The Space:
Situated on a scenic farm and surrounded by mountain views, our well-thought out, modern and functional log chalet accommodates up to eight guests and offers every amenity you require throughout your stay. It was built and designed with quality and functionality in mind, from construction to superior furnishing.

Both quiet and private, the solar- heated and fully-furnished chalet features a top floor with 2 bedrooms (sleeps 4), bathroom with shower, and a thoughtfully-stocked kitchen complete with dishwasher and microwave. There is a cozy wood-burning fireplace, access to laundry facilities, DVD and TV, and a wrap-around sun deck with a majestic mountain view.

The ground-floor has 2 additional bedrooms (one with 2 twin beds and the other a large room with a queen bed), dining area, additional microwave and toaster oven, as well as one bathroom with a tub and direct access to the laundry facilities.

If you are looking to combine business and pleasure, or work from a place that inspires creativity, our Chalet checks all the boxes. Access Wi-Fi and connect to the world, while enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. Go for a walk before your meeting. Do yoga on the deck before tackling that deadline. Grab a glass of wine, take in the Kootenay scenery, and catch up on your emails. Write. Create. Innovate -- then go explore the farm.
Feel some dirt. Smell the grass. Listen to the birds.

The Location:
Bolter Farm & Chalet offers year-round accommodation in the heart of the Kootenays, an area celebrated for its four distinct seasons, each of which bring unique world-class recreational opportunities to our doorstep -- from the epic slopes of Fernie Alpine Resort to renowned golf courses of all sizes and styles.

Family Getaway
We had a wonderful time at the chalet! Astrid and Mathias were attentive hosts, and such a nice touch with the farm welcome package. The chalet was well stocked and having the seperate living space for additional people in the basement suite worked great with our group. The wrap around deck was lovely for relaxing in the shade in the afternoon and sharing an evening overlooking the forest and watching the sunset. Ample parks and beaches to enjoy within a 10 min drive and the farmers market on Saturday was a treat. We would love to stay again!

Our stay in Jaffray
The cabin is clean, looks new and very well built. During our stay a few days the weather was hot but inside the cabin it was nice and cool. During the night the temperature dropped but inside it stayed warm and cozy. It has everything you need for stay and the large patio allowed us to watch sunsets while BBQ was grilling. Our hosts are very accommodating and responsive. Overall, we loved the place and definitely will come back again while in Kootenays.

Lovely stay
The home had all we needed, was comfortable and welcoming. Loved the welcome package and other meat we purchased. Only disappointment was that there was no longer public access to the lake within walking distance, otherwise a lovely stay.

Feedback
Our stay was excellent, both the property and the accommodations exceeded our expectations. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted, we were provided with a dozen farm fresh eggs. The pantry was stocked with all the essentials in case we forgot something. We would highly recommend this property to any of our family and friends.

About the host

Hosted by Astrid & Mathias Bolter

Host profile image
Your hosts, Astrid and Mathias, have extensive experience in the hospitality industry and a strong background in hotel management. Before relocating to Canada from Europe almost 20 years ago, they managed a chain of luxury hotels in Europe in the family of Relais & Châteaux. Both have a degree in hotel management and tourism. Their history in high-end hospitality inspires them to deliver a unique and enjoyable accommodation experience for those seeking a Kootenay getaway.

Why they chose this property

Bolter Farm & Chalet offers year-round accommodation in the heart of the Kootenays, an area celebrated for its four distinct seasons, each of which bring unique world-class recreational opportunities to our doorstep -- from world-class ski resorts (Fernie Alpine Resort) to renowned golf courses of all sizes and styles.

For guests staying a minimum of three nights we offer a welcome package of farm fresh eggs, locally home-made bread, organic butter and milk.

Guests also have the option of Pre-ordering meat for your stay. Enjoy naturally grown pork, chicken or beef born, raised and produced on our family farm.

Bolter Farm & Chalet is proud to be able to offer our neighbours, friends, restaurants and community an opportunity to buy local and eat well. We believe in transparency around the way food is grown and treated. We work the land and raise the animals ourselves. We know their history. We know the environment in which they’re naturally raised, and the challenges and the rewards of doing it the right way.

We are a first-generation farm, farming for future generations.

What makes this property unique

We are a convenient 30-minute drive (often light on traffic and heavy on scenery) to FERNIE ALPINE RESORT, known for its abundance of snow and legendary skiing and snowboarding terrain. Ski season often stretches into April.
The Trans Canada Biking Trail , only minutes from the Chalet, is just one example of the vast networks of hiking and biking trails found throughout the area. The nearby Elk Valley, Bull and Wigwam Rivers are a world-class fly-fishing mecca, while Lake Koocanusa, a short 10-minute walk from our chalet, offers some of the best swimming, fishing, boating and summer-time recreation to be found.
And if you’re into quiet mountain lakes, we can point you in that direction too. Suzanne Lake and Northstar Lake Recreation Sites are a short 15-minute drive away and offer great fishing, picnicking and swimming. While nearby Rosen Lake and Tie Lake are fun for boating! The Kootenays are also a premier destination for canoeing and kayaking, whether you’re looking for calm waters or roaring rapids.

Fall is one of the most beautiful times to vacation in the Kootenays. Colours come alive as birch trees turn gold, and hiking and biking is at its best. Cool crisp mornings greet sunny afternoons, and the hustle and bustle of summer has faded into a more relaxed pace. This is the season for good books, long walks, crowd-free fishing, and campfires.

It’s a perfect place to take the wife, the family, or escape with the guys. We welcome responsible use of all-terrain vehicles, which can be driven from the back-country directly to and from the chalet. You'll love it here.
