About this property

2 Bd Furnished Short Term Vacation Rental in Quito

Short Term Apartment Hotel Rental in Quito
It’s been carefully crafted to accommodate the most discerning travelers. It’s a rare combination of elegance, comfort, and price as we say in the hospitality business. This splendid jewel of a tower in the heart of Quito Norte will engulf you in a feeling of abundance and touch you by its serene atmosphere.

It’s quite surprising the owner has made this unit available as a furnished apartment hotel rental at this building. So this is an option you’d seriously consider because of its rarity in value.

This 2Bd/2Ba condo can accommodate up to 4 individuals and is located in the upscale sector called La Carolina right next to the Carolina Park. This brand new 17-story building rises up majestically on one of the main Avenues of Quito called Shyris. It’s ideal for business people, diplomats, or the discerning traveler.

This well-thought out and carefully executed plan meets the expectations of the most discriminating visitor who needs a “home away from home” while on the road.

When asked why he wanted to offer this type of accommodations, the owner responded:
“We’re visitors ourselves and wanted to stay in a more spacious place and cook our own meals. When we Googled the terms Ecuador rentals or Quito hotel rentals, the results shown were not what we sought. The common practice for short term rentals is to have you sign a year contract, 1st month rent, plus 2-month security deposit- all up front. You’d forfeit a 1-month security if you break up the lease. We wanted to offer an alternative with one thought in mind a -home away from home – if you will” he concludes.

His condo caters to the occasional visitor since there’s no contract to sign or any penalties to pay. Stay as long as you need and allow the owner to provide the accommodations you so desire to find.

A female touch was put on this property by the wife’s owner who ensured every little detail has been thought out:
» Brand spanking new & spacious 2bedroom, 2 bath apartment hotel
» 2 brand new queen side beds
» 50” Samsung Smart TV (over 135 traditional channels and 37 HD channels, Youtube & NetFlix)
» Roman blinds and curtains for those private moments
» Ample closet space for your travel luggage
» Enough blankets to keep you warm and cozy during those restful nights
» Fully stocked kitchen. Everything you need to make a delicious finger licking homemade meal
» Comfortable living room furniture. Turn the dim lights on to set the mood for romance
» Granite countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms
» Wood floor across entire apartment hotel (except kitchen & bathroom areas)
» Washer and dryer
» Iron and ironing board to help you look your best for those business engagements
» An oven you can use to roast your chicken or turkey
» A microwave to reheat your meal, your tea, or coffee
» Ecuador offers many exotic fruits, mix them up in our blender and have a juicy delicious frappé
» A Coffee Press for your early morning coffee
» A kettle for your hot water
» A modern 4-burner electric stove
» Let’s not forget a roomy fridge to keep your food fresh and ice cream frozen

Why should this apartment hotel be your only choice?
» Enjoy the breathtaking views of Quito nestled in the Andes Mountains
» 24 hour security, security cameras throughout the building, and card-controlled garage
» Wired and/or wireless internet access
» Assigned underground parking spot at no charge
» A workstation with its corporate chair for when you're in the “working mood” or just surf the web
» Access to the sauna and steam room for those “I need to relax” escapes

What Is Near By The Apartment?
“We invested in this piece of real estate for its favorable location. There is plenty of security, people, and most businesses are open late at night in this area” says the owner.

The building is literally in front of Park La Carolina. It’s a great location to see the youths of Quito play all kinds of activities from soccer, basketball, rollerblading, bicycling, and running. It’s a perfect location for a Sunday stroll and even enjoy those very frequent park fairs with musical concerts, delicious food, and bargain deals.

According to the wife’s owner, it’s as if the Park has become the central nervous system of Quito Norte and it offers many activities for children, adults, and the occasional love birds. For youngsters, please visit the Planetarium and the Botanical Garden.

There are countless restaurants along the Avenue of Republica del Salvador, Amazonas, Portugal, and Naciones Unidas. Just to name a few that top the list:
» Pizzeria- Restaurant El Hornero
» Brand new Juan Valdez Café (a short walk from the building is your Starbucks coffee Quito equivalent)
» Cyrano Bakery & Gelato Corfu (less than a block away from Juan Valdez Café)

There are two very convenient mini-markets (your 7-11 Quito version) where you can pick up some fresh organic fruits, vegetables, and groceries.

The biggest and the 'baddest' supermarket: SUPERMAXI (Equivalent to Wal-Mart in the USA) located just a short 10-minute walk.

ATM Machine (there is a convenient store named: OkiDoki that opens late at night).

A number of financial institutions and foreign exchange houses are well within walking distance.

Malls El Jardin, Quicentro, and CCNU are also located north of the building, just a pleasant stroll away.

Well transited area to hail a taxi. For about $3- $2 taxi ride, you can haul off to the stylish area “La Mariscal” where you’ll find great restaurants, bars/pubs, internet cafes, bookstores, art galleries, and all sorts of street entertainment.

