Spacious home on a beautiful, quiet lake!

  • 5 of 5

Great time was had by all fishing, relaxing, star gazing, going for boat rides, floating in this clear hard sand bottom lake and playing games at the big kitchen table. We also enjoyed some trails at Scenic State Park. Great for all of us to slow down and just be!

Great location, excellent accommodations, friendly help

  • 5 of 5

Our trip up to Turtle Lake was wonderful. The house is comfortable with all the modern amenities you need, but still has that rustic charm you want on an "up north" getaway. Traveling with several children between the ages of 6 months and 14, there was plenty of space, more than enough bedrooms, and between fishing and swimming kept them occupied and happy. Tim, the caretaker and brother of the owner, is incredibly friendly and helpful. We're already thinking about planning another trip! Highly recommended.

beautiful, spacious lake home

  • 4 of 5

This home is huge, with a fully furnished upper and lower level. There are 2 bedrooms with king beds on the main floor and 2 more bedrooms downstairs. There are also several pull out couches, so I think we counted that 13 people could actually sleep here! I recommend sleeping in the lower level. if you like it cool. We loved having 3 bathrooms, too.The kitchen is beautiful, and spacious with very nice pots and pans, crockpots and utensils. The family loved gathering around the large dining room table for our meals. Be prepared to separate your trash, it is a country home and they like to burn, recycle and compost to help the environment. It is advertised as pet friendly, but the owner did request us to keep our dog on the lower level, which actually was fine. We could catch rock bass from the dock, which was really fun. We spent every afternoon, swimming and hanging out by the lake. The lake bottom was sandy, not weedy or rocky and great for our grandson to swim. Fishing was OK, but it also was record high temperatures for Memorial Weekend. Brian and Tim, the owners, were really friendly and accommodating. The only reason I did not give this property 5 stats is the mosquitos! Of course, we had rare, extremely hot temperatures and the first rains of the spring, so they were hatching like mad. I suggest you bring outdoor foggers or yard guard and spray around the doors outside. The mosquitoes hang around the door areas, waiting to come in. Do not leave any outside lights on, and beware, they will even come in thru the screen windows. The 4 season porch has air conditioning, and a nice size table with 8 chairs and we enjoyed playing games out there. Grandmas favorite thing was the abundance of rocker recliners where she could read in comfort. She also liked the DISH TV. I also recommend renting the pontoon. The lake is beautiful so plan on spending lots of time on it!

Owner's Response: Thank so much for your kind review, we appreciate your business!!! I would like to clarify a few points regarding your review. Yes - we do re-cycle plastics, bottles, cans, and paper. WE DO NOT BURN PAPER ON THE PROPERTY. Each trash can is labeled to assist our guests. All refuse is taken to the local landfill. We use a compost for food scraps so that they do not end up in the garage. If guests put spoiling food scraps in the garbage cans that are located in the garage, they will attract unwanted animals and flies looking for a snack in the garage. Therefore, to prevent skunk's, bears, and flies from entering the garage, we provide them a snack compost away from the house. Can you imagine the flies that would get into the house when someone in your party leaves the house entrance door ajar. Your party signed a rental agreement that clearly advises guests how to keep bugs out of the house. Every party needs to appoint a door police guy, someone who will manage the doors and walk behind others who leave them ajar. DO NOT invite mosquitos into the house by leaving the doors ajar. Mosquitos cannot pass through the screens on the windows, but if you leave the flood lights on and the widows open under the lights at night while you are fishing, no-see-ums sometimes pass through the screens. This was all spelled out for you in bold letters in your contract. Your party was again reminded at check-in to keep the doors and screen doors latched and closed. We also advise guests in writing in the rental agreement how to keep the house cool doing hot days. The agreement clearly advises guests to keep the windows and curtains closed on hot days. The three season porch is equipped with a very powerful air conditioner. Guests at check-in are advised to slide the glass door open to the dining room and use the fan provided to blow nice cool air into the upstairs home if needed. You must keep the windows closed in the basement to keep in the natural cool air.

spacious well appointed home on lake

  • 5 of 5

The home was so roomy for 2 families - very comfortable, well-maintained, gorgeous location with backside on the lake and front on a large, tree-lined yard for lawn games. We will definitely come back.

Beautiful location ~ Excellent host!

  • 5 of 5

We met up with family at this lovely, secluded location for a very enjoyable vacation. The well appointed kitchen was perfect for preparing large meals to enjoy with the group who gathered for fun at the lake. Roasting marshmallows at the lakeside fire pit was fun for all. I will certainly return as soon as possible (and bring along our grandkids). As Montanans, we are not used to fishing from a boat, so it was a change for our family! The fishing was excellent and the pontoon was fun! Love the canopy of trees as you enter into this well taken care of home. Thanks Brian and Tim!

It is satisfying to know that folks from the BIG SKY COUNTRY OF MONTANA, where recreational resources are bountiful, really enjoyed the MINNESOTA LAND OF 10,000 LAKES - GREAT OUTDOORS. Thank you again we really enjoyed having your group, please come again!!! We certainly appreciate your business!!!

Great family place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful week at this home. Large and spacious as described..which isn't always the case. The owners bent over backwards via text ahead of time to make sure we had everything we needed. It was helpful to know that cell phone coverage was poor ahead of time...but we loved truly being able to get away from it all. The grocery store in Marcell was only 3 miles away and the larger store in Big Fork was only 11 miles away...close enough that the ice cream didn't melt! We had our young grandchildren stay in the lower level with their folks....and never heard them when they were up during the night. It was easy to have people on different sleep schedules! Loved having access to the pontoon...and the swimming was good. Our three year old grandson caught his first fish off the dock with his grandpa - a great memory for both of them. Thanks for a wonderful week!

Owner's Response: A big thank you goes out to the " B.L." Family for taking such great care of the home and pontoon boat! Grandpa and grandson catching fish off the dock - I don't think it gets much better than that, especially when it is the grandson's first fish - AWESOME!!!. One of my property photos on VRBO shows a little guy catching his first fish! I would love to have the B.L. family back - I always invite those families back who take care of the Turtle Lake property as if it were their grandma's house. Perhaps you can make it back for the autumn color tour or the winter snowmobile tour. Once again we thank you for your business!!!
