Kentigern's Shed - Modern 'dwell' Type Chesapeake Bay Waterfront

Bedrooms 2
Space 500 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 6 nights

About the property

1 1/2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4

If you love a small but creative and well-appointed beach house directly on the water - one with modern amenities and an amazing screened porch, Kentigern's 'Shed' (built on the site of the former shed) is for you (1 queen bedroom plus one queen murphy bed and one bath). This 2 story modern beach house is newly built and perfect for a couple or a small party. The house has everything you really need for a relaxing weekend away or vacation.

Situated directly on Chesapeake, hear the waves while you cook, read or relax; see diverse wildlife including, herons, swans, ospreys, bald eagles, and pelicans through expansive glass windows or from the screened-in porch. Or, grab a beach chair or towel and head for the sandy beach. With two kayaks and 2 bicycles provided with the rental (more can be rented for an additional fee, if needed), Kentigern's Shed is a spot you won't want to leave. Enjoy local oysters, a weekend wine tasting at nearby Woodlawn plantation, kayak, fish, sunbathe or just kick back and relax.

A short-bike ride away is Point Lookout State Park, a Civil War site. Today the park, which is located at the intersection of the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River, hosts miles of protected land set aside for biking, kayaking, boating, fishing, camping or enjoying nature as well as a museum that provides a historical perspective on the region. Or charter a boat at one of many local marinas for a day of fishing on the Bay. Another nearby historical site is St. Mary's City (10 miles), the original capital of Maryland. Visitors are 25 minutes from dining and shopping on Solomon's Island or in historic Leonardtown. Or enjoy one of several local marina restaurants. Want a day trip away? All that the nation's capital has to offer is a short 80 miles away.

Collect shells and beach glass while walking miles along the sandy beach. So close to Washington and other major cities, yet so far!

Somehow both modern and quaint.

Awesome little “shed”. It is the perfect size for two people. You can definitely fit four, but there only two beds. Interesting bathroom layout, but super nice overall. Peggy and the property managers are accessible and helpful. And it is really easy to get in and out.

Delightfully quirky Chesapeake getaway

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I celebrated our 27th anniversary here this past weekend. It is an intimate little place with a clever use of space. We had never seen a walk-thru shower before! The bathroom is definitely unique! The beach and view are very nice. We really enjoyed the screened-in porch off the bedroom. I even napped out there. This is the perfect place for a couples getaway. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the living room is a bit awkward. The settee was rather uncomfortable and the TV is mounted up high on the wall so you have to crane your neck to watch it. This of course is a matter of preference and I'm sure many people don't have a problem with this. My husband has back problems and I have a chronic pain condition, so we are particular about furniture. Otherwise, it is a charming house perfect for a quiet getaway. Be sure to go outside in the evening to hear the bullfrog symphony.

Owner's Response: We appreciate this guess kind comments and also the suggestion of more comfortable furniture in the living room. We are on the lookout for smaller-sized furniture that would fit the space. Will post new photos as soon as we can. In the meantime what's there is not bad but we understand that it is not perfect for everyone.

Beautiful little home

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay at the Shed! The home is small but plenty of space for 2 people. There is a small fire pit and charcoal bbq that we used both nights. There's just something about sitting in front of a fire on the beach; completely relaxing!

Once again.....

  • 5 of 5

Once again I have had the pleasure of staying in one of Peggy's houses! I love the design flare she has in each of her units and can't wait to stay at a different one next year! One of these days the weather will be nice enough to use kayaks, we were able to use the bikes and had a nice ride to Point Lookout! This house is perfect for a couple!

Wonderful light and setting; beautiful little house

  • 5 of 5

This was perfect for our family of four (2 little kids) and our dog. We stayed in the off season and had the entire beach to ourselves. The house is cozy, beautiful and petite, perfect for a week getaway. My only improvement would be some smaller glasses or cups for little ones (only huge glasses and wine glasses currently.
