Bright, Clean 4+BR/3.5BA Mountain Home Is Perfect For Families And Large Groups
About Stefanie Lawhorn
From the Owner: We used to come to the Kenai Peninsula from our home north of Anchorage and rent other vacation homes, but we loved our experiences down here so much that we finally decided to buy our own vacation chalet. After many years of having just our family and friends stay, we've decided to open it up to you and your family so that you can love and know Cooper Landing and the Kenai Peninsula as much as we do. It's our place to escape from the hustle and bustle of our careers and life in the city. We love fishing, hiking, and wildlife viewing. We are Alaskans through and through. From the manager: We manage only a few homes so we can give them each a personal touch and the attention they and their guests deserve. We would love to host you!

Why Stefanie Lawhorn chose Cooper Landing
From the owner: This home was built by an owner-builder who took care to make it warm, lovely, high-quality and welcoming. When he decided to sell, we were happy to call it our own. The large windows, gorgeous mountains, expansive lawn, encircling forest, nearby creek, and flexible floor plan have been a dream come true. We have wonderful family memories here, in the peace and quiet, in a beautiful town the local chamber calls 'The Gem of the Kenai Peninsula - an Emerald in the Summer, a Diamond in the Winter'. Cooper Landing is truly one of the most beautiful locations in Alaska, with the stunning turquoise Kenai River running through, the National Forest nestling up to the majestic mountains. You should learn to call this place 'home', too! From the manager: Offering this home to you is very exciting because it feels such a needed niche in the Cooper Landing vacation rental market - it is so spacious and flexible in its sleeping and living arrangements, easily accommodating families and large groups. It's a high-quality home with a warm feel, perfect for a relaxing vacation.
What makes this Chalet unique
We were immediately impressed with the large fire pit in the spacious yard - it has been the site of incredible gatherings of family and friends. The whole house feels open and warm, convenient but out of the way. We keep binoculars in the living room for spotting wildlife on the surrounding mountains. We enjoy lazy evenings on the deck listening to the creek go by. We can have guests and have as much privacy or togetherness as we need in the 3000 square feet of space, with plenty of place to sleep, bathe, gather, and even cook and eat.
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Perfect Alaska location and home!
This home was everything promised and more. Perfect for 2 families with 4 preteens/teens among us. Plenty of living space and a great yard for games. The home had everything we needed and cooper landing was a great centerpoint to so many outdoor activities. Stefanie took care of recommending many of our activities and booking them for us which made things so convenient. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
The home is lovely and the location is great, for fishing and hiking.
There is a firepit outside that we all enjoyed, for hotdog and s’mores night.
The deck was just wonderful for early morning coffee.
The view is gorgeous and peaceful, but it is not wide open views of mountains.
The kitchen had everything we needed, except a coffee grinder.
There were 9 of us and hot water was always plentiful.
Few homes in Alaska have AC, so afternoons and evenings were very hot in the upstairs bedrooms. There are ceiling fans, but they were just not enough. We believe ceiling fans in the vaulted den, would have helped a lot for the upstairs.
We are a family of clean freaks, we warned in advance:)
The home was Not dirty, but did need some deeper cleaning that we would address. The only real complaint we had, was all the towels had a terrible soured smell. They were mostly colored, so we were afraid to use bleach. Our one recommendation was all towels be replaced with white, so they can be bleached.
Even with this, we gave the house a 4 rating.
Outstanding property for large families
Home is like new, spotless, and spacious. Stefanie is a pleasure to work with. Very helpful in all regards
Cooper Landing, AK
WOW what a beautiful home and property. We made a family trip with 6 adults and 4 children 17, 13 and twin 2's. The house was perfect and everyone had their own space. Still had a great gathering space for meals and the deck was wonderful. Stefani was great at checking in and followed up on any request we had. Would book again.
Excellent house for large group
Despite the heat wave and dreadful smoke from the local wildfires we were able to make this a lovely temporary home for 3 families. We were exceptionally grateful for the cool downstairs apartment which allowed us to put a bunch of very hot children someplace where they could eat, stretch out and eventually sleep. The kitchen was well furbished, the house was quite clean, and all of the appliances worked without a hitch. the owner was VERY responsive and helpful, and I am sure that the local scenery is gorgeous under different situations. We were glad we had done our grocery shopping before we came down but found the local (very) small grocery and liquor store enough to keep us going for odds and ends.
I have only two suggestions. First - the owner sent me a really helpful letter outlining fun things to do in the area. Unfortunately I did not receive this until we were in the midst of the trip. I would would have loved to have gotten it earlier as it really was full of great idea. Lastly, the only other thing was the beds - the frames are very noisy (when you sit down or roll over) taking a couple nights to get used to. I don't know if this is something that can be fixed but it was the only thing that was "wrong" with the house.
I would recommend this house to anyone traveling in the area.
Wonderful, hope to return.
