Pelican Peak Villa, Panoramic Island Views, Only minutes to the best Beaches.

Bedrooms 3
Property type villa
Minimum Stay 5 - 7 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 bad-rooms; property consists of a main house and a guest house.

Keywords: West-End, Spectacular Views, Close to Beaches, Sunsets, Privacy, Surfing, Suitable for Children, Big Pool.

This comfortable home is named 'Pelican Peak' and it is has been our family dream home for many years.

A five-minute rural winding road with some radical switchbacks brings you up to the house, situated on the top of a mountain overlooking Little Apple Bay at the western part of the small island of Tortola.

The property consists of two houses; the main house and a guest house. Together they can accommodate six adults and including children a total of 8 people.

The house is equipped with every amenity you need to make your stay perfect. The land covers one acre and will guarantee you privacy and peace.

There is a beautiful big pool (22ftX15ft) to cool you during the daytime or in the evening under the stars.

The property is fenced, and there is a gate that leads to a gravel driveway covered on one side in bougainvillea where you without difficulty can park three cars.

The garden around the villa is beautifully landscaped; you will find all sorts of lovely Caribbean flowers and fruit like bananas, limes, star fruit, sugar apples, and pineapples.

The house is only suitable for children from 6 years and older that can swim; in the guest house is a bunk bed for children and upstairs in the main house is a lovely bedroom. Around the house is plenty of grass, space and shade.

We have two very sweet house cats named Habibi and Lucy, who live outside. They are our two full-time staff members who are there to keep mouse etc. far away from our lovely home.

Villa Layout:

The main villa has two bedrooms; a master bedroom with a king bed downstairs and a second big bedroom with two queen beds upstairs.

The master bedroom has an attached outside bathroom with impressive views of many surrounding islands and the azure Caribbean waters.

An authentic spiral staircase leads up to the second bedroom which has a dark wooden floor, high ceiling and is attractively decorated. The views from this bedroom are stunning, overlooking the Jost Van Dyke channel, which is dotted with small islands such as Green Cay, Sandy Spit, and Sandy Cay. Note: The bathroom for this bedroom is at the bottom of the stairs.

All bedrooms have air conditioning which is much appreciated in summer months. The living room and kitchen are fully open (but screened) to the veranda, usually cooled by a lovely trade wind.

The master bedroom and the living room/open kitchen have large wooden doors that open up the whole wall onto a verandah where you find a second living area with a dining table that seats up to eight people and a relaxing sitting area.

Because most of the living room/kitchen is open to the deck, the verandah, and main house feel like one space.

The guest house is separated from the main house by a swimming pool and lawn. The guest house can sleep, four people. There is a king bed and bunk beds. The bunk beds are not in a separate room but in a divided area, so we would suggest these beds are only used for children. Also, the guest house has large wooden doors that open completely from floor to the ceiling, so while reading a book on the king bed, you enjoy the beautiful sunsets that you can expect to see here every day.

From anywhere within the main villa, the guest house, outside on the deck, swimming in the pool, relaxing on the daybed or sitting elsewhere in the garden you will be able to see far and wide across the Caribbean sea while you are listening to the waves breaking on Little Apple Bay’s beach.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the house so please email us.

About Willem Kerkvliet

My name is Willem Kerkvliet, born in The Netherlands I’m 44 years old. With our family, we lived for many years on the beautiful island Tortola. Every time we visit Tortola we fully enjoin the island life, we wake up early and on the weekend, we go out to explore beaches or visit the many different surrounding islands.

Willem Kerkvliet purchased this villa in 2006

Why Willem Kerkvliet chose Tortola

Seeing the views from this home was enough to fall in love head over heels. The views are stunning and changing every moment of the day. Many years we have been working on this home to make it just right. Now this home has been our gingerbread Caribbean family dream home for many years.

What makes this villa unique

We are confident that when you are staying in our family home you will fall in love with the house as we did. When you sit back with a drink, relax on the spacious deck, cook a meal in the kitchen, relax with a book in the hammock or just take a cooling dip in the pool, you will feel there is no better place to be.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just got back from an 8 day stay at the Pelican Peak. Wife & I were celebrating our 25th anniversary. Everything was great! Communication with the owner (Willem) & the property manager (Lynn) was excellent & they were so helpful. We rented a jeep for the week & I highly recommend that. For us, it was a 6 minute trip up the hill from Ben's market & 6 minutes down the hill. We cooked in the kitchen almost every night & had a great time doing that. We connected my smartphone via Google Music to their Bose Bluetooth speaker & enjoyed great music while we were in the pool or cooking. I used the grill a couple of nights & that went really well. We watched movies using their Netflix account most nights. We stayed busy island hopping & beach hopping thru most days & then enjoyed the privacy of the house in the evenings. The outdoor shower was super awesome! Something about a hot shower with that breeze off the ocean.... Plus the view! The view(s) are simply incredible! We enjoyed most of our meals on the veranda looking out toward Jost Van Dyke. After spending loads of time looking at lots of properties & actually contacting about half a dozen of them, we were extremely pleased with our choice.

Perfect Honeymoon Stay

  • 5 of 5

Pelican Peak was the perfect stay for our honeymoon! Besides having an amazing view, the rooms were beautiful and the property was immaculate. Willem was on email to answer any questions we had before we arrived. Once we did arrive we were greeted by Lynn the property manager who was such a wonderful help. She pointed out places to eat, and islands to visit. When we got to the home there were plenty of books about the island, a book they made on there own for guests that was a HUGE help. It pointed out hidden beaches, and other places to go. There was plenty of bug spray and sunscreen, along with beach chairs and snorkeling gear. It was perfect. My husband and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and adventurous vacation. We will definitely be returning!

Perfect Spot!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our vacation at Pelican Peak was one the best we've had so far. The property was in great shape, better than the pictures. Beautiful views and sunset, while relaxing after the beach in the pool! The owners were really easy to contact and helped us plan the trip with all the tips they gave us before our arrival. The property manager Lynn was very helpful, always on call and gave us good tips also. The west end of Tortola is a really nice area to stay given the proximity to soppers hole, ferry to Just Van Dyke (a must),local market, Pusser’s (among other things), Cane Garden bay (incredible beach, nice vibes and beach bars), Long Bay resort, among other really nice beaches and areas. We did a boat charter with Virgin Escape that we definitely recommend, Captain Don took care of us all the way. We stayed at the end of May, nice weather and good water temperature. Definitely will repeat our stay at the best spot in Tortola!

Book this house!! We couldn't have asked for a better home base while exploring the BVI's. The view is spectacular, the home is beautiful, pool is amazing and the experience was so easy. Lynn and Willem answered all our questions in a very timely manner. They have great suggestions on places to go and things to do. We did a day at Vigin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke. I recommend going to all. Each island had it's own unique experience. We spent two days on Tortola exploring all the hidden beaches...must do! The only bad think I could say about the trip were the mosquitoes, but you're in the islands, what do you expect. Bring bug spray. Also, check ferry schedules as they can cancel without notice. Thanks to Willem and Lynn for a great experience in the BVI's!!

Just spent a week at Pelican Peak. I can't say enough about the home. It is very comfortable and has the most beautiful views. The property manager made everything very simple and Willem was so easy to work with. Can't wait to come back.

Breathtaking views and perfect for a family!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect get away and stay for our family. The size was just right for 4-6 and we ended up staying around the house more than we thought just because how much we enjoyed it there. We can not wait to come back and rent again from William and his family.
