simple five minute walk to the most hustle bustle little restaurants, The richness of the culture, and a 15 minute walk to the very end of the pier. It’s steps from the ocean, and I believe it has the most beautiful beach front property in all of Placencia. It was so private, we re it was so private, we rarely saw any passerby‘s . Epi does a fantastic job keeping up the property, and he was so helpful Giving suggestions or recommendations, and supplying us with all the coconut water we could ever need.
The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need. From coffee maker, blender, citrus juicer, garlic press, spices, travel coffee cups, travel water cups, And even fab and even fabric grocery bags to use for your shopping.
The outside living space and deck is expensive, with three Hammocks to use, multiple tables, and you must play a couple games of rummykuub before you go!! There is laundry below, and a kayak to use even. The house has multiple sleeping areas, all with partitions creating privacy yet allowing the ocean breeze to circulate through the house. We were never too hot nor too cool. The beds and pillows were all very comfortable. Lou has literally thought of it all. Being a long time resident of the area, she has amazing stories and information to share If and when you ask.
The property It’s self must be the nicest ocean front property in the whole village. The swimming out front is fantastic.
I would come back to the beach house in a heartbeat. Placencia was our favorite stop in Belize, and the Beach house our favorite rental by far in all of the Caribbean stays.
This place was amazing. Josh, Lou and Epi were around if you needed them but not intrusive at all. We spent most of the time on the beautiful beach, but the short walk down the sidewalk was nice and brought us to rick’s (great Greek pizza) or the barefoot beach bar (exactly like it sounds). The grocery store is at the end of the driveway for everything else. The house is well-appointed and has everything you need to cook a meal or have a picnic on the beach. I can’t recommend this place enough. When Josh offers you fresh coconut water TAKE IT. you won’t be sorry.
Our second stay at the Placencia Beach House was as wonderful as our stay last year. 2 weeks of perfect weather on a spectacular beach. The house is extra clean and well taken care of. Josh, who manages the rental, is most accommodating very knowledgeable about Placencia Village and the peninsula. We like privacy and quiet. The Beach House is the spot.
As for Placencia Village, there is not a lot of shopping but lots of options for all meals. Favorites include Omars, Rick's Café, La Dolce Vita & Mayan Bistro. Placencia Village and the Placencia Beach House is a perfect spot for a quiet, private holiday.
The wonderful thing about Placencia Village is you can be as high tech or laid-back as you want. There are computer repair services and internet connections or tranquil freedom from all the technology devices.
Placencia Beach House is located at the north end of the sidewalk, the world's narrowest road, in Placencia Village, within walking distance of all the restaurants, bars, and gift shops. The North end is quiet and private, but near the action. You can party all you want without a designated driver, or lie quietly in your hammock in complete privacy. The friendly villagers speak English and are always ready to lend a helping hand. Fitness training and yoga classes, as well as, spa services are available. You can explore the village on a bicycle or ride up the peninsula for lunch at Seine Bight or Maya Beach.
There are several full-service dive shops that cater to both the beginner and experienced diver. Instruction is available for certification at all levels.
Some choose to simply enjoy the snorkeling. The dozens of offshore cayes (pronounced keys) each have fringed reefs and the Belize Barrier Reef, 18 miles from Placencia, is second to none. Many of the wonders in tropical waters are only one foot below the surface.
Some claim that Placencia offers the world's best fly fishing. The fishing guides were born in Placencia and learned secrets from their fathers that have been passed down for generations. Besides catching bonefish, permit and tarpon, you can troll for kingfish and barracuda, or catch your own bait and simply hang out at the cayes with a drop line.
About 30 miles from Placencia, off the southern highway, is the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Reserve, the world's first reserve established to protect this endangered species. Don't expect to see a jaguar. but you can go river tubing, hike to the waterfalls at the top of Tiger Fern trail, or climb Victoria Peak, the highest peak in the Cockscomb!
A little further to the north on the Southern Highway, you can visit Mayflower Archaeological Reserve and hike to Antelope Falls or Bocawina Falls, or arrange with Bocawina Adventure Tours to go zip-lining through the canopy forest or repelling down the water falls.
To the south, on the Southern Highway, you can visit the archaeological ruins of Nimli Punit and Lubaantun. During the same day, you can take in the massive cave at Blue Creek Village where Maya artifacts were found by modern archaeologists.
