About this property

Historic Manor House Overlooking Killarney Lakes

Carriglea House is a ‘historic house’ and is one of the jewels in the crown of Killarney accommodation. Its location alone is unrivalled, sitting on a slight rise overlooking the lakes and mountains, in a peaceful countryside setting but still within walking distance to Killarney town and across the street from the entrance to The National Park. There are pubs and restaurants and a supermarket within a few minutes walk, along a promenade. The house itself like the setting is totally unique, it has kept its old world charm but with modern conveniences discreetly included. This period house has an interesting history mirroring the history of Ireland from the landlord era to the present day.
The rooms are all large with the drawing room and dining room featuring some wonderful antique furniture and large bay windows with lake views. The bedrooms have their own private bathroom. The kitchen is modernly equipped with the addition of an AGA stove which will be the one piece of equipment you will long to take home with you. The kitchen larder which s an old confession box adds to the charm. There is a laundry room with large washer and large dryer in the house.
The grounds are large with huge lawns and mature gardens with some very interesting features, including a pond and it's natural water fountain. The entrance to the National Park is just across the street, which allows your group to pursue different interests, maybe it’s a jog or a romantic lakeside stroll or visiting an old abbey, its all there on your doorstep.
We also have a self-catering courtyard cottage available on the property.

Completely at Home in a Beautiful Home
From the moment we walked into Carriglea House, we felt completely at home. Elegant and comfortable, with gorgeous views of Killarney National Park directly across the road, and an easy walk to pubs and shops in town, this house was everything we dreamed it would be for ourselves and all our guests. We spent hours talking in the sitting room, enjoying ourselves around the table with beautiful dinners prepared by local catering company and cooking school, Just Cooking, and walking the trails of the park to explore the stunning lake along with Muckross Abbey and Muckross House. Our hosts, Eileen and John, were delightful and helpful in every way we needed, and made us feel the house was ours while we were in it. We loved using the AGA (something I've always wanted to have in my own home!) and the professional dishwasher that leaves dishes spotless in 2 1/2 minutes! We absolutely loved our week there and have already made reservations for next year. Looking forward to coming back for many years to come!

Family Gathering
Carriglea House was a perfect choice for my wife and myself, our daughter, her five adult children and several spouses. We were eleven total, and we could have comfortably housed a few more. The rooms were large and comfortable with many bathrooms. The washer and clothes dryer also came in very handy. The view was perfect, including the three donkeys my grandaughter fed carrots and apples to every day. We loved the central location of the house just outside the town of Killarney with all it's tourist sites, restaurants and pubs. We spent a day exploring the area around the lakes, including a wonderful small boat tour across all three lakes. The house is also right on the Ring of Kerry and very close to The Dingle Peninsula and many other sites. I'm certain every member of our group would gladly stay there again.

Amazing property
Just returned from 12 day stay with 12 family members 6 adults 3 teens and 3 kids . Wonderful to spread out over 7 bedrooms with each group having their own ensuite bathroom ! This house is so homey and comfortable! Lots of parking and with two additional cottages on site you could host a huge family tenuous here ! The furnishings took you back in time to an elegant era. Kitchen and bathrooms are modern and there’s a huge fridge and washer and dryer . Eileen our host is a lovely person with great suggestions ! Her husband John came to our rescue when our attempt at a fry up set off the smoke alarm! Wonderful location minutes from town but peaceful and beautiful! A vacation we will cherish !

Carriglea House was built in 1860. It first opened its doors to guests in the summer of 1932 and a tradition started that has continued uninterrupted to the present day spanning 4 generations of the Beazley family. Carriglea offers guests house rental for a limited number of weeks each year. As on site owners we can offer you a personalised service with help and advise always at hand.

John, Eileen Beazley and family are your hosts. John grew up at Carriglea and along with running the farm has been welcoming guests to his home all his life. Eileen is also a Killarney native, a nurse and midwife, she loves cooking and a good chat. We all love the house and farm at Carriglea and its surroundings and like nothing better than seeing people enjoy it like we do. We are here to help you with your holiday so you can relax in our truly sublime setting.

Why they chose this property

Carriglea house is an unique 19th century Victorian manor house ideally located overlooking the Killarney lakes and adjoining the Killarney National Park. It has 30 acres of private grounds and mature gardens. It has an unrivalled and enviable location only minutes from Killarney town but still in the country, all of the amenities are on your doorstep, enjoy a lakeside run, walk or cycle at any time for free as the National Park is just across the street. Wake up each morning and gaze out the window at Lough Leane, the wonderful grounds at Carriglea, from the wild rabbits playing in the lawn to to the lakes and mountain backdrop, take a stroll down our tree lined avenue through the farm and see our cows and calves grazing contently near a mystical fairy fort, meet our donkey ‘Paddy’ and our rescue pony ‘Beauty‘, eat some freshly laid eggs for breakfast from our chickens and if you have a few minutes to spare during the day just cross the street to the boathouse and enjoy postcard scenery and on the hot days take a dip in the lake.

What makes this property unique

Carriglea House and its surrounds is considered to be one of the most beautiful properties in Killarney. Its unique location offers guests the opportunity to stay in close proximity to Killarney town and yet in the heart of the National Park, with direct access to the Lakes and trails. However, as it is an historic house it may not be suitable for large number of young children.
