Modern bungalow, satellite TV, broadband internet, 2 ensuite bedrooms, dishwasher, w/machine and dryer, spacious garden, situated beside a farm with horses, goats, cows and farm fowl. 2 minute drive from famous Lahich beach and golf courses. Pitch & Putt, horse riding and water sports available locally. Wonderful seafood restaurants within easy reach. World-famous limestone region of the Burren just 10 minutes by car, also Cliffs of Moher a mere 4 miles away. Ideal countryside for hiking, cycling, nature walks or painting. Enjoy a pint while listening to traditional Irish music in any one of a dozen well-run pubs in Lahinch, Liscannor, Fanore or Ballyvaughan. Rent a boat in Liscannor for some sea-fishing off the Aran Islands.
We do not rent between November and April as we use the house ourselves at week-ends and holiday periods
We stayed a second time at this wonderful place in late May 2017. It's hard to imagine a setting more idyllic and serene, yet close to such amazing places like the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, and the pub/music scene in Doolin. The house itself is clean, comfortable and has everything you need. Jim and Marie are very responsive to any requests/needs. Once again, highly recommended!
We spent the first 3 weeks of June (2015 actually) in this cottage and it was everything we wanted it to be. Just perfect for us, our two kids under 10, and 2 separate grandparents (who visited at different times). The cottage is excellently equipped for meals, it was great to have 3 bathrooms (including one attached to the kids bedroom for ease of use at night), and the kids had so much fun in the yard and walking down the lane to survey the various farms. We met some very nice neighbors. The views are gorgeous. And it really is a 5-10 minute drive to the beach, to downtown Lahinch, and not much further to other great little towns, and 30 to 60 minutes to so many cool places in Clare. My only criticism: the fire is the chief source of heat on the main floor, and when we were there the weather was very cold the first week (typical Irish winter cold). That fire was not enough to warm the back bedroom. And the people staying in it were from New England, so they're cold resistant. When the weather was warmer, it was fine. The most telling thing for us is that the kids love looking at pictures of the cottage online because they have such great memories. They keep asking to go back—not just to Ireland, but to this specific cottage. That's saying something.
If you are looking for a mansion or an Irish castle this isn't it. If you are looking for an attractive, roomy, three bedroom, three bath cottage with a great location to explore County Clare and the Atlantic coast, you may have just found it. I am an active senior citizen who just spent the week at Suaimhneas with three adult children. Everything we needed for a pleasant and comfortable base of travel was there. Whether we were going to a major attraction, driving up to Galway, or just taking a walk up the road, we knew we had a comfortable, well furnished home to come back to later. If I return to County Clare some day, this will be the first place that I look for when I begin planning.
We could not be more pleased with our Holiday at Suaimhneas! The cottage was quite roomy and 100% charming! It is perfectly situated between Lahinch and Liscannor for daily activities and more importantly it is the absolute best launch station for adventures across Counties Clare, Kerry, Galway, and Mayo. We saw it all!!
Suaimhneas was the center of the most wonderful experience for me and my family!!! It will long be a powerful emotional memory for us all.
The owner, Jim, was very engaged and responsive to our needs. I can not think of a single reason that I wouldn't rent Suaimhneas again!
Thank you Jim for sharing your house with us!
I picked this cottage randomly and it was one of the best decisions I've made! My relative lives in close proximity to the cottage so it worked perfectly! The place is clean and cozy with excellent views of the countryside. Jim the owner is very nice and helpful. The overall experience was fantastic and would recommend this place to anyone looking to getaway. I will be back as soon as possible as I miss the cottage and the country! Thanks again Jim for everything!!!
one of the best houses we ever stayed in. great view, great interior, quiet & a perfect starting point for our quests for prehistoric monuments, cliffs and trips in county clare; in just four weeks it became a beloved home.
we had a terrific time and would highly recommend it.
From Limerick or Shannon Airport, take the M18 to Ennis, then the N85 NW to Lahinch. At lahinch, turn right for Liscannor. Drive past the golf course, over the bridge, swing left and take the right turn approx. 250 mtrs after the bridge. After 200 mtrs this road swings right, with a minor road left, up the hill. Take the minor road, up the hill and the house is about 800 mtrs up, a white house on the left.
Other Activities: Pitch & Putt
