Bryce, Zion, Grand Staircase, Grand Canyon, Shakesperean Festival, Fishing are just a few of the many attractions you can do and see with-in a few minutes to 90 minutes of our home.

Beautiful nature setting right in the middle of Southern Utah's national parks. We are only 18 miles to the East Entrance of Zions National Park, 52 miles to Bryce Canyon National Park, 95 Miles to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, 55 miles to Utah's premier Shakespearean Festival, and just minutes to the west entrance of the Grand Staircase National Monument.

The home is located 1.4 miles up Lydias Canyon road on the west side of Scenic Highway 89. While cell phone coverage is very spotty, we do offer internet access and use of our home phone for domestic calls.

This was Grandma Sylvia and Grandpa Cornell (Polly) Chamberlain's home. It has since been expanded from the original home with less than 1000 square feet to over 3000 square feet. The entire second floor of over 1400 square feet is now a separate guest house with complete privacy.

The fully private second floor is accessed from external stairs to the deck, or via a private driveway that wraps around the house to the second floor level. You will enjoy up to three bedrooms, two full baths, your own laundry, complete kitchen with full sized stove / range and refrigerator.

Plenty of linens, towels, pots, pans, and dishes for up to 10 guests.

About Lee or Mary Jo Chamberlan

Lee and Mary Jo Chamberlain-(now 82 and 81 years old-) purchased this farm home from Lee's parents in 1985 and retired to the 'Ranch' in Lydias Canyon in 1993. Lee grew up in Glendale and on his dad's other ranch, Hogs Heaven located at the top of Zion's Narrows. His and Mary Jo's knowledge of Southern Utah can help you plan the perfect visit to this area they call home. Lee and Mary Jo occasionally occupy the lower apartment as a second home during the summer months and are available for consulting about vacation plans and area trails. The upper apartment is completely isolated from the lower apartment and the lower apartment is never rented out. They have also lived many years in Moab, UT, so if your plans include visiting Canyonlands, Arches, or Capitol Reef National Parks and all points in between, please just ask. They can direct you to all of the best areas that you haven't seen. Even if this is not your first visit to Southern Utah.

Why Lee or Mary Jo Chamberlan chose Glendale

This was Lee's parents home in Lydias Canyon. Lee grew up in Glendale working the ranch in Lydias Canyon and Dry Wash just across Highway 89. When they were planning their retirement from the BLM, Lee and Mary Jo asked his parents if they could purchase their home from them. Lee's parents lived a few more years in the home after they sold it to Lee and Mary Jo before moving into Glendale.

What makes this apartment unique

Lydia's canyon is a little green oasis in the middle of a much more arid Southern Utah. With nearly 100 springs and a small stream running through the canyon, the meadows stay lush and green from spring until the first hard frost.

Deer, turkeys, squirrels, porcupines, and even the occasional mountain lion and bear have been seen in the canyon. In the fall, the maples splash red among the yellows and browns of the fall foliage. At night, the stars blaze in color. Being over a mile from Scenic Highway 89, the evenings are quiet and peaceful.

old but serviceable and very clean.

It is dated, but really served our needs. Only thing is the road, of 1.2 miles was not paved, and that was a minor problem. The owners were wonderful and kind people. It was close to ZION and Bryce Canyon Parks. JS

Wonderfully secluded.

Mary Jo and Lee were charming and hospitable. They live on the lower level, and rent the upper as guest quarters. They and their son provided lots of information about the area -- grocery stores, restaurants and places to see.

There was a wide selection of sleeping accommodations available. Great for our grandchildren to be able to choose their place. The kitchen was minimally but adequately equipped. The washer and dryer were super.

We stayed during a record breaking heat wave. Daily highs topped 100. During the hottest part of the afternoon, the air-conditioning was not able to keep up with the heat. However, at night it cooled off enough that we were able to turn off the AC and open the windows.

The house is on a dirt/gravel road several miles from the highway. The night-time skies were incredible. We were unable to pick out familiar constellations because there were so many stars. The Milky Way was clearly visible. My husband went out walking most early mornings, seeing many birds and finding friendly neighbors to talk with.

Other reviewers commented that it was a long drive to Zion and Bryce. We knew this when we chose this rental, but decided that the longer drives were worth not having to pack up and move every couple of days. This was a wonderful place for our extended family to spend time together.

As long as the temperature remains under 100, I don't think anyone would be disappointed renting this apartment.

Lovely farm home

Hi Mary Jo and Lee - Thank you for your hospitality - You are both most gracious. We enjoyed our stay at Polly's. Spacious and private, all the beds were comfortable, well stocked kitchen and baths, roomy floor plan for family of eight with a deck and barbecue which we grilled chicken and corncob - we did cook all our meals and sat at the family dinner table - connecting . Now back home, we are still thinking about your beautiful countryside property perfectly situated to visit both Bryce and Zion and for a time, live in the countryside. We also enjoyed Glendale where we rented a Razor OHV and Mystic River zip line where we feed carrots to the horses. Also Orderville for a German bakery and Terry's market grocer. Awesome location to Bryce, Zion and other attractions

Lee and Mary Jo were wonderful hosts and their home was a wonderful retreat at the end of a busy, but glorious day. This property is located within 2 hours of every major attraction in the area, and we could easily take in three Nat'l parks, some Nat'l monuments and other attractions and still get home in the evening to relax on the patio overlooking the valley. Home was well equipped - we did not have cell service, but it was a nice break from the craziness of the outside world. We cooked every night and were able to pack lightly due to the washer and dryer available. We would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the area.
