Map
The Dordogne is renowned for its wine, climate and history. Villefranche de Lonchat is ideally situated to sample them all. The weather is probably the best in France with well over 1000 hours of sunshine every year. Summers are hot but not excessively so. Spring and autumn are also good times to visit. Even the winter months can offer sunshine and clear skies. Villefranche de Lonchat lies between the river l'isle to the north and the Dordogne to the south. Canoes and boats can be hired on both. Fishing is popular. Two minutes from the house is Lac de Gurcon, which offers boating, fishing, swimming, windsurfing, horse riding and tennis. There are also 5 inexpensive bar/restaurants and the large sandy beach has two snack bars and water chute. Golf at the famous Chateau de Vigier is 30km away. The nearest town is Montpon(10 miins) The world famous medieval town and wine centre of St Emilion, with its many gastronomic restaurants is only 10 mins away. St Foy, and Castillion are close by
Other Activities: Wine tasting