Code of Behavior: The building is occupied by a few professional offices and mostly by residential condominiums. People who are retirees, senior citizens, as well as the usual working professionals who appreciate a safe, upscale environment, and value the opportunity to come back home for a restful night.

The owner asks that you adhere to the rules of acceptable social behavior and conduct yourself in a manner that poses no threat to anyone or to yourself. Refrain from any laud music, screaming out the window, tossing trash out of the windows, peeing in public areas, or the like.

If you feel it’s time to go “wild” because you’re in another country and because you’re away from your mom, the owner asks you NOT to choose his Quito apartment for your stay. There will be NO refunds if you’re asked by security to leave the premises.

Apartment Hotel Rules:There is a high level of trust that needs to be built for this service to work. On one hand, you need a safe, reliable, comfortable place to stay whereas the owner also needs to know that his place will be in good hands with you. He thinks of you more of a guest of his family rather than a stranger renting a vacation rental in Quito.

There is a refundable deposit which is given back to you at check out time assuming that no damages to the property has been done and the inventory remains the same. This is just a deterrent practice and not a money maker for him. He wants to return your money and not have to use it to replace a broken or missing item.

You’ll be asked for the identification of every member in your party. The security front desk will be notified of your group and time of arrival. Only authorized /registered guests can stay in the apartment hotel.

Please observe these guidelines:
» NO big wild bash to celebrate your arrival to Quito is permitted
» No firearms of any kind allowed
» No pets allowed
» No smoking in the apartment hotel
» No illicit drugs allowed
» Do NOT invite a troop of people or any other person outside of what was initially agreed upon
» You cannot sublease or rent your stay while as a guest at this Quito vacation rental
Note: Again, there will be no refunds if you’re asked by security to leave the premises.

Local Transportation:
» Just a short walk away on the Avenue 6th of December, there is the Ecovia bus line. For 25 cents, you can take it to the Historic Center - a world heritage site by UNESCO and explore its remarkable churches, plazas, museums, restaurants/cafes and cobblestone streets. From historic center you can walk to the San Roque market where you can find bargains for clothes, fresh produce, and fruits.

» Quito also offers its double decker buses (hop on/off) that cover a 3-hour tourist route. You can visit over 11 stops of the most significant tourist destinations.

» There are also regular bus lines that stop right in front of the building.

Refund Policies: All requests for a refund must be in writing. Depending on the date, the refund policy is:
30-day notice full refund
15-day notice 50% refund
7-day notice 25% refund
6-day or fewer-day 0% refund
Be sure of your days prior to booking. He’s interested in earning your business by servicing you, not in a lotto ticket by getting your money without earning it.

Paper Work Requirements:
To complete the guest registration forms necessary for building management to green light your visit, please provide:
1. Color copy of your passport
2. Proof of home address (driver license and/or utility bill)
3. A signed inventory sheet upon arrival
4. Read his welcome brochure to get the most value out of your stay.
5. $79 Damage Protection Insurance policy.

He wants you to be happy and satisfied & enjoy a worry-free visit to Quito.

Unfortunately we had to cancel our booking. Wil was very helpful and thorough in the entire process. We received our refund promptly. We will definitely book here when we return to Quito.

Not welcoming
I felt insulted from my first interaction with the owner. For example, he required me to buy insurance in addition to the required security deposit - the insurance was more than the cost of a night’s rental. When I called from the airport on check-in day to get entry instructions, Wil accused me of not having paid. I had to provide proof of payment with a screenshot of the receipt. When we arrived at the apartment, we were met by a friendly caretaker but had to spend the next half hour going through an exhaustive inventory list which included the numbers of each kind of dishes, fake plants, light fixtures, pictures on the wall and on and on ad nauseam. There was no dish soap and only 1/3 roll of toilet paper in one bathroom and none in the other! No coffee filters either; not to mention no welcoming starter package of coffee. Nothing about this has been welcoming. I rented through VRBO as an owner for 12 years and this is Not Okay! The apartment was neat and clean, conveniently located, with good security. The caretaker is friendly and helpful, but guests should know that she doesn’t speak English, although the owner, Wil, is fluent in both Spanish and English and was available by phone.

Quality Apartment
Overall the apartment was well furnished and tastefully decorated. All the appliances were of high quality and everything worked. The Wifi was trouble-free and had good speed. I stayed there for a month and only had one period of about 3 hours when the provider interrupted service. The owner is very helpful and responds within a reasonable timeframe. It is not a very quiet environment, though. It is located on a busy street and the neighbors like to play their stereo loud enough that the bass-heavy notes penetrate into the living room, and sometimes they do that early in the morning, around 8 to 8:30. The street noise subsides during the night and did not interfere with my sleep. I mentioned the neighbor's music to the owner and he contacted the building manager but they still kept doing it periodically. The neighborhood is safe and there are grocery stores and wine shops within easy walking distance.

