About The Owner

My wife and I live in Twin Falls, Idaho. We raised our family and are both retired from our careers, but our time still slips away from us. So we choose to share our paradise in Island Park, Idaho with you, our guests. We built our cabin in 2004 and subsequently built 2 others in Island Park, but this cabin is our favorite. I can literally sit on the front deck of the cabin with a beverage, listen to the birds and watch the water and antelope all day.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004

Why The Owner chose Island Park

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am that you choose Island Park, Idaho as your vacation destination. My wife and I have been enjoying the beauty of this area for years. We started looking for a place to build our vacation home in 2002. After searching numerous areas we decided on Island Park. It then took us a year and a half to choose the perfect lot, we were looking for an area nestled in the trees, but one look at our lot with 360 degree views of vistas and we were sold. Our cabin sits in a gated community called Centennial Shores, we are privileged to have unmarred views of numerous mountain ranges, the beautiful reservoir and have privacy and seclusion away from all the hustle and bustle. The recreation possibilities out our back door are endless. We have enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling and wildlife viewing for years in what we consider our paradise.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin offers so much to our guests that it is our pledge that you will not be disappointed in your destination if you come to our little slice of heaven. I urge you to spend some time in my favorite part of the cabin, the loft. Let time stand still while you look out the back at the amazing views of the Jefferson Mountain Range and with merely turning around you will be gazing out the front over the serene view of the Island Park Reservoir.

Jeff and Lynne have chosen Moose Crossing Vacation Rentals to manage their cabin and ensure the happiness of their guests. Shawna and Rhonda are a small property management company and we take great pride in our rental cabins. We strive to make sure that the cabin is clean and comfortable for all of our guests. We appreciate you choosing our cabin for your vacation memories and hope that you arrive at a vacation cabin, but by the time you leave it feels like home.

Beautiful cabin style home with lake and mountain views

  • 4 of 5

Our extended family of eight stayed ten days in this lovely home. Although the weather didn't cooperate a good bit of the time, we still were able to get out and enjoy the great outdoors that are within driving distance. We were a little disappointed since we were under the impression that the listing stated we would only be 20 minutes from the West Yellowstone National Park entrance and it was more like 50 minutes. We also recommend going to Rexford to the Walmart grocery, if you are going to be purchasing many items to prepare. Stop on the way if you are coming from Idaho Falls. Groceries in the immediate area are small, selection is limited and prices are high. The home itself was nicely furnished and had a great stock of miscellaneous items that we did not expect. We are sure that everyone has their personal preferences about this that and something else, but overall this is a nice property. Be aware that the house is lake view not lake front and there are several other homes nearby. Also be aware that you drive on a couple miles of gravel roads to reach the home. There are some notes posted in the house about procedures to handle problems, checkout etc. Some of the check out instructions were confusing when you check your contract versus the notes and the information in a property manual left for renters. We did call the owner and property manager about an issue we thought they should be aware of and never received a response. (left voicemail) We did have the pleasure of watching several pronghorn deer in the fields nearby along with three fawns. We also watched the funny prairie dogs all around. We own a condo that we rent out and know the issues in trying to keep a property maintained and trying to please everyone. We were very pleased with our selection of this property and would highly recommend it. Thanks for sharing this lovely home with our family.

Owner's Response: Robert, First, we are so happy that you and your family were able to experience much of what the area has to offer and that you enjoyed your time at the cabin and in the area. Next, thank you for your feedback on your stay at Hangin' Bear Retreat (previously Scott’s Lakeview Cabin), including the time you took to reach out to our property manager regarding the issues you wanted to make us aware of and the need to have checkout directions clarified and consistent. The current description states that the cabin is 34 miles on Highway 20 to the West Yellowstone gate. However, as you noted, this information is leading to some confusion. And often, it may take 50 minutes depending on weather and traffic. We find that Hangin’ Bear is a great starting point for many day excursions, including those into Yellowstone National Park. When we visit the area, we use two markers to let us know that we are close to pure relaxation. The first is when we look over and see the Teton Mountains and the second is when we move onto that gravel road. We will clarify that the last 3.1 miles include a gravel road as you wind through the Old Shotgun Road area to the main entrance of Centennial Shores (and another 1.3 miles to the cabin once through the main entrance). This part of the drive often offers a view of some of the other animals around such as the local moose or horses out for a stroll. Safe journey, Andrea and Brian

Great family vacation home.

The property was well stocked and maintained. I would recommend bringing a small boat for the lake. Loved how quiet and peaceful it was. You can reconnect with your family.

Wonderful Cabin for the family

  • 4 of 5

We really liked the cabin. It worked great for our family to spend time together and have fun. Love the family gathering areas. The only complaint is we wanted to spend time in Yellowstone, but it took 50 minutes just to get to the gate. I had the impression the cabin was closer.

The cabin was very well maintained and the views were great.

  • 5 of 5

We were had a great time staying in Island Park during our visit to Yellowstone. The cabin had everything you could possibly need. All we needed were a few groceries. The cabin was very clean and well kept. We would certainly stay there again if our travels take us out that way again. Thanks again.

This was our first time renting through VRBO. It was a great experience. The cabin was everything we imagined it would be. Owners were very helpful when we had last minute questions.
