Charming 2 Bedroom Cottage On Private Property With Pond.

Bedrooms 2
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Keystone Lodge, Built In 1932.

The cottage has two bedrooms and one bathroom and can easily accommodate 4 - 5 people. The master bedroom has a queen bed, the second a double. Pullout couch easily fits two people. We ask guests to bring their own bed linens and towels; we provide blankets and pillows. There is a river rock, wood-burning fireplace with wood provided, hardwood floors, built-in cabinets and TV corner cabinet. Free WiFi and cable. Heated by oil and electric. It has a lovely screened in front porch which is great for reading or napping or sitting with a few friends and a few bottles of wine. There is a track that leads into State Forest land that makes it impossible not to go for a walk. We take visitors over the age of 12 only. There is a very picturesque red barn that sits on the edge of a creek that flows into the pond. Large refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeepot, plates, cutlery and pots/pans/baking utensils, along with loads of storage in recently built-in workstation height counter and underneath cabinets. Slate-floored mudroom entering into the kitchen. There are about 8 homes of different styles and ages within our 'neighborhood.' No one too close but close enough that one doesn't feel overwhelmed by all the green. We are one mile from Wild Acres, Birchwood, Pocono Mt. Lake Forest, et al for visiting with friends and relatives.

We are a 'Green' area and ask visitors to take whatever trash they accumulate with them when leaving. Owner will do cleaning after visitors depart.

About Mary Feisenberger

One of us grew up in the U.S. and one of us grew up in England, and somehow there was no revolution. Our daughter lives in New Orleans and now so do we.

Mary Feisenberger purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Mary Feisenberger chose Delaware River Valley

It is unique and very 'local.' No developer's floor plan, old, well cared for, lived in and homey. It sits on half and acre and provides privacy but neighborhood vibes as well. My family began coming to the Poconos in the 1930s, I have wonderful growing up memories of visiting my grandparents and loads of cousins over the summers. My husband and I met here, married here and our daughter was born here. Many lovely family memories brought us here and made it difficult to leave. We look forward to returning to see friends and family at reunions and summer parties.

What makes this cottage unique

We fell in love with this property when we saw the pond, old-growth trees, the creek and the barn. We weren't even inside the house yet. In season there is comfy porch furniture for reading, napping, visiting, sharing drinks with friends. There is a pretty tree just off the front porch that turns yellow in the fall. Also two great, old fir trees that are now so grown and entwined, that I think of them as 'married.' Previous owners opened up the layout so it's open plan with arched doorways.

Amazing mini-getaway

  • 5 of 5

Charming is the exact word to describe this home, as well as it's owners! Nestled in the mountainside we immediately felt at peace. The small waterfall behind the home, birds chirping, cool evening air, and shade trees allowed us to relax beyond compare. If you are looking around and can't decide where to go.... this is it!

A Great Get-A-Way

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful cottage with peaceful surroundings, including a calming stream-fed large pond only steps from the front door! Hospitable and helpful owners, and excellent cuisine choices within a few miles. A perfect place to press clear.

Great cabin in the woods close to hiking and kayaking

  • 5 of 5

This place was great for our planned activities on our short vacation. Photography (great waterfalls in the area at Childs Park and Milford), kayaking on the gap or a little further up at Lake Wallenpaupack and hiking in the National Parks. Spacious house to come home too and make a nice dinner. Had our little dog with us and he loved being able to look out the windows and see some wildlife running around. The pond on the property was really beautiful. Mary called in the middle of our stay to ask if everything was satisfactory. The nights were cool during our stay and the fireplace came in handy after a long day hiking/kayaking.

Adorable home and property!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation in Dingmans Ferry. Mary was more than helpful throughout the entire process! Thank you for all your help.

The home is so cute and had all the comforts of home. We would sit at the dining table and watch dear walk through in the morning. Our only downfall is no a/c. Being from Mississippi we assume everyone has a/c. Even though we came during a heat wave the house has plenty of fans and is surrounded by trees in the country so it was plenty cool at night. We appreciate your hospitality Mrs. Mary and would definitely return.

Owner's Response: Hi Jessica! Thanks for the kind words. It really was a heat wave all over that week wasn't it? Thank goodness for the fans and good mountain air at night. I hope you had a safe trip home to Mississippi and we'll think of you as we make our next trip north through your neck of the woods. Thanks for visiting us and the door is always open. Best wishes, Mary Feisenberger

The DWGNRA, within the National Park Service welcomes millions of visitors a year and provides access to a myriad of activities. It is located 1.5 hours from NYC thus providing convenience in traveling. Must see is the town of Milford, bird-watching, Grey Towers and The Columns museums. Being so close to the Delaware River means access to all water/camping activities is readily available. We are not within a development but there are several within 1 to 3 miles that make it easy to visit friends and relatives and yet have a quiet getaway for yourself. Dingmans Ferry offers Camp Akenac which provides good fishing and swimming and boating activities for families. Good restaurants abound within a half-hour drive. A must see is the Marie Zimmermann home, a recently restored home set within 1200 acres belonging to Marie Zimmermann, a renowned artist in the Art Deco movement of the '30s. It is a Dutch Colonial revival, with French influences - a true house of interest with great local history. This home too is within the National Park Service. Grey Towers is the home of Pennsylvania's governor Pinchot, who was the founder of the Conservation Movement in the early 1900s and was name as the first Secretary of the Forestry by President Theodore Roosevelt. For good times - one must go to Rohman's Hotel in Shohola. No good trying to describe it - just go. Child's Park is five minutes away and offers swimming and picnicking. A great spot for breakfast and lunch is the Forklift Café, right in Dingmans Ferry, five minutes away. Tell Laurie we sent you. Excellent. Not a greasy spoon...very appetizing kind of offbeat menu. The Milford Theater hosts live music and theater. It's an historic little theater just re-opened within the last two years and hosts very talented artists and musicians who have traveled worldwide. We are lucky to have a bundle of talent in our area because of our close proximity to New York. The Upriver shop in Milford has nice gifts - for yourself and others - and will ship. The Milford Diner - where everyone knows your name - is an iconic spot. Come an enjoy a unique spot in this won't be disappointed.
