Notes
- Torre delle Stelle is a lovely village situated halfway between Cagliari and Villasimius. The village has its own shopping centre, restaurants, bars, pizzerias, cash machine and boutique. A variety of restaurants where typical Italian and/or Sardinian food is served are also just a few minutes drive away. As the pictures illustrate, the villa is perched on a hill with fantastic vistas of the beach and the mountains. At night, enjoy watching the lights of the Cagliari, Sardinia's capital, twinkle in the distance. Its a great get-away location for either couples or families. Prices are inclusive of WiFi, electricity and air conditioning for restful sleeps (up to 150 kWh/wk), gas and water. Note there is a 180 euro cleaning and linens fee that needs to be paid to our property manager in cash upon arrival.

Map
Torre delle Stelle is located on the South-eastern coast of Sardinia. This environmentally-protected village is 35km from Cagliari, Sardinia's capital, and its airport (Elmas). Created 30 years ago, it has become one of the most sought-after areas on the island. The village has two sandy-coved beaches - Genn'e Mari and Cannesisa. Villa Monti e Mare overlooks Cannesisa which one can access directly via a flight of stairs. Views from the villa extend westerly into the sunset, back along the coast toward the capital and out over the Gulf of Cagliari. Torre delle Stelle has communal tennis courts, a diving school, mooring, and a main piazza with live entertainment and/or cinema every night from mid July thru August. In the village one can find 3 restaurants, 2 supermarkets, 3 bars, cashpoint, fish monger and butcher. Please ask for opening times and days as they vary according to season.

Hello ! Our family found Torre delle Stelle several years ago. Having travelled to other parts of the country, my wife and I knew that we wanted some place in Italy to vacation with our (at the time) two young boys - ages 9 and 6. Although the northern part of Sardinia was well known and developed for the 'rich and famous', the south part of the island was very much undisturbed and more traditionally Sardinian. Unlike the more well-known Italian ports of call (Naples, Portofino, Liguria), this part of Italy was not extensively developed. This has left Torre delle Stelle and the surrounding coast and countryside with a much more 'Sardinian' feel, compared to, in many locations, the mainland's culture devoted to tourism. Seeing the more relaxed atmosphere in this part of Sardinia, we toured the south and found this newly constructed villa perched high on the hill, facing west, and overlooking the beautiful beach of Cannesisa. We knew instantly that with its views, privacy, and proximity to the beach and markets that we had found the place where we could start creating lasting families memories.
Randall and Gillian purchased this villa in 2005
Why Randall and Gillian chose Torre delle Stelle
As our family spends every year in villa MontiMare, we have created a place that we believe is ideal for family vacations. Here are some of the things we enjoy about the villa and the village : We are quite an active family and from the villa we can walk to the beach and the markets. It is about a 5-8 minute walk to Cannesisa beach and 10-15 minutes to the cafés and markets (depending if you are going down or returning up hill ;). However, if you choose, you can still take your car easily to either. With our boys now teenagers, we allow them the freedom to come and go as they please. They love to walk down to the cafes for breakfast in the morning and to play table soccer. In the afternoon they like to go to the beach and snorkel - returning sometimes with shellfood - that they have caught themselves - for lunch. We can also send them to the market at times for last-minute supplies for dinner. The villa is private. You can sit on the terraces for sun, you can have conversations at the dinner table, you can shower outside - all in complete privacy. The villa is equipped with air conditioning in every bedroom - important for the hot summer Sardinian nights. Enjoy a cooling swim in the villa's private pool if you prefer to remain on the property. My wife and I enjoy playing tennis in the morning at the village tennis courts. We never have to wait. We enjoy walking as a family to get a gelato after dinner. It is a 10 minute walk. Sometime when we don't want to cook we walk down for pizzas - to either eat there of bring back to the dining terrace to enjoy the sunset. If you are looking for a place to have a beach holiday with your family in a private villa in a surrounding that allows a bit of independence for your older children, and in a spot with fantastic views, then we think villa MontiMare is a great choice.
