Overview

About the property

4 bedroom, 5 bath luxury vacation home in the heart of Oregon wine country.

The Lions Gate is a stunning craftsman style mansion that captures classic elegance and modern magnificence under one historic roof. Built in 1911 and formerly known as The Maggie Littlefield Historic House, it was exquisitely restored to maintain its structural integrity while showcasing the local contemporary artistry of tile, woodworking and design. “Stunningly beautiful, yet comfortable,” “elegant and welcoming,” “warm and sophisticated” are words frequently used by guests to describe the interior of The Lions Gate. It is rare to have such a splendid historic home available to share with others in an engaging and personal environment. Each of our spacious and elegant suites has its own private bath. Three of the suites have gas fireplaces and all come with a sitting area or comfortable reading chair. Amenities include: shampoo/conditioner, soap, hairdryers, ironing board, luxurious towels and linens. The covered outdoor living space and large grass courtyard provide an ideal environment for relaxation.

Lions Gate is a perfect place for large families or to bring extended families and friends together in one warm inviting space to spend time together, enjoying each others company and exploring more of what the Willamette Valley and surrounding areas have to offer. You will have full access and use of the large, gourmet kitchen and entire two main floors of the house. Enjoy relaxing by the fireplace, reminiscing about times together and making new memories. Play board games or watch Football in the parlor. Take full advantage of the large formal dining room to gather as friends and family and enjoy the bounty of the Willamette Valley. Lions Gate is the perfect place to call home while exploring the 100 plus area wineries. But if day long exploration is your pleasure visitors will find adventure at the Oregon Coast, Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood a short hour and a half scenic drive away.

After a day of wine tasting and country side adventure guests can take a short walk to one of Oregon’s top restaurants, The Painted Lady, Recipe, Subterra and new in town, Ruddick Wood. For those really wanting a feel for area and a sense of place, Historic Downtown Newberg is becoming an art centric community with The Chehalem Cultural Center in its hub, a lively First Friday Art Walk, and Art Elements Gallery.

Perfect place for our group!

  • 5 of 5

This is our first time to visit Oregon wine country. With 4 couples this house was perfect. We each had our own master suite. We used both the front porch & the back patio to enjoy our meals. We loved the huge living room area with fireplace for our evening wine & games!

Nice renovation but bad mattresses

  • 4 of 5

The property overall was nice and the owners did a great job on the renovation. My only complaint (and the people traveling with us) was the mattresses, they were completely worn out and need replaced.

Perfect Oregon eclipse trip getaway

  • 5 of 5

This house was absolutely perfect for our family reunion/eclipse watching trip in August. We had a group of 13 there for the weekend, with 8 of us actually staying in the house. The rooms are so well appointed--great bathrooms, gourmet kitchen, lovely gathering spaces. We hosted a steak dinner for 12 in the dining room, a catered dinner for 14 in the garden, and cooked breakfast for the whole gang every day. Location was ideal for jumping on Hwy 99 and getting to the wineries for tastings in the afternoons, and we were able to walk to Ruddick-Wood for dinner the last night. Our host was very helpful and responsive to our questions and needs.

George Fox graduation

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for our out of town family to stay at for our twin daughters graduation from George Fox University. Our family loved the house and it proved to be a wonderful meeting place for us all to get together and visit. We would highly recommend this property for any large get togethers.
