Overview

About the property

Our Six-bedroom, Five-bathroom House Is Located On 2.5 Wooded Acres.

Surrounded by protected green space for dozens of acres of rolling hills and woods, the property has a fire pit, a swing set and climber for kids, and lots of space to run around and explore.

A large front porch overlooks the front yard, perfect for enjoying morning coffee or an early evening cocktail. A large screened-in porch faces the back yard, where the barbecue grill generally lives. The large back yard is the perfect place for kids to play and for informal family soccer or football games. Beyond the yard are more woods to explore.

Inside the house, a large den, formal dining room, sun room, and a study contain two decorative fireplaces. The kitchen has a large Viking stove with six burners and two ovens with plenty of room for large dinner parties. The house is furnished with everything you need for your stay, including bed linens, towels, kitchen equipment, cooking staples and basic toiletries.

Six bedrooms occupy the second floor, including four queen beds, along with two rooms with a total of five twin beds. The house comfortably sleeps twelve. Entertainment in the house includes ping pong, foosball and two television sets with DVD players.

The house is close to the Norfolk town center, skiing, the public town pond, a playground, soccer field, tennis courts, four state parks, wineries, Music Mountain and tubing on the Farmington River. In Norfolk, there are restaurants and the famous Infinity Hall, an incredible setting for viewing music and other performances. The Yale Music School holds performances on their beautifully-landscaped grounds at the center of town throughout the summer and the Norfolk public library is an architectural gem with a great kids’ room. A farmers’ market runs from late spring to mid-fall every Saturday. The town of Winsted has lots to offer including go carts, mini-golf, duck pin bowling, batting cages, a free-public skate park, and a dinner movie theater. Scenic towns nearby for great day trips include Great Barrington, Salisbury, Kent and Litchfield.

This setting is perfect for a small retreat or family get-away you will always remember.

Familt gathering

  • 5 of 5

Very pleasant home for a large family gathering of three generations. Many rooms made accomodations of both sleeping and of places to be loud or quiet very easy. Beautiful grounds on one of the most beutiful lanes in New England.

Norfolk, CT

The home was very comfortable and it easily accommodates a large group. We had 8 people. The kids loved the yard and the swing. There are 6 bathrooms but only two showers. We loved touring the area.

A beautiful cozy home for a weekend getaway!

  • 4 of 5

This was the perfect house for a weekend getaway with my friends and family! Robert was great to work with and provided us with a lot of information regarding the house, what was provided, and even what to do in the area during our stay. it was a spacious house with rooms galore and plenty of things to do right at the house. The house is located in what seems like a remote or small town which can be quiet but there are plenty of things to keep you busy at the house. We grilled the first night and hung out after we spent our day at the local balloon festival. From playing songs on the piano to exploring the house in general, it was just what we all needed. Thank you Robert and family!! : )

Large Home with lots of areas to meet and gather

  • 4 of 5

We had 8 people in the home over labor day 2017 for a local wedding. The home was large and easily accommodated our extended family. Lots of meeting areas / living room that worked well for us. The dinning room is very large and can accommodate large groups. The home is old and has character, squeaking floors etc. The kitchen has been updated but not all rooms are updated but they as you would expect for a home this old. Nice assortment of games and there was a piano and guitar in the home. There is a large yard both front and back.

The house worked well for us and the information in the home recommending places to eat was very helpful. Overall a great rental and place for us to congregate for the wedding.

A spacious, attractive get away home

  • 4 of 5

Our family enjoyed being all together in Norfolk in this beautiful old house. We tended to congregate in the well appointed kitchen and family room, but we also enjoyed the lovely bedrooms. The fall color was magnificent, while we were there, and we enjoyed several walks. There were excellent maps and brochures to help us make informed choices. The weather was chilly, but the house was warm and comfortable. We had lots of room to spread out and special places to come together. It was ideal for our family weekend.

Great of house but with limited shower facilities

  • 4 of 5

If you like big old rambling houses with lots of character this is for you. Many beds, but outside of master bath only one shower. Can get backed up easily. Don't look under beds or along walls, you will find lots of dustballs. Only reason I did this was to find outlets for computer, (Limited number of convenient outlets available in bedrooms.)
