Great Family Get-Together!
We had a large family gathering for 4 nights at the Mountain Fare Inn - more than 20 of us. And the Inn was perfect for us! We had plenty of room to sleep, and the kitchen and dining room was large enough for cooking and eating together. A great place to stay if you just want to hang out or explore the area for snow activities.

Great group retreat spot
Our group had a fantastic time at the Mountain Fare Inn! The innkeeper/owners were responsive and easy to work with, and the inn/carriage house had everything we needed for a large group to be comfortable and well-fed all weekend long. We loved all of the cozy spaces to hang out on a rainy day and had a ton of fun making campfires at night. I'd highly recommend an exclusive rental for a reunion, family vacation, ski weekend, or wedding!

Perfect setting for a ski retreat!
We were a large group of friends coming from Boston for our first visit to this Inn. Susan went out of her way both before and during our stay to accommodate our needs and desires for the trip. She and her staff welcomed us warmly and we were thrilled to discover the inn was even more lovely than the pictures suggest. Everyone in our group was able to enjoy their own private space while being close to everyone else for spending time together. With a diverse and unique number of rooms, there was something in each room to appeal to everyone one. The inn was a quick 10 min drive from the ski slopes, so it was extremely convenient for our time on the slopes. Finally we'd be remise not to mention the fantastic breakfast spread Susan and her staff put on for us each morning. The food was excellent and it was immensely helpful not to have to worry about breakfast in the mornings so we could all sleep in or hit the slopes early as we saw fit. We highly recommend this place and will be looking forward to coming back again ourselves.

About the host

Hosted by Susan Preston

Host profile image
Susan and Nick Preston have owned, enjoyed and stewarded the Mountain Fare property in Campton since 1982. They came to the area in 1980 as freestyle ski coaches for the Waterville Valley Ski Club and proceeded to raise two boys and run two businesses – Mountain Fare and Freestyle America, a summer freestyle training program that operates out of Waterville Valley, Whistler, BC, and Lake Placid to this day.

Why they chose this property

This property offers all the comforts of a good old fashioned stay with the ambiance of singing birds, swinging hammocks, outdoor grilling and Adirondack chairs around a fire pit. Plenty of acreage to kick a soccer ball or simply stroll past the extensive gardens and just breathe in that New Hampshire fresh air!

What makes this property unique

Mountain Fare is an historic New England building that sits on six acres bordering the White Mountain National Forest. It is one of the oldest classic ski lodges in New Hampshire.

Our area is special in that it is far from commercial distractions. Hike, bike, play golf, kayak, canoe, swim, play tennis, ski, snowshoe, trail run, explore the White Mountains or just get some reading done.
