One of a kind mountain home with 270 degree long range views. This is an amazing custom home with tons of natural wood furniture. But it's the views that are surreal and better than words can describe. Enjoy the amazing views and cool summer nights. Watch the sunrise on the east deck, watch the weather patterns and the fog roll in over Grandfather mountain to the West or watch the sunset over Mount Mitchell (the highest peak east of the Mississippi) on the West Deck. Rock fireplace on the covered deck and two more rock fireplaces inside house. Great views from every room in the house. Located on private 8 acres only 5 minutes from downtown Banner Elk. 2 minutes to the Eldermann wedding barn. If you want to enjoy cool mountain summer breezes then this is the place to get away from it all. House sits at 4700 feet elevation. Typically 5 degrees cooler than downtown Banner Elk. The house is 4400 sq feet of natural wood and rock. When you drive under the massive log structure porte cachere the rock entrance and arched mahogany front door is breathtaking and then you walk in the front door to have your breath taken away again by the views. Large kitchen with granite tops, large island with raised natural wood bar creates a cooking and fellowship delight. Long range views in two directions while sitting at dining room table.
Fantastic two mile walk on gravel road up through the woods behind house. Perfect for a morning walk before Breakfast and coffee on the large deck. Only 5 minutes out of Banner Elk this puts you close to all the amenities of the high country. 30 minutes to Boone, 30 minutes to Blowing Rock and 30 minutes to Grandfather Mountain. Easy parking for multiple cars and a 2 car attached garage. Contact me at dwbrooksii7 and the email address is a g mail account. We have to have a phone conversation before I can approve the booking.
I grew up in NC and have hiked all over the Appalachian mountains. I worked in banking for the largest portion of my professional life and I am now a writer, banking consultant, dog trainer, college teacher, and hiker. I graduated from Appalachian State University both undergrad and graduate school and have always loved the mountains.
I hiked on this property 30 years ago and was amazed by the view. The view is truly unique and my dream of having a home here has come true. I hope you will enjoy this truly remarkable property as much as I do. The property to the West is in a land trust and will never be developed. Sitting on this deck with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee will create an inner peace and make memories of a life time.
Very Private yet only 5 minutes from downtown Banner Elk.
Views that words can't describe. You have to experience this magical place to appreciate it.
Bathrooms for everyone. Beds for everyone. Three rock fireplaces. My favorite spot is on the deck looking east, with a cup of coffee, as the sun rises over the mountains and burns the fog off of the valleys. Pictures just can't capture this.
We loved everything about this property. Beautifully done, inside and out. We had an amazing long weekend at Elk's Peak, and would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Every morning on the deck, coffee in hand, watching the sunrise....Amazing!!!
If you are looking for a place in the Avery/Watauga County area, you're already sold on everything the mountains have to offer, so I'll just comment on this property. It is quintessential Appalachian mountain luxury. Easy access, great parking, million dollar views, beautiful furnishings, comfortable mattresses, several spacious gathering areas, and a well-equipped kitchen. The crowning jewel for us was the outdoor room complete with fireplace. It is where we spent the majority of our time. The owner was very accommodating and everything was exactly as represented, if not better.
We are a three generation family of 8, ranging in ages from 20 to 69. Everyone enjoyed not having wifi. We played board games and laughed until we cried. We watched movies together in the theatre room (there is a huge selection from which to choose). And as the family chef, I loved having everyone close by as I prepared meals that we enjoyed at the phenomenal dining room table. We drink a lot of coffee, and knowing there was only a Keurig, we took our own coffee maker. I loved rising before everyone else, grabbing a sweater and a cup of coffee and heading out to the deck for my morning devotion.
And then there are the views ... oh my ... the views.
I happened upon this house when our family was looking for a place to rent that was close to hiking, watering holes and whitewater rafting spots, and Elks Peak seemed like a great place to relax after a full day. However, once we got to the house, it was really difficult to convince ourselves to leave! The location is just perfect. You can see for miles, and it is mesmerizing sitting outside watching the clouds softy creeping over the mountains, the sun slowly sinking behind and the sky turning the most amazing colors, then little clusters of lights winking on through the valley. The house itself is beautiful, especially the kitchen, and feels very open. We enjoyed the pool table and hot tub but didn't use the theater room, although it looked like a great spot to spend a quiet rainy day.
There is even a small herd of cows who kept us company every day, munching on grass along the hillside beside the house. It was really cool to sit by the fire outside on the deck and see the cows silhouetted in the dusk on the hill, with the stars in the background. Perfect!
About the only thing I could suggest for the house would be hammocks for the deck! Our family had a fantastic stay and we appreciate David sharing the house with us for a few days.
Great weather. Awesome outdoor fireplace area. Fantastic views in every direction. Most people are hiking two hours to have the view you enjoy from three directions. Beds comfortable. Great movie room for the kids. Makes you want to live there
My husband and I, along with four other friends, just recently vacationed here and had an incredible time! I've sold NC mountain property for over ten years, and the views are some of the BEST I've ever seen! The house was very clean and super convenient to town! 5 stars all the way!!!
Backroad to Eldermann wedding Barn. Only 2 minutes.
