Additional nearby outdoor recreation includes the mountain bike and hiking trails at Shaw Outdoor Center on Paine Mountain, starting out in downtown Northfield about 7 minutes away.

For the food lovers, our farmstand is stocked with high quality, organic meats from animals raised humanely and on pasture along with some produce, prepared foods and fruits.
And of course for the beer & coffee lovers, Northfield is home to Good Measure Pub & Brewery, https://www.goodmeasurebrewing.com/, deemed by many to be producing some of the best beer in the state. New Years Family & Friends Stay
Our family of 4 had a great stay (5 nights) at the Green Mountain Girls Farm over New Years. We were able to stretch out by the amazing masonry fireplace on the main floor while enjoying the views of the farm & mountains yonder, while cooking up delicious meals in the fully stocked kitchen & outdoor grill. We loved feeding the pigs & chickens scraps and seeing the sheep, and taking walks around the farm. The only drawback was that the dirt road the house is on was severely rutted due to unprecedented heavy rains in the days before we arrived, which made getting in and out treacherous. Our hosts Laura & Mari were very accommodating though, assisting us with finding an alternative route, which we were very thankful for. Would definitely recommend this place for a fun & luxurious stay with family & friends, just be sure to check the road conditions & drive an appropriate vehicle.

Fabulous Farm Stay with Family
Staying at the GMG Farm was an absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end. The home and surrounding farm are gorgeous. The home is well appointed with a fully stocked kitchen, plenty of comfortable beds and bedrooms. It is spacious and cozy, complete with double-sided fire place central to the family room and kitchen. We explored the surrounding towns which were quaint and cute, skied at a nearby mountain, visited a sugar shack, and hiked a few trails lined with clear blue streams and waterfalls. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming. Our family enjoyed touring the farm and meeting the sheep, pigs, farm dog and cat. We purchased meats from the farm store and prepared them one of the evenings for a delicious family meal. We were welcomed with complimentary homemade applesauce, loose tea, and pickles! We could not have asked for a more lovely experience.

Mari Omland & Laura Olsen own and run Green Mountain Girls Farm. In the heart of Central Vermont, Green Mountain Girls Farm is a family farm steeped in the rich culture of Vermont’s working landscape. Our farm is situated high in the Green Mountains at the top of the watershed. We grow food in ways that capture the greatest potential of the sun, rain and natural systems, while enhancing food quality, plant health, soil life and ecosystem services.

We offer clean, delicious, nutrient dense food and farm stays for individuals and families prioritizing wellness and who want their food and tourism choices to support social and ecological health. Together, through regenerative agriculture, we can restore balance and connection and hope to influence larger systemic change, because how farmers farm and eaters eat matters.

House is on a working farm with a robust farmstand full of organic, pasture-raised meats, produce and value added products raised and produced on the farm.
