Secluded Mountain Ranch, Serene, Peaceful, Beautiful & ONLY 15 minutes to Cd'A!
About Michael Dickson
Elk Mountain Ranch has been in our family for over 40 years. My Dad was a German Artistic Stone Mason as is evident at the ranch. Our family immensely enjoyed and loved living at the ranch. We enjoyed foreign guests who came and stayed at the ranch, and it was such a wonderful experience, we decided to officially offer the home as a Vacation Rental. My parents lived there into their late 80's, as it was such a healthy environment. The ranch is now a wildlife reserve and timber farm. We live a short distance away which is convenient for care-taking the home and property. When you stay there, you have the home all to yourself!
Michael Dickson purchased this Chateau / Country House in 1970
Why Michael Dickson chose Coeur d'Alene
Elk Mountain Ranch is one of the most unique and beautiful properties in the Northwest. We found it amazing to feel so remote, secluded and peaceful and yet we could commute into Coeur d'Alene in 15 minutes for Shopping, Groceries, Restaurants, Church, Social Activities, Art Shops, the City Beach, or Silverwood Theme Park. In the photo we are tubing on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River which is just 25 minutes east, via Interstate 90.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
At Elk Mountain Ranch you can imagine it is 1906 and experience the peace and observe the wildlife just like the first pioneers did! ....If you'd rather golf at the World's only floating green, that is only 15 minutes away!....If you'd like a 'Cowboy steak' that is so huge you can't eat it all, that is 10 minutes away at the famous Wolf Lodge Inn & Steakhouse!

We loved spending Thanksgiving at Elk Mountain Ranch! The house is huge and the area is beautiful and peaceful! My grandkids loved feeding the trout each morning and taking walks on the property! We also had fun with the dress up closet! We can’t wait to come back next year and see the place in the spring!
Best VRBO ever
We had a friends giving here and this place was more than we could have dreamed of. One special thing not listed- the closet full of dress up cloths for kids (but also tons sized for adults!) needless to say our friend family photo by the fire place was top notch. Thank you so much for the amazing stay we can’t wait to be back!!
Beautiful as the Photos!
Our family cannot express how lovely and wonderful our stay was at this amazing mountain home. It's history and setting is as good as it gets. It's quiet and relaxing and has everything you need to make your stay a memorable one! Susan and Mike are awesome owners and were easy to work with and communicate with. We are so thankful and grateful to have chosen their property to stay for our trip!
More then the comforts of home!
The family get together was wonderful. Enough private bedrooms for everyone, this home is decorated warm, inviting and interesting. The grounds are magical. Mike and Susan work hard to make the ranch a place we all want to come back to!
