This garden oasis (we've planted over 3,000 trees and plants) is in the most awesome location - situated right at the entry of Kailua Beach Park - walk out the back gate and you are 100 steps from Kailua Beach where you will find 2.5-miles of its famous soft white-sand and turquoise water - - often rated in the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world. Beach walk, swim, kayak, wind-surf, kite board, body surf, snorkel, hike, walk/jog the Lanikai loop (4 miles around door-to-door) - there is an abundance of fun activities here...or, completely relax and chill out - it's very easy in this quiet & secluded bungalow.

Great retreat for a maximum of 2 easy-going, nonsmoking (since we request no smoking anywhere on the property) adults (18 years and older only). We accept reservations that begin and end on any combination of the following days: Thurs-Sun.

About Cheri Michel Brazwell

I am a leadership/mgmt consultant and I have been very lucky in that my work has allowed me to coach and lead workshops on 5 continents. My husband and I love to explore the world and, when we are at home, we love to renovate - bringing old homes back to life! We have enjoyed welcoming guests into our space here in Kailua - the property is huge (over 20,000 sq. ft.) and so, guests can feel very secluded in their private gardens.

Why Cheri Michel Brazwell chose Oahu

There isn't anything like it - the location is amazing - walk out the back door and you're 100 steps from Kailua Beach. The property has been likened to a botanical garden - we have planted over 3,000 trees and plants - wait until you experience the night-jasmine opening up at night. the bungalows are artfully designed with high-end furnishings, original art. We only use top linens & towels. Loving and creative attention to detail...

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our first time visit to Hawaii started off with Cheri and Scott's secluded bungalow. Cheri greeted us and provided everything we needed to make our stay complete. She even provided a few extra treats! We absolutely loved the tropical gardens ... So very beautiful ! The beach access and proximity to local businesses was perfect! The bungalow was very private and secluded ! We also enjoyed all the artistic touches in the decor . Cheri and Scott were very friendly and available if needed. We would highly suggest this hideaway.

Hands-down best place to stay in Kailua

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was beyond fantastic! We came to Kailua to elope on our favorite beach. Upon arrival, Cheri gave us a tour of the beautiful property and our bungalow. Once we settled in we took a quick walk to Kailua Beach which is literally less than 50 yards from their backyard! Nearby restaurants, Whole Foods, the Kalapawai Market next door and Target gave us everything we needed. However, The Bungalow had shampoos, towels, soaps, microwave, fridge, beach toys, TV, and a really really comfortable bed! So you practically don't need to leave. Cheri was also kind enough to let us take a few pictures on the garden grounds and they turned out amazing! If you stay here, you won't be disappointed. It's exactly how you would imagine a trip to paradise to be. Thank you Cheri and Scott!

Perfect vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this rental from the moment we drove through the gate until the moment we left. Secluded and private, yet easy access to beach, town and all that Kailua has to offer. Cheri was a fantastic host and extremely responsive. The bungalow was decorated perfectly and felt very welcoming. Although, not a full kitchen it had everything you needed to make meals, including a portable induction stove top (which are amazing). We could not have asked for a better stay.

Steps to the Beach

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely place to stay. The garden is beautiful (really can't describe it but it was the best garden we saw anywhere) and calming and there are birds everywhere. We could walk out the back gate and there we were, at the ocean. It was perfect.

We cooked on the grill outside every night and loved our little bungalow by the sea.

Thanks Cheri for the excellent Prosecco you had ready for us to celebrate my birthday and for the soft comforter you brought to us when the nights were cooler. We felt really lucky to have found your place. We barely drove anywhere at all (one of our goals for the trip). We walked the beach every day, walked to the grocery store, read, cooked and swam in the warm water.

This is a good place to stay. If you want to relax and slow way down, this is it. The town is right there (just a 10 minute walk) if you want it.

Mahalo!

