About Sandra Guzas
My husband and I grew up in Worcester, MA and lived most of our lives in the Massachusetts area. When our children 'flew the nest' we decided to move to New Hampshire, which is where we currently reside. We have always wanted a home in Maine.
Sandra Guzas purchased this House in 2006
Why Sandra Guzas chose Bristol
We found this wonderful property in Bristol many years ago and were finally able to build our dream home as well as a comfortable smaller version for our children to use. We decided to open up our lovely smaller property to renters who could enjoy the peace and serenity of the area as well as the many activities available in the spring, summer and fall.
What makes this House unique

Well stocked, beautiful cabin. Lots of windows to see the surrounding forest!
We had a restful, lovely stay. Wonderful location in the middle of the woods but easy to get to and close to sweet Maine towns and lots of coasts and hiking. The cabin itself is very clean and cozy with everything you might need. We stayed in the winter and went to the Gardens Aglow light display at the Maine Botanical Gardens and I highly recommend checking it out if you stay during the winter. The gas fireplace kept us nice and warm and all of the windows allow to see the forests surrounding the cabin. My only recommendation would be to maybe put a dining table in front of the fireplace for playing games or dining. The owners were easy to communicate with and helpful.
I'm happy that the cabin worked out well for you. I will think about your recommendation and see if a table would work out near the fireplace Instead of in its current location. I hope you will consider our cabin again on a future trip to Maine.
Sweet Cottage in the Forest
We thoroughly enjoyed our idyll at this peaceful and clean cottage. The first impression is of the beautiful wood structure, the light and airy space, and the whimsical moose motifs. The kitchen is fully and thoughtfully equipped for cooking. The nights are dark and quiet, and we enjoyed hearing the owls hooting nearby.
We really loved our paddling around placid Boyd Pond, and saw a juvenile Bald Eagle taking off from the top of a conifer at the north end of the pond and saw the beaver dam at the south end. We painted watercolors of the rocks at Pemaquid Lighthouse, the docks in New Harbor, and the streetscape in Damariscotta.
The nearby Carpenter's Boat Shop is a wonderful place to visit, and they welcome visitors for teatime on workdays at 10:00. The lobster rolls at the Pemaquid Fisherman's Co-Op were fantastic.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful place!
Another Wonderful Stay
We stayed for a second time at the "Cottage in the Pines", but this time in sunny summer rather than winter. Boyd Pond was gorgeous, teaming with wildlife, perfect for canoeing and swimming.
Sandy and Bob, it was delightful meeting you! Our grandsons renamed your place, "Moose Cottage" as they had such fun counting all the moose motif and naming each moose on the loft stairs!
We are already planning a return visits!
Im happy that you had another great time! I like the name your grandson picked for the cottage. I may be even change it to "Moose Cottage!" It was nice to meet you and your husband and we would love to have you come again.
Clean, comfortable, peaceful, and all the amenities you might need
The house was lovely. It was very clean. The kids loved the loft. Us adults loved how close we were to many of the areas we enjoy visiting like La Verna Preserve, Round Pond Village, Pemaquid, and Damariscotta. We were also impressed by all of the amenities. We never found ourselves wanting something that wasn’t there. We would definitely stay again!
Perfect cottage in a quiet location
We enjoyed our stay in this very cute cabin. Well appointed kitchen - everything a cook might need. Easy access to area activities and sights. Very private, even though other homes were not far away. Great spot!
Private and Peaceful
Our family came back for our second year to this wonderful cottage. It was a perfect quiet and private base to recharge while we explored the penninsula. We made good use of the gas grill and the access to Boyd Pond really makes this property special.
