We are excited to announce that our property was given The Ashland Historic Preservation Award in 2014.

This luxury vacation property is uniquely designed for elegance and comfort that will make you feel right at home. This newly renovated craftsman can be rented as a 3 bedroom 2 bath home or split into two connecting apartments with kitchens, dining areas and living rooms. You can stay at home and entertain or walk a block to the heart of Ashland's shopping and theatre district to dine in its finest restaurants, bars and cafes, enjoy the best of the arts or take a walk in beautiful Lithia Park.

OBERON

This lovely 550 sq ft apartment will make you feel cozy and right at home with a kitchenette, cork floors, stainless steel appliances, a coffee maker, and full cooking and eating utensils.

As you wake up in your 1,000 count organic bamboo cotton sheets covered in down pillows and blankets, you look out into the crystal zen flower and vegetable gardens. The bathroom has a rainwater shower, granite counter tops and tile floors with organic lotion, shampoo, conditioner and soaps.

The living room, which can easily converted into a second bedroom, has a daybed that folds into a queen, down comforter and pillows, 1000 thread count organic bamboo sheets, a 32 inch flat screen t.v., bose sound system, a dining area to seat 2 and a view out into the zen gardens, the mountains and downtown Ashland.

Oberon is meant for 2, but can sleep up to 3 people.

** Adjoining properties can become a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home that sleeps 6. Summer rate is $425 a night with a 2 night minimum and $2,800 a week. This beautiful 900 sq. ft. apartment offers a full state of the art kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, cork floors, an espresso machine, juicer, full eating and cooking utensils, 6 burner stove top and oven, dishwasher and dining area with a table that folds out to seat 6.

The living room will make you feel right at home with books, games, 42 inch flat screen t.v, Bose sound system, leather couches and views of the mountains and downtown Ashland.

The bedroom suite has a full walk in closet, a bathroom with rainwater shower/bathtub and granite counter tops and a queen-size bed with 1,000 thread count organic bamboo sheets, goose down pillows and comforter, ihome radio/music player and a view of the downtown.

This apartment also has a twin size tempurpedic rollaway bed and can sleep 3.

About Antea Rood

My father and I are avid travelers, athletes and adventurers whose love for the outdoors, design work and the arts have landed us in the beautiful town of Ashland. We are originally from the green mountains of Vermont and have both lived all up and down the west coast and Colorado mountains for 12 years until at last, we found a place to call home.

My name is Antea Rood. I have traveled the world for the last 10 years and called 6 places home in the west coast. I live part time in Ashland having a blast managing our luxury properties and playing in the outdoors part time and spend the rest of my time on the beach of Santa Monica where I have a healing practice.

After spending years traveling, studying interior and exterior design, permaculture, organic farming and the healing arts, I knew that I wanted to create a luxurious eco-friendly place where people could escape the stress of everyday life and renew themselves in a beautiful setting while enjoying the performing arts, outdoor adventures, ongoing classes, galleries, healing retreats, wine tasting and all the other magic the mountains, lakes redwoods and ocean that Southern Oregon and Northern California have to offer.

My father, Dudley Rood, is a designer, builder, artist and incredible athlete who loves the mountains and adventures. After building high end homes all over the east coast and Aspen and Vail Colorado he moved here to be in a place that had it all. Dudley passionately fully renovated this 1908 craftsman home to be luxurious and eco-friendly. His attention to details is shown throughout the property and the love for this project is reflected in the space.

We really went all out with this project and are very excited to provide a historic, luxurious accommodation, loaded with amenities, in the heart of Ashland.

Whether you are coming for the Shakespeare festival, performing arts, the galleries, the fine dining, spas, retreats, the vineyards, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, world famous mountain and road biking, boating, kayaking, sailing, white water rafting, world famous fishing or using this as a base to explore Northern California and Southern Oregon - crater lake, Mt. Shasta, Mt. McGloughlan, Oregon caves, redwoods or the wild oregon coast - you will find something everyone will love.

You can either rent one of our 2 apartments for a romantic getaway or a trip with a friend or rent the entire home for the family.

Perfect location, comfy bed, lovely decor, clean and neat, well-accoutered

We stayed for four days here at Oberon, Second Spring. Because the air was so smokey and so hot, we had to stay inside more than normal. Good thing the air-conditioned rooms offered a retreat. Oberon-Second Spring is within walking distance of all theaters, shops and restaurants. The rooms were in superior condition and the kitchen well-stocked. Though there wasn't an oven or stove-top, we didn't find a need for them. A lovely yard comes with the package...and when we were packing to leave, a deer with huge antlers came to visit..to say goodbye. Priceless!

Perfect Ashland House

Oberon is part of a two unit house. Both can be rented together (there is a connecting door) to fit a family or friend group of 5. Oberon is the smaller of the two and can fit 2-3 people. It is perfectly clean, tastefully decorated, and completely comfortable. The owners are communicative and responsive. The property is located in downtown Ashland close to the theater, shops, and restaurants. The co-op is nearby, there is a city bike rental stand around the corner, and Noble Coffee (best ever cool coffee shop) is just 3 blocks from the house.

wonderful house, beautiful garden

Plenty of room for all of us to have privacy and yet be together and close enough to walk to everything. We loved the house and it had everything we needed. The garden was spectacular! Would love to return next year.

Comfortable, clean and convenient

Oberon is a small 1 bedroom apartment on the backside of the main house that includes an upstairs living space. It has a dorm size refrigerator, microwave, and toaster oven so it's convenient if you're just heating things up but not really a functional kitchen for serious cooking. There was no one staying in the main house so we had the beautiful garden to ourselves, but I can imagine it being a little too close if we had to share. It worked perfectly for what we had in mind. Ms Rood was quick to answer any questions we had.

Our property is within 30 minutes driving distance to vineyards, skiing and snowboarding, hiking, biking, rock climbing, fishing, sailing, boating, white water rafting, Jacksonville and the Medford Airport.

Second Spring Property is within a 2 hour drive of Crater Lake, Mt. Shasta, Redwoods, Smith River and the wild Oregon Coast is just 2 hours and 15 minutes away.
