We absolutely LOVED staying in the Yurt. We did rent a 4wd, so we came up and then down the mountain to their property. The drive really isn't horrible as I had expected based on other reviews. Yes, it is slow going and curvy, but it was actually fun and if you've ever been on gravel roads in the mountains, you can do it! It's worth the experience. We loved the river setting and being able to explore the grounds and river. Kris & Mike were very accommodating, easy to contact and kind. The Smith River is just unbelievably beautiful, as is their property. We did venture out a couple of days to go to the Redwoods, which are just not even describable. The Yurt was very clean and clearly sanitized prior to our arrival. We just have nothing at all negative to say about our trip, the stay, the hosts or the property. We enjoyed every minute. Thank you for having us and for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful piece of heaven.
Charming Place! Highly Recommended!
The yurt was cozy, clean and fit six of us very comfortably. The communication with the host is clear and timely. There is one bedroom, one sofa bed and one bunker bed to fit six people. We love that our dogs can stay in as well. I recommend parking by the bridge and walk to the yurt. It's about 5-10 minutes walk. But driving through the gravy road can take you 20-30 minutes.
Yurt was exactly as promised, the bridge was fun!
Such a beautiful property... Jacuzzi on the front porch, full kitchen, hardwood floors and indoor plumbing... The Yurt has everything that ever kept your loved one from going camping. The internet is minimal but still usable to keep up with social media and email and even internet phone calls (if you can handle the 4 second delay). It was a perfect way for us to unplug for the better part of a week. Lots of hiking just minutes away. The biggest plus for us was there was no size restriction for our 90 lb Anatolian mix. Be sure to have your pup treated for ticks before you come. There's a mini-market just a few minutes away if you park on the other side of the river but it's 20 minutes to get there if you decided to drive in (4x4 or all wheel needed). One way the the supermarket in Crescent City was 45 minutes so stock up before you come.
Communication with Kris, our host, was always immediate.
Great glamping experience!
The pictures of this property accurately depict your lodging. We had a great stay here, but would like to point out a few things to others wanting to rent. One, while you are not bothered at all, there are other people on this property. The owners live on the property and have two other rentals on the property. Having said that, the property is 13 acres, you can't see any of the other properties, and no one bothered us. The owners were nearby if we needed anything and gave a helpful tip to walk a beautiful trail on their property. Second, I would NOT recommend driving the gravel road down, especially in the dark, even with a four wheel or all wheel drive vehicle. It adds an extra 20 minutes to your travels and is a very winding, hairpin turns, gravel road. Also, while you are next to a fast moving river and can hear it at night, which is wonderful, you can still hear noise from the main road. Lastly, the only other thing we noticed was that the pictures show a fire pit by the river, but we think that's been moved because when we asked, we were told it was in front of the other rentals. Overall, this was a great place to stay! They have all the amenities you can think of, the hot tub was wonderful, and the scenery can't be beat!! Awesome place!
Volleyball, firepit on the river bring marshmellows!
