About David Blumin
Karen and David arrived here from California in the summer of 1982 aboard their 44' Pembo trawler 'Pilgrim' and settled down in the small original log cabin where they were married the next spring next to their model 1015 Wurlitzer jukebox which played "Big Bopper's Wedding." Thus explaining the photo . The log cabin eventually morphed into the "Log Castle" over the next 30 years ... the result of David's passion and vision aided by many talented and sometimes gifted local builders, architects, tradesmen furniture makers, shipwrights, artists ... all who gave their best efforts and ideas into the seemingly endless project.

Why David Blumin chose East Boothbay
This residence is like a rare a jewel. It is interesting and inique with hidden surprises like hidden closets and secret rooms, many levels with nooks and crannies, yet has the ambiance of serenity and balance. It has every amenity one would expect in a vacation rental on the coast of Maine except a swimming pool or hot tub. New 4,000SF irrigated sod lawn installed in the spring of 2016. All carpets were replaced by hardwood flooring in 2016. A/C in the great room as well as a 7 foot grand piano.
What makes this House unique
The gourmet chef will love this kitchen which has a commercial range and oven and every imaginable piece of cooking equipment. There is also a wood-burning stove for simmering stews etc and an outdoor BBQ with rotisserie. The private dock has 7 feet at low water and the float is only two years old; the aluminum runway is new 2015. The moorings have 3200 and 2200 lb granite blocks and the chains are inspected and replaced as needed.

Superb summer escape!
This is a wonderful unique well-built house. Decor and appliances were top-of-the-line and a kitchen equipped for a true chef. The location is terrific for East Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor. And the waterfront setting is picture perfect.
As good as can be!
My family of 8 and 1 dog loved our stay at the log cabin. The house is awesome and the owners are very nice and accommodating. The house has all high end and commercial appliances. The decks were so enjoyable for sunrise coffee while watching the lobster fisherman check their traps just off the dock. The Booth bay region is very scenic and the town has many quaint shops and very good restaurants. I would definitely recommend renting this property, you will be glad you did.
Super house in a great location!
The Log Castle was an awesome house. The kitchen was well stocked and the rooms clean and neat. Loved spending time on the dock enjoying the sun, views and a bit of swimming although the water was FREEZING! Location was convenient to groceries at Hannafords, movie theater, hiking trails offered by the Land Trust, the local gym for our sons but peaceful and quiet on our street with friendly neighbors (especially when our dog escaped for a short visit!).
A great family retreat
Incredible property, great location with a chef’s kitchen that made it a pleasure to cook for the family. One of the most relaxing vacations we ever had. Plenty of wildlife that embraces you in the moment. Highly recommended.
Thank you for taking the time to write your comments. The pleasurable vacation you and your family enjoyed at "the Log Castle" gives us great satisfaction.

Magical Rambling Retreat on the Water
As great as the pictures are online, they don’t adequately do justice to the beauty of this place! Upon arrival, we fell in love with the property. The views are stunning from every room in the house and the setting felt like a private retreat. Our family of seven—4 adults and 3 teen boys (plus family German Shepherd)—all had a wonderful time, with more than enough space to spread out, never feeling like we were in each other’s way. The impeccable design and love that went into building this dream home is evident in every detail. In fact, each day we were enamored with something new. The house is very well-equipped and the beds were all very comfortable. One of my favorite spots in the house that I would have spent more time in had we not had perfect weather was the sunroom (even comes with heated floors). Instead, we enjoyed hours on the endless decks, all adorned with fantastic flowers and herbs. We took in Great Blue Heron and seal views right in front of the house each day while looking forward to stargazing every night from the master bedroom deck. The boys (and I) went fishing off the private dock at least once a day and caught catfish, cod and mackerel…even cooking a few in the chef’s dream kitchen—with Wolf range commercial stove no less!
The quaint shops and beauty found in Boothbay Harbor is just a 5 minute drive away where you can take in this picturesque coastal community— ‘magnet’ for fishing and sailing. We recommend the famous Cabbage Island clambake that includes boat tour and feast on the island, leaving from Pier 6 in town. It was a wonderful opportunity to see the beautiful islands and lighthouses that make up Mid-Coast Maine, then end the adventure with an island feast of lobsters, steamers and more.
While there are many great spots for dining, our favorite thing to do was utilize the fully-equipped dream kitchen or grill on back patio—for memorable meals together either on the dining room table that was big enough to seat 15 adults or outside on the decks in the afternoon.
We highly recommend this house to anyone seeking rest and relaxation in a beautiful setting. I can’t say enough about David and Karen's hospitality. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to chat with them, tour the property together and learn more about the history and love that went into making this home.
My only regret is that our week went by far too quickly.
Thank you for sharing your home with us...we look forward to returning soon!
We enjoyed meeting you all, and so happy you enjoyed your stay at our home. We take no responsibility for the good weather. Thank you for the gracious comments.
Very beautiful and relaxing - excellent hosts!!
We enjoyed the Blumin's hospitality, and loved the log castle. The river views, especially at sunrise, were amazing. The flowers and grounds were beautifully kept, and we spent as much time as we could outdoors. The log walls and ceilings are impressive throughout.
Highly recommended for a private getaway... Thank You!
PS-- East Boothbay General Store is right down the street and has exceptional sandwiches.
Thank you for your gracious comments. We hope to meet again.

At the end of a private road; very private. Less than a quarter mile walk to the quaint village of East Boothbay. Three miles to downtown Boothbay Harbor.