December 2015
We stayed here for over a week while visiting our daughter who was studying in Quito. The apartment was excellent and the location was the best part. Accessibility to shopping, and the Park, and other speciality shops was wonderful and all within walking distance of the condominium. We only have two comments: the mattress on the bed was too hard and having the TV in one bedroom is not convenient for other guests in the apartment, it really needs to be in the living room. The apartment was home for us!

About the host

Hosted by Wil Chirinos

Host profile image
In the ground of his school, the owner’s 4-year old wondered off from his classroom, a teacher realizing he seems “lost” asked him:
Son where are you from?
His reply: I’m from Earth!
Her answer: well, that certainly narrows it down. Let’s see if I can help you find your classroom.

Although, his honest answer is comical, yet it describes a feeling the owner and his family share. They like to explore, travel, and see the world.

Born in Latin America, educated in Michigan, and worked for a number of years in New York City. He has visited a roaster of more than 40 countries for business and for personal reasons.

The owner considers himself an entrepreneur, a traveler, and works independently from any geographical location.

Met his sweet heart while traveling to Ukraine & formed a family with one child born in New York City, while his second child was born in Arizona. They consider themselves to be a truly international family and frequently haul off to a remote location as the opportunity arises.

When it comes to comparing people from different nationalities, it is imperative to frame that comparison in terms of “different” as opposed to better/worst or superior/inferior, says the owner. Thanks to their exposure to many cultures and travel, they realize the importance of keeping “an open mind”.

Because of their familiarity with accommodations on the road, they realize it’s very difficult to find a decent place to stay on short term bases. Time shares might not be available where you’re traveling to or one needs to sign a long term contract. Either choice was not ideal to them.

The idea of finding a place one could call home for a while is rare in many places especially if it has all the supplyware necessary to call it “home away from home”.

The owner and his family always wanted to build a place where anyone would feel at ease and the concept of an apartment hotel rental for short term bases was born.

Why they chose this property

The city of Quito has morphed into a flourishing and thriving community and it's evident by just observing the many new buildings, businesses, and infrastructure being erected. It's as if the city is going through its own renascence period of economic development.

Even with this transformation, Quito still exhibits proudly its colonial history, cultures, and traditions. It has found its balance between the new more modern way of life and its traditional ways of the past. A short trip to historic center, one can be dazzled by the contrast of Old town Quito skyline with the Andes valley surrounded by Volcanic peaks. These images form the back drop of new era of contemporary Quito.

Having traveled to Ecuador in a few occasions and to various other parts in the country, the owner and his family fell in love with this South America nation. The warmth of its people, the comfortable climate year around, and the selection of exotic finger-licking fruits made Ecuador a very addicting country to come back to.

Quito, being one of the main hubs for international travelers in Ecuador, rendered the capital city the best market to set up an apartment hotel for vacation rentals.

The owner chose the area of the Carolina because of its laissez-faire, laid back atmosphere, its proximity to shopping malls, and restaurants. The business community center around what is called Quito Norte and the Carolina Park is at its heart. The building is literally within a stone throw away from the park, the botanical garden, and the planetarium.

Many Quiteños (residents of Quito) consider this zone to be an upper class, safe, and well located neighborhood. Four main shopping malls are within an easy walk, too.

What makes this property unique

After their decision was made that Quito was the best place for setting up a short term apartment vacation rental, they scouted the city until they found this brand new building with still available units.

His wife said to him: 'This is the place. It's elegant and looks majestic towering over on one of the main arteries of the city - Avenida Shyris' - she gasped in astonishment.

The owner and his family often stay in this place. They know firsthand what is needed to make this apartment hotel in Quito comfortable and in the fullest sense of the words 'your home away from home'.

For example, have you ever stayed in a hotel or apartment you were told has Internet access, just to learn that the speed of the connection is so poor, you might as well go to the local cyber café?

The owner made sure a wired or wireless connection to the Internet is available at a decent speed. His router Wi-Fi connection is strong enough to cover every piece of real estate in the apartment reliably. So if you're looking for a quiet place to crash and work while on the road, you'll be very satisfied with this new apartment for rental in Quito.

Unlimited telephone calls - A USA based telephone is available that you can communicate with friends, family, or business associates at no extra charge.

If traveling with children, there is a baby high chair, a push car stroller you're welcome to use them. There is an onsite playground, too.

The building also offers a Sauna, Steam room, and a Jacuzzi you can enjoy while as a guest. Security guard available 24x7in the premise. Save on parking expenses if you rent a car by using the assigned parking garage on-site at no extra charge.

In addition, you'll receive a welcome brochure explaining the who, the what, the where - all those questions of staying at this elegant, one of kind Quito apartment hotel.

There are also maps, brochures, and guides in this apartment hotel to help you plan your schedule while in Quito.
