About Lisa Mackey

My wife and I have lived in Alberta our entire lives and have always enjoyed vacationing in Radium Hot Springs. We love to golf and ski, as do our children, so choosing a property in Radium was an easy decision!

Lisa Mackey purchased this villa in 2010

Why Lisa Mackey chose British Columbia

We fell in love with the views of Borrego Ridge and once we saw the plans for the property we knew it was the place for us, our children and grandchildren!

What makes this villa unique

The location of Borrego Ridge is ideal for my family to enjoy the beauty of British Columbia - the area has outstanding recreational opportunities like golf, skiing, hiking and rafting. Plus, there is a fantastic restaurant down the road that we love!! We have spent many evenings at Helna Stube's!

Location: Radium Hot Springs, Lake Windermere, British Columbia Rockies, British Columbia, Canada, 1.5 hours from Banff, 3 hours from Calgary, AB Canada.

Very beautiful home with an amazing view!

  • 5 of 5

This home was a great place for our family of 4 to stay while we were exploring Banff. It's a beautiful home with all the amenities in place for a wonderful visit. Thank you for thinking of all the little touches as well. Beautiful sunrise and sunset from the patio! We would stay again.

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here 24th 25th 26th of December 2016 and had a wonderful time. As my 3 year old grand daughter says when asked what did you like most about christmas at the winter house and she says playing the card game her and gramma played (poker on the card table lol) So thank you very much it was everything we needed.

Overall good stay

  • 4 of 5

Second time staying at this property. Has a lot of really great features like a wine fridge, poker table and gas stove. Few things need to fixed like the microwave which majority of the buttons don't work, fridge has a ice maker and water filter (either it's not connected or it doesn't work). Bbq lighter doesn't work - providing guests with a long bbq lighter would be a little safer than using a paper towel to light propane. Upon arrival we had no wifi and had to search for the modem to connect it to power.

Other than those few things we had a great stay!

Thanks for providing us for a place to getaway!

Dunblane, Scotland

Beautiful property: high spec and spotless.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 2 weeks on our first trip to Canada from Scotland. We wanted a good base for exploring the Rockies, but with space to chill out and have some family time. I'd considered Banff and Canmore, but for our budget the accommodation there was much more cramped and basic, so we opted for a little more driving but relaxing space to unwind - and so glad we did!

The house is on 2 levels, with the well appointed kitchen just inside the front entrance, opening on to a lounge with gas fire and stunning views to the Purcells beyond. The lounge has a deck, which is raised above the rear garden, as the ground falls away to the rear. Also on the entrance floor is the master bedroom and a study, which one of my sons used as quite comfortably as a bedroom with the airbed supplied.

Downstairs are 2 more lovely bedrooms and a laundry room, off of the tv room, which has 3 really comfy recliner cinema chairs - which my teenagers loved! This room also has a patio door opening out to the communal grassed yard beyond. We had deer passing the rear window one night, and heading into the canyon behind the property, and the local bighorn sheep were regular visitors outside the house.

All the fixtures are very high quality - a lovely steam shower in the master en suite, nice bed linens and towels, all the kitchen utensils you could need. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and we wanted for nothing. The property is on a quiet residential cul de sac - a 15 min walk into Radium where there are a handful of restaurants, a couple of basic supermarkets and petrol stations. Koonenay National Park is just a couple of miles away and you're straight into the stunning scenery that that offers. Windermere is about 10 miles away, with a wider range of shopping and eateries, a lakeside beach.

My only slight disappointment was the timber mill a mile or so away in the canyon behind the property. It was actually interesting to watch the activity there - so many trees! - but it was brightly lit at night drowning out the amazing starry skies i'd been hoping for.

But the views of the Bugaboos from the bedroom and deck were just amazing, and we'd not hesitate to stay here again when we go back to the Rockies. A real home from home!
