Lennart Hiemstra purchased this House Boat in 2009
Why Lennart Hiemstra chose Amsterdam-West
Me and my wife always dreamed of living on a houseboat in Amsterdam. The dream came true in 2009 when we moved in. It is a wonderfull experience. Right in the middle of the city, without the crampyness of an apartment. The water view is just lovely. It really is nature in the city
What makes this House Boat unique
Watching boats pass by. Waking up with the sound of a flock of hungry geese knocking on your window. Feeding hand tame swans by hand from the breakfast table. Lounging on the sofa on a cold stormy winternight and enjoying the heat and comfort inside. Playing loud music and not worrying about the neighbours ;-)
Check-in: 3:00 pm

Great place to stay!
We fully enjoyed our stay at Houseboat Hugo. It was spacious enough for four adults, great amenities, and super comfy beds! Location was great as well - a 5 minute walk to the tram and many places within walking distance too! We will definitely be staying here again!
Close to all transit and good restaurants
The area the property was located was on the edge of the centrum. We walked everywhere. We used the transit when we wanted to go further. With all the transit lines near the house boat we were able to go in any direction. There were many good restaurants nearby.
Very sweet location, a respite from the hustle and bustle.
Great location. Soooooo nice to come home to the quiet of this canal, the ducks, geese and swans. Big windows to open, comfortable furniture. Four of us (adults) stayed for 5 days. We managed well in the space and loved having such close access to restaurants, shops and all the places we wanted to see!
Great place, nice location
Nice houseboat on a more quiet canal which was great for sleeping etc. Very charming neighborhood and houseboat. Can accommodate 4 people comfortably.
a lovely syay
very close to everything and a quirky way to stay on a house boat
An attractive and fun place to stay.
Clean, comfortable, well-maintained, focused on the renter. Good location, adequate furnishings and good appliances. Would rent it again.
My Amsterdam houseboat is located just next to the Jordaan area. Within a couple of hundred yards you will find 5 great coffee bars, 7 restaurants and numerous bars.
When you cross the canal you enter the Jordaan. The Jordaan is one of the most sought after areas of Amsterdam. It hosts dozens of boutique clothing stores. It also caters the very best italian restaurants is a small subsection of the Jordaan. Jordaan is famous for it's small narrow streets where the working people of Amsterdam used to live
Both the streets around the houseboat as the Jordaan area are safe areas to explore. You can walk here any time of day without any trouble. Of course, Amsterdam is still a city as any other, but street crime is very low in general, and these areas in specific.
