Welcome! We invite you to bring your friends and family into our beautiful San Diego home for a relaxing stay! Our home is in one of the city's truly special historic neighborhoods. We are centrally located with easy freeway access and quaint shops and boutiques within walking distance. From the moment you walk through our gate, past the rose garden and into the living room, you will feel right at home. Our dining area is rustic elegant, with its exotic slab wood dinning table, wine bar, sky light above the crystal chandelier, and original 1917 built-ins. In the kitchen you will find a hammered copper sink, chiseled edge granite counters, chandelier and high-end stainless steel appliances. Our over-sized original bay window overlooks a beautiful flowering vine just outside. In this area you may enjoy morning coffee or tea. Each bedroom is tastefully decorated with original pieces of art work and furnished in beautiful antiques. Comfortable full sized beds with 'pillow top' mattresses , cozy pillows and linens. WiFi & central air condition throughout. Our award winning master bath is filled with custom stone, cabinets and lighting. While the central bathroom has another bay window overlooking the back garden area with plenty of counter space.
Mission Hills is just above old town where you can walk to many shops, restaurants, trolley station, or catch the old time trolley car for a tour. A step out the front door is a lesson in history; a variety of historical homes built by craftsman long ago. At night you can walk to Presidio Park and view the Sea World fire works show. The oversized front porch with cozy chairs is a great location for morning coffee or evening wine while surrounded by roses. The location does not get any better than this. We are located on a quiet street with ample parking. Whether you are here to work or play, enjoy your stay!

*Because of the handmade wool rugs and newly finished wood floors, regrettably, there are no pets allowed. We ask that you please remove your shoes.

* please note the backyard is shared with the private studio cottage rental. if it's not booked then it could be available to your party upon request.

Charming, Delightful, Restful Retreat

The bungalow is a beautiful historic home that has been well preserved. Well appointed, it has a lovely flow to it. It's private and quiet. The neighborhood is wonderful for walking and bike riding as it's filled with homes with interesting architecture and landscaping. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking. You may want to bring a portable music speaker as there is no audio device.

Beautiful Home - Great Area!

We can’t say enough good things about Kristi’s home. If you are considering booking, don’t hesitate. The home is located in a great area of San Diego. The neighborhood is upscale, beautiful and very safe. In addition it is extremely convenient to get anywhere you need to go from shopping, dining, sight seeing, the airport, etc. For the majority of our two week visit we used Lyft/Uber. During the second week we rented a car and there was parking in the driveway and plenty of safe and secure street parking. The neighbors in the area were very nice and friendly. We felt right at home and did not want to leave. The home is a beautiful, well cared for property with everything you need to feel right at home. The only improvement I might mention is for some more prompt communication. Although it was sufficient there were some time when we had to wait for replies and had the wrong contact information initially. This did not hamper our experience and was justified seeing Kristi was in Alaska. Overall this was a 5 + star experience and working with Kristi and Lachlan was great. When our travels bring us back to San Diego we will inquire with Kristi first before looking elsewhere. Don’t hesitate… Book!

A cozy home base for your stay in San Diego

This lovely home was a terrific place to stay. We were warmly greeted by Roslyn who gave us great input about the area that really helped us during our time in San Diego. The home is well maintained and has very nice outdoor seating arrangements. The bedrooms are quite comfortable and of a good size. It is pleasantly situated in a good neighborhood, and is within easy distance of restaurants should you choose to dine out. We were out for a graduation with other family members and all of us enjoyed our time immensely. This home made for a great place to really relax and enjoy one another in a far more cozy environment than a hotel.

I originally purchased this home when my youngest son was a baby. It was a fixer-upper, and I did a great deal of the restoration myself, inside and out, including the landscaping. As a single mother, I brought up my two boys here. Now that they are in college, I spend more of my time in Alaska, where I was born and raised. I'm a commercial fisherman and a self-taught, self-supporting artist. My winters are spent sculpting in my Alaska studio, summers spent commercial fishing for salmon and halibut. This is a historically designated house with an amazing art collection and gorgeous antique furniture. I won a design award for the master bathroom. This home was constructed in 1917 from old growth timber. The detail in the craftsmanship are unmatched. This house is a extremely quiet place to spend time because of its lath and plaster walls and quiet streets.
This private oasis is just three turns from either I-8 & I-5. It is also minutes from beaches, Sea World, Downtown, Old Town, Balboa Park, and the San Diego Zoo.

The Mission Hills neighborhood is full of historic charm. With a deli & wine room, boutiques, yoga studios, coffee shops, delicious restaurants, and two historical parks (Presidio & Pioneer), you may never want to leave our friendly uptown district during your visit to San Diego. If you ever get a chance to go on the Mission Hills Historical Home Tour I highly recommend it! In the back of the property is a old growth Italian Stone Pine that will surly remind you of the Swiss Family Robison's!