Paradise Found

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival I commented that everything looked even better than the pics and web description. Cheri replied that they like to under promise and over deliver, that they did! We enjoy locally sourced food and drink, quiet, relaxed places with character and some adventure, and of course, clean, comfortable lodging. With Cheri and Scott's shangri-la, we hit a home run over the fence, right out of the box. Cheri greeted us with a warm welcome, helpful tour, and thoughtful delectables - chilled champagne on ice, local dark chocolate, macadamia nuts, kona coffee, tropical fruits and fresh flowers from their 300+ native plantings, even locally made coconut mango bath products. Some of our favorite memories include relaxing in the lush, shaded lanai watching tropical birds play in the fountain three feet away from us, taking in the newest tropical blooms as we headed down the garden path to the beach - and the beach...Kailua 24/7 great waves, powdery sand, turquoise indigo aqua hues with colorful kite and wind surfers, verdant green mountains and islands, yoga at sunrise on Lanikai Beach, sunset from the terrace Beachhouse Restaurant, sunrise ocean kayak to bird sanctuary reef (perfect timing between Hurrincanes Madeline and Lester - challenging but fun!), and super slick super deep mud hiking to Maunawili Falls (also challenging but fun!)...so many great memories. We stocked up on local fruits & veggies at the Farmer's Market - especially loved the killahpeppa water from the poi guy (next to the honey lady, just down from Sky Kombucha - we loved those vendors too)...pay it forward, buy a bag of kettle corn from the kettle corn guy (gave us a freebie bag at closing time, scrumptious!), we ate breakfast & lunch home a lot so we could really savor all the fresh, local stuff and make the most of our beach/lanai time. Restaurants recommendations include Over Easy (brunch bowl - take the chef's recommendation to mix it all up), Cactus (good food but service and sangria not great), Beachhouse Restaurant on North Shore - ask to sit in front for best view of sunset, Denise's table (top notch service), and cafe same name as green store next door...(forgot it already!). Oh yes, one more very important recommendation...Lomi Lomi Hana Lima massage with Sailor Solley. We usually like to try different places and will likely visit another island next time we go to Hawaii, but this was such a perfect vacation spot we will likely make an exception and revisit.

Nice Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I vacationed on Oahu last week and had a nice experience staying at this bungalow. The owners were great and very welcoming! This is a very small unit and because we were not there much it was perfect for our needs. It is private with beautiful plants lining your walk to the beach. My husband loved the market next door. He was so ecstatic about the coffee he walked to get every morning we brought four packages home! Thanks Cheri for allowing us in to your sanctuary!

What a dreamy place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

When my best friend found this little gem online, we knew we had to be there! We booked our girls getaway vacation right after we found this bungalow, and I'm so happy we were able to vacation in such a lovely, comfortable place. The bungalow was very clean and cozy, and the work that Cheri and Scott have put into the gardens is incredible. Waking up every day to the singing of birds and lush, colorful gardens surrounding the bungalow was truly something I won't ever forget. I highly suggest waking up early, putting on your swimsuit and heading to the beach for an early morning dip while you watch the sunrise over the Kailua Beach...then heading back to the bungalow for a cup of kona coffee, stopping at the awesome (and convenient) outdoor shower before heading back inside. The garden room was lovely and had a peaceful view into the garden, along with the soft trickling sounds of the fountain, made for a relaxing vacation indeed. Zazu and Neo (the kitties) were too cute, and hung out with us often outside in the garden. We grilled nearly every night, so it was nice being so close to Whole Foods...and the farmers markets were an awesome place to support local farmers and get fresh produce and goodies. Cheri and Scott were very helpful and attentive to our needs, and pointed us in the direction of things to check out that were near by. We explored Oahu quite a bit while we were in paradise for 10 days, but coming home every night to Cheri and Scott's dreamy bungalow was the perfect ending to many perfect days spent in the sunshine, on the beach and exploring all the great stuff Oahu has to offer. I couldn't have asked or hoped for a better place to rent during our stay. We loved every minute of our stay...the hardest part of the trip was having to say goodbye, but we won't ever forget our experience in Kailua at the happiest little bungalow in Oahu. Thanks for sharing your little slice of heaven with us, Cheri and Scott! Hope to return some day and do it all again. Aloha!
